I've been learning taekwondo as part of the American Taekwondo Association for about 9-10 years. I reached the rank of 3rd degree black belt in April 2011, which is the highest rank a minor is allowed to reach. I hope to test for my 4th degree black belt in about 2-3 years from now. While I am turning 18 next year, it will take longer than that for me to complete the rest of my midterm testings, as well as fulfilling all of the requirements, and just feeling that I am truly ready for 4th degree black belt.

I love taekwondo, and I plan to continue learning it throughout the rest of my life. I will also teach it one day, too.

I may also consider learning other martial arts someday in addition to taekwondo, such as krav maga, judo, and jiu jitsu.

I took five years or so of karate back in the day. I don't remember much unfortunately. I also took wrestling in high school, which I enjoy practicing on my friends. And no, wrestling is not gay.

After watching this one movie called the Raid Redemption, I've been thinking about taking some classes in silat, which is Indonesian. Unfortunately, I can't find any classes and even if I did I couldn't afford it.

When I was in high school my parents made me take tae kwon do.  I actually made it to black belt despite the fact that I couldn't (and still can't) fight my way out of a wet paper sack.  I was just good at memorizing the forms and such.

Fencing + what's being called 'Medieval Martial Arts' nowadays, though I think the title is a bit pretentious. It's mostly going over the various fight manuals written by old European combat masters and trying to reconstruct the techniques used in them. It includes unarmed combat, but armed is primary.

I've also done Bataireacht, Greek Wrestling, and a few others, but not as a serious study.

I'm quite new to martial arts. I've recently taken up karate, and I'm now a yellow belt. I'm kind of obsessed with martial arts and oriental culture now, so I'm really glad I took it up!

I used to do karate, and I'm actually a black belt. It took like 6-7 years. Although I still suck at karate cause my balance is complete shit and I'm pretty weak, so yeah...

why do you work for Queen Chrysalis? A samurai duty is to serve his master, regardless of the kind of person she is .

  • 1 year later...

I'm a little surprised JKD (Jeet Kune Do) isn't on there. I used to study JKD a few years ago, but I haven't kept up with it since then. It's a martial art founded by Bruce Lee, and is made up of speed, strength, and flexibility. It's basically a style with no style, as Lee put it. An art comprised of whatever the user deems necessary to win a fight, with fundamental knowledge. It's practical and simple, but also complex and diverse. I have 4 books about Lee and JKD, even copies of the drawings he made while in the hospital from a back injury.

, , and @Apple Bloom Bot are the only ones here who've fenced? I salute the three of you! I was beginning to worry I was the only one here with an interest in fencing.

Aside from fencing I've done a bit of judo when I was younger, took one class of krav maga and I intend to take at least one class on Historical European Martial Arts because it seems very interesting.

For a while, I studied a system of traditional Japanese mixed martial arts, comprised primarily of karate and jiu-jitsu. I'd REALLY love to get back into it at some point, but college has made it darn near impossible to have a hobby.

I used to do martial arts that taught a style called American Karate which was a mixed of different types of martial arts. I got all the way to purple belt, which was the 6th out of 8 belts down the chain before I stopped.

I've been in Karate for about 5 years now. The style is primarily Okinawan, however our Dojo often host guest instructors of various martial arts, so we have exposure to other techniques, styles, and philosophies. I also recently started Sayoc Kali.
