Alright, I'v been browsing the media threads I'v noticed that while we may get some mention of it in other topics, there really isn't a country music thread, so here it is! Let me know what you favourite artist/song is in the genre and how you feel about the old country vs new country.

I feel like Taylor Swift isn't really a country singer. Her songs seem to fit better in the pop category to me. If that's modern country, then I don't really care for it. I used to love country until I listened to it too much.

Im cool with country I guess, but Its not my favorite genre ever or anything. I listen to it sometimes depending on my mood though.

I also live in the south part of america, so singing some country songs comes oddly naturally to me, and I do enjoy singing them overall. There's really kinda a select few country songs I like, and I really only listen to a small set of them, but I do listen to a little.

I don't dislike any genre of music exactly.

Country isn't what I normally listen to, I don't know too much about the genre, but there are some songs that I do enjoy.

As for the whole "old country vs new country", I can't really say much. Other than the fact that Taylor Swift is pop.

BTW, if you have any suggestions feel free to share them with me.

Oh right forgot to post this in the first post.

This is the 2010 CMA opening performance. I think it's a great use of a great song, and the song realy helps explain what country music is about!

-Johnny Cash

-Miranda Lambert

-Carrie Underwood

My favorite country music singers. There might be 2 or 3 more I could list but i'm not going through my country music folder. As for how I feel which is better regarding new country vs old country, I honestly prefer the older country songs just because most of them seem to have more meaning in them than the newer ones.

so I dunno what you mean by 'old country new country'

but I don't really like country, honestly. aside from some artists and singers. I like Taylor Swift, but I don't really count her. I think she's who you meant by 'new country' xD

I seriously LOOVE this song though:

I'm a decent fan of country. I more than often prefer to listen to Johnny Cash, though. Ah, what a classic artists, still making music until his final days.

There are some other song-specific country songs I like, but nothing in specific.

I think Taylor Swift falls in the category of "country pop". But then again, I don't know that much about country and its subgenres.

Edit: No wait, I'm right xD

that's why I said I don't think she counts. xD

well, at first, yes she was coutry. but now, I do not count her as country, because as 'you belong with me' or romeo Juliet one I ever so conviently forgot the name of is country, trouble and never ever getting back together are definitely not.
