Gamer_Luna27 77 August 22, 2013 Share August 22, 2013 All my brony friends told me it was sh**, don't get it, it's a waste of time and money. I watched it anyway, just like I did when I was first told to watch MLP:FiM for the first time and my whole family was telling me I was insane. Well, Insanity strikes again, because I actually enjoyed it. Yes, I did download the movie illegally like the cheap scum-wad I am, but it was more like a try before you buy. I'm waiting for the blu-ray version to be shipped down-under so I can buy the thing, is that illegal? Anyway, I went in thinking 'this is going to be sh**, this is going to be sh**' and left thinking 'i'm gonna buy that, i'm gonna buy that...if only because my computer data got corrupted' XD
True Rarity 1,240 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 When my friends and I finally saw it, we thought it was better than we figured it would be. However, there are some plot holes here and there. The best part? Flash Sentry slams into the door walking Twilight into the dance. BEST PART EVER! 1 My deviantART
Radiance64 7,053 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 No, it was a little worse than I expected actually. I mean, I still enjoyed it, but some parts felt really rushed to me, especially towards the end. The things I like about it I really like though- the first 2 thirds in general are good, the intro song remix(which is way way way better than the show's normal intro song, guess which one I do have on my MP3 player and which I don't), human Rarity who is more generous than pony Rarity(I still love love them both equally), and especially Helping Twilight Win the Crown, probably the best song of the series imo. I just wish the whole movie could of been great, it's too bad that the last third of the movie is filled with montages and nonsensical epiphanies, along with an ending that focused almost entirely on discussing a mediocre character whom we'll apparently never see again. Misty Shadow 7,901 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 I thought it was going to be terrible initially, but I eventually lightened up and decided to watch it upon seeing some of the positive feedback for it. Yeah, it was nowhere near as bad as it could've been. It's obviously flawed, but I find it enjoyable. I'm glad to say that I like it. https://www.deviantart.com/frank3dz/art/A-day-to-remember-1140892930 (seriously guys, read this comic, it's hilarious)
MobiusKing97 16 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 i havent really seen the whole movie but ive seen some scenes and all that good pony stuff and i thought the movie was pretty dope and no not cause of human rarity(<3 swag) mostly cause it was cool to see all the ponies be humans though i kind of was expecting spike to be a human(though i still dont like him cause he got a kiss on the freaking cheek twice in a episode)... Bronii 34 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 Very. Before I watched it, it looked terrible. I mean the ponys turning into humans for no reason??? Then I watched it and it was amazing and had an actual reason! ~Beautiful signature by Azura~ My OC: Solar Flare. Dusk Dream 137 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 I simply watched the whole movie on Youtube, simply because leaks. Anyway, I actually found it a pretty good movie, i'll sum up some basic pros/cons. THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS,READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! Pros - Sunset Shimmer was a nicely made villian, with a logical reason to be evil. - Alternative universes have always interested me, so the whole "other world" thing was cool for me - As always, nicely animated and voiced, and i liked trying to recognise all the different ponies Cons -It was awkward how Sunset Shimmer turned into a friggin' demon, i really found it strange. - Didn't like the fact how there was no Twilight Sparkle in that other world, if everyone is there, where'd the originial Twilight of that world go? It didn't make a lot of sense. - A lot of background ponies hardly made an appearance or had a little time left away for them in the movie, it was only focused on the Mane 6, i recount Derpy, Trixie and Dj Vinyl, that was it. Or i missed out on some. The Trixieism thread !(made by Firebolt): http://mlpforums.com/topic/49269-trixieism/
Dr. Eggnog 203 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 Well, I expected it to be kindof bad. I also expected it to surprise me and actually either be really good or really awful. I thought it was kindof bad. So I don't know how to answer your question. The references made me smile, and the jokes made me laugh, but I didn't like the human mane six designs, the new characters were uninteresting, and the story rarely grabbed me, plus Twilight's crush on another species was a tad creepy. I love you.
