Avatar tag: shipping 299 November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 Now they do. I had been a closet brony until last week when I found out my parents had known for the last month or two. I went to a con in July and through never ending poking and prodding me and others, they found out where I went. One look on the con's website where they saw my picture confirmed it. My mom is cool about it, more curious than anything. My dad thinks I sit in my room brushing the little ponies and thinks I'm gay. My sister thinks I'm weird and doesn't understand. None if them bring it up around me, which I guess is a good thing. Could be worse. Sig by the one and only Doc Volt! Gone but not forgotten! Guess who's back!!! Luna damn it!Your PMs are not safe! Sunlight 357 November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 (edited) My parents both know, and they're alright with it. They haven't really even talked to me about it much. I think they have a kind of "Whatever" attitude about it, actually. I know they wouldn't like it, so I haven't bothered trying to get them into it. BalanceBrony 259 November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 Almost everypony knows I'm a brony. For one, I actually use the -pony suffix in everything except for official essays. My facebook profile pic is fluttershy. My browser, desktop, and screensaver are all ponified. My Youtube has a pony profile picture, and I posted a status as soon as I became a brony. I have a Derpy Hooves hat, and a Mane 6 shirt. I am going to get a pair of slippers next, cause I have cold feet. So yeah, I'm very open about my bronyhood to everypony. RubyVesper 100 November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 They knew within 3 hours of me liking the show. They are fully acceptive of it, know what bronies are and get to see some fan content every now and then. My sister is only 10, so she doesn't count as a pegasister, but she has quite a chance to keep liking the show. My younger brother doesn't watch the show because it is "too addictive", and the other, even younger brother is only playing CoD all day, and is actually surprisingly good at it. Not to mention he doesn't get mad. Best 11-year old gamer ever. If it weren't for the fact that there is no pony mercy in my (tiny) size that doesn't cost three weeks and 80 bucks to deliver, I would've already gotten my parents to buy me some shirts. Taviscratch 453 November 6, 2013 Share November 6, 2013 My parents know. My dad just pretends not to even notice. It's not like it's changed anything between us because we've never been close and never will be. We've never understood each other so there's nothing lost between me and my dad by the possibility of his disapproval. What's more, I don't care what he thinks. My mum is pretty awesome. She's ok with it and while she might occasionally mock me for it and doesn't understand why I like it, she's cool with it. It doesn't really matter to her because I could do a lot worse than have a mild obsession with candy coloured ponies. After showing her a survey that showed 12million people in the US alone identify themselves as bronies and a video about how gender stereotypes are fluid and ever-changing, she accepted it more easily. I have pony merch all over my room at uni and I wear MLP T-shirts in public so nobody gives me any shit because they already know I don't care what they think. WsConanRoyal 63 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 My father kind of knows. He makes fun of me for it and says that he needs to take away my man card, but otherwise he doesn't really seem to care. My mom probably doesn't know at all.
Shadling 348 November 9, 2013 Share November 9, 2013 Never informed them about it, but I think they must have found something... I don't sneak with private navigation, so it's hightly possible that they have found something. Pat.Rio.T. 305 November 10, 2013 Share November 10, 2013 I'm not hiding anything, but I am not announcing it out to everyone. I kinda would like for them to know, but I don't know how to tell them. I don't want to go with the direct approach, it's just too soon and would be extremely sudden for them. They haven't seen enough of the show, and I would like for them to get to know the show a little better before I confront them. Although it is possible for them to find out beforehand, because my best friends and my big brother know, and I said that I don't really care who they tell. And that's okay, I don't mind, but as I said, until they get to know the show better I am not going to just announce it. Adrien Brony 21 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 They don't know. They would (probably) be fine if I say that I am a brony, but I'm not sure how I should say it. It would be too awkward for me to directly say something like "I have a big confession to make: I'm a brony", and I'm not sure how else to explain it. My siblings have walked into my room as I was watching MLP a few times but right when they walked in I switched tabs. If I do tell my parents that I'm a brony, I would also have to explain that I use Dailymotion to watch that show, and my younger brother was once using Dailymotion to watch Yu-Gi-Oh and my dad said that Dailymotion isn't a good website for kids. My mom wouldn't care, but my dad might somewhat care. My younger brother (12 years old) might turn into a brony if I'm lucky, and my even younger sister (9 years old) would probably just start teasing me about it. Nerdy Luigi 2,065 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 (edited) I know my brother knows, my dad knows I watch MLP but not of the fandom. Unless he's actively seeing me watch it, he seems quite accepting. My grandma I don't know about her. I have a sister that doesn't know, I don't know how she would react. The way she is, it would be quite difficult to answer. But she doesn't because I haven't seen her since I became a brony. Derpaholic 1,155 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 Yeah, they both know. They also know that I'm a clop aficionado. They don't care either way.I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I live by myself, and don't really get to see either of them that regularly (last time I actually *saw* my dad was seven months ago). Then again, they are both very open-minded individuals, and raised me and my sister with that same principle in mind. I recently unveiled my plans to get yet another piece of body art needled into my skin - a tattoo of Derpy. My dad thought the idea was hilarious, and my mother just nodded it off. I think they would take this matter a bit more seriously if they actually knew how deep my affection towards her runs, and that's something I'm not willing to disclose to them anytime soon. Bronies are cool 30 December 2, 2013 Share December 2, 2013 My parents don't know and I'm not planning on telling them soon. I don't think my dad would care a whole lot and I don't think my mom would do anything about it, but I know that she'll probably say something about it to mock me in several occasions. :/ I don't tell them because they don't need to know, but if they asked, I would tell them. I also haven't told my brothers and sisters because my brother would be judgemental about it. I don't really care of my sister knows though.
Heatwave 177 December 2, 2013 Share December 2, 2013 Mine do, but they don't know what a Brony is, they just know I watch the show, and that I have a little merch. I'm expecting a "talk" about it very soon. xD

Her exact words: "I'm just happy you aren't out getting pregnant and doing drugs!" Thanks mom. XD My stepmother and my father think it's dumb though. I don't really care. Cherry Rainbow 13 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 Okay, let me tell you a magical story. Once upon a time there was a person. She lived a happy life. Then, one day, she came home from school with in her pockets some random mlp merch. She showed her mother and said: 'MLP is awesome!' her mother, who knew what mlp stood for, was silent for a few seconds, after wich she suddenly started laughing and said: 'Aren't you waaaaaay too old for that show?' Then, the girl said: 'you can't tell me what to do!' and ran upstairs to her room where she watched random mlp vids on YouTube, looking at the toy ponies she bought. She looked in the mirror and laughed, then she said 'I'm such a derp' And she and her mother lived happily ever after. That's my life. Signature made by the awesome brony NightOwl
Phoenix237 353 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 Kinda I say that because I never told them (since I don't feel a need to tell them what I watch), but at the same time I never hid me watching the episodeds. I don't have merchandise so that may be why, but whenever is see the show they don't take notice. And when they do they think it's something else and don't bother to question

Geek0zoid 1,468 December 3, 2013 Share December 3, 2013 (edited) It was by complete accident that both my mom and my dad found out that I was a brony. They're both okay with it, though. Both of them joke around with me about it, though I think my dad takes it a bit too overboard. But, you know what; I don't feel bad about it. This fanbase is full of some of the nicest, dedicated people I know. There are nice people still roaming the planet, ESPECIALLY Bronies.
