Scootadress 361 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 In the show, she has limitations on what she'll do to a pony to get what she wants. In some several Fanfictions: TOTAL SOCIOPATH/PSYCHOPATH. On this note:Its usually later they address this and or, Silver Spoon is hardly the pony to be on her side, even if she agrees on what she did wasn't wrong. Now, I'm not a huge DT fan, but big enough to feel slightly annoyed. Maybe because Diamond has limits that, if you look within the episode, you can see. Limitations: So far she doesn't bully based on the fact that Apple Bloom never is shown to have parents, even at Family Appreciation Day. If she really was the way she was portrayed in some fanfictions, you would believe that she would be bullying more during this, as portrayed in one particular fanfiction with Scootaloo having no one except finally Rainbow Dash after she adopts her as a surprise during the FAD. Its not shown during the episode though. She doesn't do this towards Scootaloo either, along with her inability to fly, but more laughing do to falling in the mud. She doesn't point out that Sweetie hasn't done magic either. However, she'll laugh over the outfit. I'm not saying what she's done was okay, far from it, but its not to the point where you can call it "psycho/sociopathic" I don't think Diamond would totally feel no remorse towards what happens to other ponies if it gets out of hand. I can't imagine them picking on one lone crusader for certain issues. I can see petty laughs towards discomfort or perhaps, a failed ATTEMPT, but I can't see them outright mocking them for something they can't control such as family and the ability to do what the species does. Any hopes for her in Season 4? I'm hoping to see her mark back story. I can see her being a jewelry maker. 5 SCOOTALOO = Best CMC PINKIE PIE=Best Pony LUNA=Best Princess
GlamourDolly 78 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 Yes I also don't think she is a psychopath(Like some do lol) she is young and what she does to others isn't right...it stems from all of her insecurities and home life...I think she will have a redemption, but maybe not season 4...but whenever the last season will be..I'd like for it to start with Silver Spoon first to befriend the Cutie Mark Crusaders ...and leaving Diamond Tiara all alone...getting bullied by the other classmates...A good lesson would be for the 4 to help Diamond Tiara out...even though she caused them harm...they were still big enough to forgive her...and then we learn about why she become mean and finally know all of her back story. I love the ideal of her becoming a jewelry maker! but first she should win the title of Miss Equestria and as for Silver Spoon maybe she opens up a find Silverware shop..and teaches a class on etiquette

I found this idea in a story where she tried to "rewrite" the meaning of her original mark and upon this, she realizes she can draw really REALLY well. I also like the idea that Diamond had received her mark as an oxymoron to her original character. Lets say, she really was a jewelry maker, she could have easily gotten it if she secretly helped other ponies less fortunate out. {Like giving out jewelry and in one case, the tiara.} Or, it could be something with her history with her father. Maybe that's the thing that really made her friends with Silver Spoon and Diamond really had a care for those close to her. This could also be a sign of her moving into her father's position, or made after her mother passed away, making decoration and jewelry her hobby towards such events. Silver Letter 1,832 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 I think that if the writers want to alter Diamond Tiara’s role then it can be a welcome change from the pure antagonist role she had been placed in up to this point. One way to somewhat reform her would be to have something force her into walking in the shoes of a pony she would normally feel superior to. Whether any form of permanent change may be done to her character is something that might happen or not. 1 Silver Letter!!! Scootadress 361 June 29, 2013 Author Share June 29, 2013 Diamond Tiara was created to be an arrogant and entitled bitch and I think she should stay that way. Stories are no good if the villains are all just good guys that have lost their way and need to be reformed She maybe a bitch, but her backstory might show why. Its like how RD can be a narcissistic witch that is full of hot air, she started changing and yes, RD still doesn't see past her own glory at times, but she's been getting better. She's more talk then anything, but she's starting to be better at seeing other ponies.Even you have to admit that RD was more for herself and very reckless. So is Rarity and no one comments that she can be vain but she's working on it. Pinkie's trying to be more considerate, Fluttershy less of a doormat. Its the same with DT. We haven't covered her for very long, and we can't rule out redemption or actual reason behind why she's been doing it. Besides...they made her out to be really horrible, just as horrible as any other pony, but no one thinks it bad. I seen fanfictions in which she nearly kills the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I seen one where she bashed Scootaloo's head in with a rock after getting yelled at by Cheerilee. Do you really believe that she's in character? I seen some where she bullies Scootaloo's self worth, where she belittles her for having no family. Hell, in Gutterloo, she freaking tears up her box home along with Silver Spoon, mocks her for being "Gutterloo", she even told her her friend's left her and laughed at this, which was true they left her, but she was being so mean about it. Her only possession written in slime 'GUTTERLOO". I doubt by far she wouldn't go that far, especially in the winter. She has morals too, maybe she's not the best in certain aspects, but she