Dsanders 5,747 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 (edited) Well when first hearing the news about Equestria Girls becoming a legitimate movie, I was actually one of the many bronies who were raging and getting really disappointed with the idea. I really didn't like the idea at all. Not one bit. But when actually deciding to see the movie, I found the plotline of the story, despite having some minor flaws and fails, to be really entertaining and interesting for me. I liked how Twilight was portrayed, as well as all the other characters. Plus, I really loved the music! "A Friend for Life" and "Helping Twilight Sparkle Win the Crown" were among my top favorite songs from the movie. I just didn't like much of the ending though. The story seemed like it was losing it's grip there and things really started to not make much sense anymore. Sunset Shimmer's drastic and sudden reformation, the anthropomorphic transformations of the mane 6, and the lack of confusion and shock from the everyone at high school witnessing the scene were all good examples of the lack of the sense. Yeah, it just didn't make much sense upon that scene and afterward. Nonetheless, the movie was entertaining, interesting, had some really good qualities to it, and I loved the music! So it actually turned out wayyyyy better than I expected it. Overall, I give it a 8.5/10. Edited August 23, 2013 by Sanderspie
Intenzifier 1,103 August 23, 2013 Share August 23, 2013 I do admit when I first head that the movie was coming out and the ponies were humans I was a little dissapointed and not really interested at all, and ofcourse it didn't come to my theater in my town so I kind of put it off for a while. It was only recently that I got around to watching the movie and be dammed it turned out pretty good in my eyes, of course there is flaws and it felt rushed at the end but it being made by the makers of MLP it still held onto its wittiness, humor, storytelling and the songs some of which I still can't get out of my head. I can go on about the flaw but theres no need really as were not the targeted age group this movie/series is made for, with the few aspects that they already throw in because of the broney community I'm sure they could of done it up for us. All in all it is a good entertaining movie that I'll probably watch again most likely this weekend Sig made by me, Intenzifier Art touches the soul... art is communication... it reaches out from the canvas and passes through the eyes of the viewer right into his heart where it can leave an imprint of beauty that can make the spirit sing. -Nina Baldwin DeviantArt profile. SomariFeyWright 776 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 I came into the movie expecting it to be terrible. Though, I was optimistic because I was expecting it to be laughably terrible. ... Hoo boy, was I wrong. The human designs were so darned pretty, the characters were well translated into a high school setting, the music was nice as always, and it made the genius decision of bringing in all the usual cliches of a foreign high school setting... and threw them out just as quickly. I thought it was an amazing movie. One of my all-time favorites, flaws and all. Awesome signature made by Tromino. galaxysquid 2,122 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Some things didn't make sense though that I saw but overall I thought it was pretty cool. At first I was thinking to my self, Oh god is this going to turn out to be horrible like some kind of barbie movie? I mean, the thought of everypony as humans was like, What in the waaaaah...? But I guess it was a pretty darn good movie and I really enjoyed it! (And now currently own it.) ^3^ My OC, Starlight. Mr F 1,522 August 24, 2013 Share August 24, 2013 Equestria girls was not as bad as i thought. The only things I did not like is how some things where just randomly thrown in, like the ending with sunset shimmer. I hope we get to see a bit from flash sentry, there is no fun when characters just dissapear from the series. :okiedokielokie: It was a lot better than exspected, but still had a lot of fails in itself. TALH-Films 1 August 26, 2013 Share August 26, 2013 i wasn't totally excited for it though the idea of canon humanizations is interesting, especially to someone who was getting kinda tired of seeing nothing but ponies all the time. it turned out to be actually a great movie. though more details on that when i can get an in-depth review through. Chrysalis Swarm 14 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 I was expecting something trashy according to some reviews, but I find a very enjoyable film with a lot of amusing moments. I liked the characters, the acting, the references, the moment where all hell breaks loose, the humor... I really enjoyed it. _Kurtis 636 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 It was actually better than I expected. I thought it would be some teenage school drama thing, but then I realized it actually had a point to it and a interesting story line.
Akemi Homura 7,680 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 Because I didn't kamikaze into a hater when I first heard of it, it met my expectations. Working with cliche plot devices, the writers captured the pony motif to FIM's normal standards and made a decent piece. There was nothing spectacular about it and it wasn't bad either. Just your average animated film.
Luximus 482 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 Oh yeah, definately. It was WAY better than I thought it would be. I watched videos on other Bronies reactions to the trailer and I thought, "idk about this..." and then when I watched the movie, I was like O_O. The writing could've been better though, but I thought it was good.
Chain Combo 135 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 I just thought of it as something fun and didn't really judge it at all I didn't hate it or love it. When the movie was getting it's hype, I was just starting to watch the episodes and parodies, so I never even had an opinion on it. When I finally did see it, I saw it as something I wasn't getting prepared to see for months but as something I just heard about.
Buttonmash1973 1,026 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 I had been waiting for months for that movie. It could had been worse if the movie had been released in 2006. #1 Flutterfan 174 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 Yes. A million times yes. This movie was great, not only were most (90% of the songs) golden, the story was very well written even if it was "rushed" though I don't know why people dislike it. If anything, I was more upset with the movie BEFORE it came out because the trailers just made it seem like HUMONIES (human ponies) but then you watch the movie, and you understand why they are humans in the movie--and you just sink in. The movie also did a great job showing what it's like entering college/a job/high school for the first time "Strange World" (Twilight Song). Overall. I was very happy with this movie. #1 Flutterfan has and plays:PSP, Ps2, Ps3, PS4, Xbox360, N64, Gameboy Color; Nintendo SwitchPSN: Loydna, Live: Loydaminc May/not friend you--but will talk to you~

Smitty91 57 September 4, 2013 Share September 4, 2013 (edited) I think like most people, I was skeptical at first. I didn't see this in theaters because it wasn't available anywhere near my town, and i wasn't about to buy the DVD. When I heard that it would be premiering on the Hub, I decided to watch it to decide if I wanted to buy it or not. Well, I recently sat down and watched it and I have to say that I didn't love it, nor did I hate it. It was just . . . okay. Not good, but not terrible either. I think one of the things that threw me off about this movie was the fact that it took place in high school. Given that I grew up watching stuff like Saved by the Bell, Mean Girls, and Degrassi, among an onslaught of Disney sitcoms, this setting has just become a big cliche to me and is only used for drama purposes nowadays. The high school setting was one of the big reasons why I wasn't looking forward to seeing this. Second of all, the fact that all of the characters were humanized. Yes, I know this is common among the fandom, but humanized ponies, after I have gotten so used to them being ponies, just doesn't really appeal to me. They're more appealing to me when they're ponies. Then again, a majority of my characters are animals, so this could be due to the fact that I'm an animal lover. Hence, why I loved Spike as a dog. Not only that, but a lot of the plot elements felt contrived and were extremely baffling at times. I don't know. Given that I've only seen this movie once, I think it's a little unfair to be judging it after only one viewing. Maybe I should watch it a few more times. Who knows? Maybe it'll eventually grow on me. Edited September 4, 2013 by Smitty91
