Have you had any close/awkward encounters as a closet brony?

The other day, me and my friend were talking about MLP next to the lockers at school (we were speaking in jargon to avoid anyone knowing) then one of the girls at their lockers asked what we were talking about. She was the popular Athletic girl who everyone liked so it wasn't a good idea to say. So we said that you wouldn't know etc. to buy ourselves time to think to leave the conversation.

 

Luckily her friend asked something so we slipped away then. Also, the same person drew me a pony and I kept it in the back of my French folder. Then only yesterday I brought that same folder to French tuition. When the tutor opened the folder to see where it started (this was the first lesson) she saw the picture of the pony! Fortunately she carried on regardless.

 

So I was wondering if people here have anything interesting to say about this topic.

Well one day in school, while waiting for the teacher to arrive at our classroom, I casually checked the forums on my smartphone to see if anything interesting happened. When suddenly this group of people in my class (which don't really like me and I don't really like them) ask what I was doing, their eyes instantly glued to my screen. I turned my screen off the second they started asking but even though I did, they did smile a bit and started mumbling stuff to eachother, of which I'm very sure was about what I was doing on my smartphone.

Nahh I don't think I've been a brony long enough to be embarrassed by it, but even with that being said even if someone discovered I was a brony I wouldn't care because I'm not closeted, and I think nobody should be closeted about their broniness. Oh, you don't like the fact that I'm a brony?

At home, I can watch what I say. But at work, for some reason I can't keep my mouth shut. My first close call was when I was transporting an old guy to the hospital. He had fallen and hurt himself (they do that a lot!), and as I was taking him out of the bus he went code brown. He was really embarrassed and he apologized. I told him 'don't worry, it happens to everypony...' Needless to say, I turned the same shade of red he was. I was able to play that one of as an inside joke, but he still gave me a strange look. The second time (at work, again) I was on a long transport and got bored. I thought that whistling would make the drive more bearable. That is until I started whistling the MLP theme song. I forgot about my partner in the back who has a young daughter... He asked what I was whistling, he had heard it before but couldn't put his finger on it. I told him I'm not sure, I heard it on the radio on the way in that morning. He bought it and I've worked with him since and he hasn't said anything. I hope I didn't blow my cover.

Although I am not a closet brony I have never gone out of my way to tell anyone either the closest I have had to any awkward encounter is this one time I was talking to my Mom and I almost said "everypony" instead of "everyone". My Mom dosen't know yet at least if she does she sure hasn't said anything, but probably will find out after I post this youtube video I have planned on my thoughts on Derpy the only thing I am wondering is would it be best for her to see the video and find out that way or for me to tell her before I post the video?

Haha, funny enough as it is the closest to finding out about me being a brony was my little cousin( he's like 10)

 

Basically I was on the computer doing stuff here, and he came in so I tabbed out thinking he wasn't the type I had to have something to block my tabs out with, but turns out he saw my tab and was like "my little pony?" and then I was like, no, that's just something.. Then conviently we where called for dinner and him having his memory being kinda shorter I guess forgot about it, he never mentioned it afterwards.

 

Phew.

 

Other then that it's just been some encounters with my brother or mom where I almost don't get tabbed our or whatever. One time my brother saw the mlp forums tab, but just asked what MLP was before me awkwardly answering with something, and then him getting called away never to really bring it up afterwards.

 

I learn new things about being a closet brony every now and then .

The last time that I went to the local comic store up at school to pick up issue #6 of the comic series as well as the Rarity micro-series, there was this woman in front of me buying pony comics for a family member who was questioning the cashier about bronies (though she didn't know very much either).  It was somewhat awkward, almost like someone talking behind your back about you, except that they're right in front of you.  Turns out though that the customer didn't think poorly about us (apparently she saw the John de Lancie documentary and thought it was good); she just thought it was strange.  I kind of regret not saying anything though...

It wasn't really that awkward but there was a time where I almost said "everypony" instead of everybody to my dad. We were talking about politics, I think, and I said "Everypo--" and when I tried to say "everybody" in order to correct myself, I broke out into laughter. I was learning to play dBpony's

 by ear so, naturally, I was listening to, singing and playing the song for hours; "everypony" just snuck its way into my vocab.

 

So the event was awkward because I started to laugh at an inside joke while talking about politics.

I my school nobody cares if your a bronie. My friend and I talk about it in what classes we do have together and plus i am a huge as kid for our grade so I really don't have to be worried about being picked on.

Not really awkward rather than funny.

 

I have an addon on Firefox called 'ponify' is changes certain words to Equestria eqivilants, for example "everybody" becomes "everypony", I just find it amusing.

Anyway, I was sending a group email to some friends arranging a meet up, usually I turn off the addon but I forgot this time. So when I get to the pub we arranged to meet in all my friends kept using the Equestria words.... Lol slightly embarrassing at first but after a few drinks it was all forgotten.

 

I'm totally open about my love of the show so it wasn't all that embarrassing.

Well, as far as school I am not a closet brony, but as far as family goes, I haven't told them yet. I was drawing, but I cant remember what, all I know is that it was pony related. My mom opened my door and told me dinner was ready, and I flipped the paper just in time for her not to see. But it wasn't over. She said "What are you drawing?" I said "Oh, you know, stuff." She gave me an awkward loo and grabbed the paper, I prepared for the embarrassment but it never came. she grabbed the paper next to the flipped drawing. She thought I was crazy or something and we basically left it at that.

Me and My friend were reading his MLP fanfiction on his phone but we got caught so my teacher asked me too stand up and read the fic to the whole class.Luckily I randomly thought of a random page from The Da Vinci Code which surprisingly saved my skin.

I'm not "closeted", and I'm usually very open about it (to a degree), but I did have one interesting moment yesterday. Don't know that it's particularly awkward, but it was funny to me anyway.

 

I were walking around the local shopping centre and I had on my Luna t-shirt, and I walk near this lady and her little daughter who suddenly starts happily shouting "Look mom, it's Luna! On his shirt! It's a Luna shirt, mom!" I don't know if her mom even noticed or cared, but I just kinda pretended I didn't hear anything and walked on, but inside my head I had to smile a bit, because I was reminded "ohhh, that's right, this is a kids' show isn't it..?" T'was a cute moment though, I was glad I could brighten her day a bit.

 

A few days earlier (and coincidentally wearing the same Luna shirt) a guy walks past me and asks me (in a non-confrontational way) "You a brony?" And of course me, being that I don't have any brony friends and am always on the lookout, enthusiastically responds "Yeah, are you?" to which he just says "No." I just smiled and walked off but I felt a bit awkward. WHY DID YOU EVEN ASK ME THEN FFFFFFUUUUUUU.

It was a close call with my mom I was on the forums and she burst through the door to tell me about something so if I tabbed away she would be al like" why did you close that? What are you doing?" I've shown my family some pictures I've seen on my iPad and for some sweet celestia reason, they flicked left to a picture of my OC that I'd drawn! They asked me who'd drawn this so I just blanked them and flicked right again to show them the rest of the pictures. Another example of an awkward moment again but this is a great story. I was staying the night at my brother's house and he came downstairs when I was laying in my sofa bed to see I was watching My Little Pony on my iPad. He tapped me on the shoulder, smiling and said "why did you hide this? You do realise I'm a brony too right?" So from then on, I call him B.B.B.F.F.

Yesterday actually I copied some text from a website and pasted it to my chat with my friend.  I sent the message and then I looked it over and I completely forgot that I had the Ponify extension on my computer installed >.< so when I sent the message, it said "Most ponies" instead of "Most people"