still holds morals. Because she blackmailed them and did everything she did, it doesn't mean she doesn't have some sort line of decency. Besides, haven't you noticed her mockings never really were aimed at anything deeper that they really would feel hurt at if out in public? I think that if the writers want to alter Diamond Tiara’s role then it can be a welcome change from the pure antagonist role she had been placed in up to this point. One way to somewhat reform her would be to have something force her into walking in the shoes of a pony she would normally feel superior to. Whether any form of permanent change may be done to her character is something that might happen or not. I'm not sure, maybe she was different behind the scenes without CMC involvement. We never got a glimpse without the CMC. She might be a really really nice pony behind the scenes and just really mad at Apple Bloom because her father's buisness is more towards the Apples. Maybe she's jealous? I can relate. I mean, my mom would honestly put {before this year of course} my friend on this pedestal and I would be rather jealous, and she would want me to be like her. I can see the same for DT. I mean, who's going to be jewelry much if she made it herself? It must cost a fortune to actually get jewelry. As much as I'd like to think that DT is really mean, it could only be towards those she thinks her father liked best, or maybe its just something her dad did to make her gain attention. {Buisness stallion. I can just see that he's hard to please and talk to} SCOOTALOO = Best CMC PINKIE PIE=Best Pony LUNA=Best Princess
SoonVindicated 71 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 (edited) Hear me out, friends. I, personally, want to see more character development for Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Why? Because I have a great dislike for 2 dimensional villains whose only purpose is to provide conflict for the protagonists. You would think that, with MLP: FiM, the writers would know that their audience expects more than the usual tropes. I also speak about the precedence that Lauren Faust set for the series in making a high quality cartoons for girls, and not just bronies themselves. I think most of us can agree that DT and SS were created for the sole purpose of showing children how not to act. Thus they are made to be hated, and if you hate them you are acting the way the writers want you to. However, no person is mean without cause. This is true for ponies as well. A backstory would go a long way to explain why DT and SS act the way they do, however I sincerely doubt that the writers will afford DT and SS that kind of dignity. Why do I say this? Because of the episode " One Bad Apple". The theme of it is that a villain (Babs) is portrayed as an antagonist, but her character evolves throughout the episode ( written quite poorly I might add, as it felt rushed and contrived). They become something more through our understanding of them. The very theme of this episode was better suited for DT and SS. Think about this for a moment. DT and SS already had establishing characteristics, and in addition they also had meaningful relationships with the characters already. Apple Bloom namely. It just makes more sense to have that episode enhance our understanding of already established villains so that they become something more, and thusly accomplish what Lauren Faust set out to do originally. Break barriers of perceptions, especially in regards to cartoons for girls. The very core of what we admired in her, and her work. If the writers would rather shoe-horn in a brand new character to fill such an important role in the theme of this episode, than allowing well established characters that would have been a much better choice for that role. What chance do DT and SS have for an absolution? I disregard the fanfiction accounts of DT and SS, as I believe they are nothing more than mental masturbation on the part of some people who crave a catharsis for their own inner demons. Dark and evil things that the very authors of these fanfictions created themselves. These very things, DT and SS have never actually done, but people expect it of them. Why? Because we are made to hate them, and it's just that simple. I find it ironic that the writers have only shown us the worst of DT and SS, and never have shown us the good parts. This is ironic in that this is what haters do with us to non-bronies who know nothing about us. They show these non-bronies only the worst of our community, and so the non-bronies tend to view us in a bad light because that is all they know about us. The same is true with DT and SS, and I won't even talk about all the pictures and stories I see where people depict these two being harmed, maimed, and even killed brutally for the very minor offenses they have committed. The very same is what haters would do to us. So for me the tale of DT and SS is eerily similar to our own reality as bronies. There is one thing I do expect of Season 4, if my hunch about the writers is accurate. They will do the single most hurtful thing to Diamond Tiara they could ever do. That is to take away her only friend, Silver Spoon. Consider how SS is portrayed as somewhat nicer than DT. Her presence is merely to amplify DT's mean side from a writers perspective. Kinda like how somewhat large people will hang out with even larger people so they look better by comparison. While rich ponies are generally portrayed as snobby and elitist (Sweet and Elite, and The Best Night Ever), and for the most part are only kind when it is convenient for the plot ( Fancy Pants because Rarity needed some kind soul to help her out of her situation, and Filthy Rich to provide a leverage force against Diamond Tiara) we can draw a conclusion that the writers are generally biased against the wealthy. Which is very common in writing. They generally provide a poor perception of the wealthy, and