Do you actually buy MLP:FiM merchandise?

I have a lot of merchandise. And I mean a lot. My friends that are bronies come to me and I give them doubles of stuff I have (blind bags, dog tags, cards ect...) just about everyone knows I'm a brony and if anyone dislikes bronies they normally stay out of my way. I look pretty intimidating cause I always wear black and have mlp dog tags hanging off my jacket. I think everyone's just scared of stuff outside their comfort zone. If you're just confident and when people try and insult you, just answer with a question.

"you like my little pony! that's gaay"

"why do you say that?"

"cause it's made for little girls!"

"do you like Disney movies?"

people are stupid. Sink to their level without sinking to petty insults and they'll back off.

Depends on what it is. I have a rubber brony wristband, 2 dogtags, an applejack shirt, and 3 small vinyl (only one of them is DJPon3) figurines.

What I will never consider buying: Anything sold in the toy section of walmart.

I wish I could :( I would only buy some plushies and figurines. This would be the first fandom I collect stuff for :) Unfortunately I don't have the money, and my mom doesn't want me spending any of her money on stuff like toys. I would get shirts but they're pretty expensive according to her -_-

I'm far from a "hardcore brony" (even setting aside the fact that I would never refer to myself as a "brony" to begin with), but yes, I have bought some merchandise. I'm not crazy about it, but I do like to have a little. Specifically plushes of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash that I find to be adorable (like Build-A-Bear's). I'll also get something, like the Octavia plush I saw at Walmart, because... an Octavia plush? A background character getting a plush at a retail store for a reasonable price? Had to have it. lol. Likewise, I would very likely grab anything Beauty Brass (unless it was, well, geared toward a side of the fandom that is not me at all), because wind instruments!

I can't bring myself to buy merchandise and accept the fact that I'm buying it for myself.

I would probably go up to the cashier, and when he says "Dude. Are you a brony?",

I would respond:   "No. Uh. I'm getting this for my little sister!"

(Cashier unzips jacket. He is wearing an MLP t-shirt.)

Cashier: Dang. I thought I could meet somebody that shares a similar interest.

You know, as far as I've seen, cashiers won't do that.  For one, as big as the fandom is, there are a large number of people who don't know that it exists.  Two, many of them know that a question like that could cause the customer to become defensive, and pissing off customers is exactly what people in retail DO NOT want to do.  So yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much.  In fact, if a cashier does mention it, there's a pretty decent chance that they're a brony as well.  (Don't quote me on that though, as I have no evidence to back that up.)

On topic, yes, I have bought MLP merchandise, though I limit it to the comics (which I get at a local store) and the vinyl figurines (which I get online).  I also got a couple little trinkets at CTcon as well as the Comic Con Vinyl Scratch, but those were special cases.  It's fine for me because I only put them on display when I'm up at school, and tuck them away when I'm home, so my parents don't know about them.

I am not a big fan of the merchandise and I am very money conscious on most things except bikes as they are the only thing I like more than mlp apart from family etc. I only have a fluttershy t shirt and am about to get another one but that's all apart from a very small fluttershy and a poster. I openly eps ear the shirt in public most of the time - even at Christmas lunch with my family but no pony noticed it. Most people who are adults or old people won't make a comment in public. Last week I walked into a bookshop with my t shirt and the cashier was like OMG you're a brony too? I said yes and we dis cussed some episodes for a bit. It's up to you but I would go ahead with some t shirts as there are some really cool ones out there. RedBubble is a great place and where I got mine from. Oh I also have a season 1 box set which I bought to support the show and it looked cool as I torrent all the episodes for all seasons. Basically don't be afraid to wear a t shirt or of buying other merch as most peoples opinions of you don't really matter at all. Well there is my 2 bits on the topic.
