music What kinds of music do you listen to?

I hate it when you ask someone what kind of music they like, and they reply with something very vague like "Oh I like metal". Then you ask them what kind of metal and they're like "Oh I don't know lol". I also hate when people use the term "classic rock". "Classic rock" is a radio format, not a genre.

Yea, or when people say "I like Techno". I feel like punching my screen when someone says that. And it happens really often

Wait, people still call Classic rock a genre? LOL

It's a problem used to describe both metal and electronic music.

Yes, people still think "classic rock" is a genre of music. Some of the posts on this thread seem to hint that.

I appreciate most forms of music, but I only actively listen to a handful of styles. I'm a huge thrash metal buff, as everypony at Crispy's metal thread knows (and is probably irritated with, but I don't give a fawwwwwwk~!). Also love me some speed metal, power metal, and some prog metal...you know, the small handful of songs that aren't 20 minutes long.

Other than those forms of metal, I love epic orchestral pieces and classic video game music. And some folk music, especially Russian folk.

I don't like electronic music.

Seeming towards how big of a genre electronic music is, that's quite the broad statement, surely there's something out there in it for you.

I slap people whenever they say techno, if you're not knowledgeable on a certain genre, then don't generalize it or say anything that could possibly be misleading.

I seriously fucking hate that. I once saw this guy using Dubstep as a term to describe all electronic genres because "it's widely used". I made fun of him, and then I proceeded to rip out my eyes out of my eye sockets

Well there's something for everybody, even for me. I listened to an entire Boards of Canada album and enjoyed it. I'd say that metal and electronic are the two most diverse genres of music out there.

What I like: Rap metal, hard rock, nu metal, post grunge, alt rock and metal, and whatever Glaze and TheLivingTombstone is considered to be.

However I have been known to listen to pretty much anything that isn't straight up rap or country.

I'm quite a big fan of Dubstep/Drum&Bass most Techno genres Rock (Mostly stuff from 70s-80s and some new age.), some Rap, I'm not a fan of new age pop at all, really, and that's about all my preferences. But in all that, I mostly listen to brony music which has a variety of all of it, so if I had to pick any specific genre as a favorite... it's Brony music.

Here we go with the vague terms.

At least you said nu metal. Ughhh, nu metal.

Brony music isn't a genre. It just means it's pony themed.

I know Brony music isn't an actual theme, it was more of a joke. I was just expressing my fondness of the fandom, by saying I love the creations of it, because every single genre they release has produced at least one, probably more songs that I've liked. If you would like a more serious answer however, I would probably go with Dubstep.

Ughhhh... there's hardly any music the fandom has created that's worth my time. The only thing I liked was this band or one man band called Hooves in the Throne Room. But even that doesn't wow me.

Well I mean, it's not everyone's cup of tea, I just happen to like it, quite a lot. Pointing out any specifics, I'd probably have to go with The LivingTombstone, Micthemicrophone(zero), and MandoPony, being my absolute favorites in the fandom. But if you're not a big fan, then you're not a big fan, and that's quite alright.

 most Techno genres

I hate how the name Techno has been misused so badly in dance music:

If people don’t know there EDM then that’s ok in my opinion, I’m no EDM expert my self I just listen to a couple of sub-genres of EDM such as House music, but why not just call it dance music or electronic music?

Calling it Techno is just like calling all Rock music Punk, sure they’ll be some Rock music that is the Punk subgenre, but it’s incorrect to say ALL Rock music is Punk.

Anyway I just have a thing about having all EDM called Techno, I know it might be a bit silly really xD