create a standard in doing so. It is also from this that I would believe that the writers won't give DT or SS any redeeming traits or the dignity of a backstory that would raise them above the mold the writers have forced them into. If you have read this far, you have my thanks. Most would have turned away at the outset, and for you to have read this far means that you have a genuine want to understand. Which is more than I can say for most. With this I ask that you look at DT and SS with that same want to understand, and not blindly accept what the writers have told us to think. DT and SS may never know redemption, and the path of redemption is never easy. Though I do believe we have all done things we regret at one point. For this reason we are all walking that path, marching ever forward to become a better person through our want to change and understand each other and ourselves. The most important part is that we do so, together, hand in hand. Thank you. Edited June 29, 2013 by Waifles
Jammo 986 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 I'd rather Silver Spoon reform. She's clearly just a suck up social climber who only torments the CMC because Diamond Tiara expects her too. It would actually be a far better direction in my opinion to have Silver Spoon cut off ties with Diamond, maybe after one of her schemes uses Silver as a patsy. Silver would realize Diamond cares about no one but herself, she liberates herself once she realizes her friend is more trouble than she's worth. Silver grows as a character and starts to redeem herself, while Diamond continues to isolate herself with her entitled mindset. Both characters would develop and a clear line between moral and amoral characters would be a drawn. Good message for the kids and good plot development for adults. Scootalove 10,689 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 I don't really want a reform of another antagonist. It would be better to reform Silver Spoon, since she isn't as evil as Diamond Tiara is and Silver Spoon doesn't really speak up for herself since Diamond Tiara controls her like a puppet. Diamond Tiara should stay as a villain/antagonist, since she is the true evil filly out of the two of them. 3 Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules

Zygen 6,066 June 30, 2013 Share June 30, 2013 I don't think she's a psychopath at all. I just think she bullies others for attention, and to help her with her insecurities. Like a lot of bullies do. Or possibly other common reasons. She's also young, so she doesn't know everything really. Will she be reformed in S4? Not exactly, I think unless S4 is the last season it wont happen. Maybe it might get where she feels remorse after they get their cutie marks and maybe try and make up with them possibly, but I don't know on that and I don't think they'll ever truly become friends. Of course I don't know for sure. She may Atleast stop bullying after they get their cutie marks, but idk. I dont think DT is inherently evil. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Firelord Derpy 310 June 30, 2013 Share June 30, 2013 I'd like to see maybe not a full reformation, but a partial one, maybe she takes something to far and feels bad about it and tries to make it right, at the end she's not "Friends" with the Cutie Mark Crusaders but she's a little nicer and while she still taunts them it's less mean or something. In the same episode they could also show how busy her father is and how while he loves her he doesn't have enough time so she's trying to get attention and has been spoiled by him trying to give her things to make up for lost time. SirTherodar 28 June 30, 2013 Share June 30, 2013 Diamond Tiara was created to be an arrogant and entitled bitch and I think she should stay that way. Stories are no good if the villains are all just good guys that have lost their way and need to be reformed A story where the characters never change and develop is boring because if the characters never change, the story never changes. If Diamond stays the same, there is only so much that can happen with the show regarding the Cutie Mark Crusaders, If she changes, then the show can be different and interesting. This also relates back to the whole alicorn Twilight debacle, lots of people were upset when Twilight became an alicorn because suddenly something changed. In actuality, this gives the writers a whole new realm of stories to write and lessons to teach. It will even let them use morals for the older audience, like if your friend suddenly became your boss and how that should be handled. Often bullies are people who have "lost their way," they are often products of their environment, whether that environment is abusive parents or, in Babs Seed's case, being a target of bullying themselves. In short, the story will forever be the same thing if the characters are not dynamic. People in real life are dynamic, why shouldn't characters in a show that teaches life lessons be dynamic?

Rainbow Eclipse 3,927 November 13, 2013 Share November 13, 2013 Well, I have an idea for an episode: Scootaloo is on her scooter at recess, and leaves to go and do something (IDK what). When she returns, the scooter is gone. She immediately suspects Diamond Tiara, who is innocent. The rumor that Diamond is the thief spreads all across school, and everypony turns against Diamond, even Silver Spoon. At the end, Cheerilee calls Scootaloo inside and reveals that she has been keeping the scooter to keep it safe, and returns it to Scootaloo. Scootaloo apologizes to Diamond for accusing her, and Diamond, in turn, apologizes for all the times she has bullied the CMCs, saying that she now knows what it's like to have ponies turn against you for no reason. 3 OCs: Riley • Anala

Heatwave 177 November 13, 2013 Share November 13, 2013 While I am not a fan of Diamond Tiara or Silver Spoon, I think they balance out the sides in ponyville a bit.
