Just finished watching the other episode. Yang is definitely my Favourite. She's the social butterfly that just wants to be friends with everybody. After her Blake is my Favourite. I don't know what it is about her design I like, but I like it. We also have the same name.

The moon would probably have something to do with the storyline. Either that or it's just there to show it's in a different time/world. Either way, it looks awesome.

I think that the most powerful so far from watching the trailers would be Ruby. I'm sure that they are all equal in power, and we have no idea how powerful the enimes from the tralier where, but keep in mind that Ruby is still younger than everybody else, so she has more time to learn and practice. And I think being a 'Geek for weapons' is pret freaking awesome. Does it still classify as Geek Class?

So has everyone been keeping up with the episodes so far? I just caught back up (to ep 7) after missing a week or 2. We got some action scenes, and little exposition on the concept of aura.

Did I mention I love Weiss? Because seeing her actions in ep 6 + 7 reaffirms my love of her character. She got the perfect teammate, an acceptable trope for me.

Also, Nora and Lie Ren OTP.

Oh my, I can't believe I forgot about this thread :o

So far, the series has been nothing short of amazing. My only gripe is that the episodes are so short but I can't really complain when considering this is made by amateurs on a low budget. The action so far has been pure brilliance tho ironically, I'm finding the secondary characters for Team Jaun to be a lot more interesting and entertaining compared to Team Yang (yeah, not Team Ruby :P). Jaun and Pyrrha are my OTP for this series, and their interaction when Pyrrha was unlocking his aura was so much NNNNNNNNNNNNNGH!!!

Even after this long, Yang so far is my favorite in terms of character and particularly her fighting style, followed by Blake. I'm glad she's been getting more screen time after her first appearance and I'm really itching to know more about her considering I have a major theory about her character.

The interesting thing about Auras is that they seem to work in a very similar manner as Nen does (Hunter X Hunter). It works to protect one's body from physical harm or danger similar to a force field as Jaun aptly put it, and I have no doubt it also acts to reinforce one's physical abilities, which is very similar to the application of Nen in CQC situations. I'm really eager to see Jaun mastering his aura as I have very little doubt he'll be a god-tier badass when he does. That huntress from the most recent ep seems to confirm Jaun has a huge latent potential judging by the line "I don't care what the transcripts say."

@,

I don't know what you're talking about. Team Ruby Weiss is the best  :yay:. You got the cold, rigid and formal Weiss teamed up with the excitable, dorky, and less refined Ruby. Pure perfection. The conflict between them is the best; it's good for character development and whatnot (and it's fun to see Weiss being mean; hopefully next time I'll get to see a bit more fighting out of Weiss).

I definitely interested in seeing how Jaune develops as well. It's the whole "character with lots of hidden potential" thing going on here I think.

It's Team Yang and you know it :P

I wouldn't call Weiss cold. Sure her powers are based on Ice but her temper is as hot as melted steel, especially if something doesn't go her way. If anyone in Team Yang is cold, it's gotta be Blake. Her expression when Yang asked her if the ruins they came across were the ones they were looking for was just so epic and hilarious

That being said, I agree that it'll be good for their development because they're polar opposites to each other. Same with Yang and Blake. Yang is the super hot, excitable and talkative one whereas Blake is the silent, mysterious and cold one.

Also, Yang likes ponies B)

Well I meant cold as in unfriendly, which she is. She's a jerk and cuts Ruby down to size with her snarky insults. She gives off that cruel Ice Queen vibe. A woman of high status with a personality that makes her unapproachable... I love it

I honestly couldn't get into it. I never really was a fan of Rooster Teeth content (The only one being the Rage Quit videos). But I just could not get interested after the first epsiode. The characters feel like invincible characters who don't feel threatened, nor do they seem to have any kind of weakness.

Now that is all from the first episode, and from only seeing the first character, but I have  HUGE problem with that. I it is the reason why I despise Sword art: Online. If the main character comes off as the "I can take you all on without breaking a sweat" trope, then I lose interest immediately. There are some shows like Claymore that I truly love. Not only does the main character in that experience very real threats, and almost died multiple times, but she actually is the lowest rank Claymore (47th, and the 47th weakest one). This causes characters to be more interesting, relate ableI am also  as you know their limits and how they must deal with them.

I am also not a fan of the animation style. It is smooth and well done in the animation part, but I do not like the style of how the show is presented. It looks like a very basic and average Miku Miku Dance video (MMD). There are a lot of unnatural and awkward animations, and there is no shading, or really much detail in a lot of things from what i saw. I was just disappointed with it considering the hype I've seen people give it.

Just my $0.02.

@, I can understand why you have second thought about the series. I agree that the characters so far haven't been shown as having to face legitimate threats and those that have are represented more in a comical manner (Jaune). I'm willing to give this show the benefit of the doubt largely because it's supposedly going to be a rather long series and promises to become much grittier with time. With this being an amateur work, I'm not overly concerned with the plot progression and technical details either. Those are my thoughts at any rate.

That's a fair point. I just feel I can't get into it unless if it was gritty, and some character development started to grow. There is no incentive for me to care about Ruby, or the others at this present time. I am possibly being a bit harsh on it comparing it to works like Claymore, which had a much higher budget. But it is important to want to care about the characters. Otherwise you can't really feel anything for them.

People always get a little upset when their favorite character dies, they tend to be a character that we attach to for various reasons. Perhaps they relate to how I act or feel in reality. Perhaps they deal with the same problems as myself. Or perhaps your favorite character has their friend die, and you are forced to see them deal with it. It can be a very immerse feeling for any form of media. Like I was so shocked when we had Mami Tomoe die in the 2nd episode of Madoka Magica, or when Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan "died" in about the 5 or 6th episode. This is not exactly a budget situation for RBWY, just a writing situation i disagree with.

At this moment the characters have cool combat scenes, sure. But until they have more development to make me care, and be concerned when they fight; I can't watch it. Maybe in the future though.

Thing with RWBY is that it's much closer to the typical Shounen setting. I don't know if it's appropriate to compare it to series like Claymore and Shingeki no Kyojin which are Seinen series for all intents and purposes. RWBY does promise to turn to that eventually, judging from the trailers, but it's never really gone out of its way to advertise itself as a series with similar premises as the shows you're comparing them to. Not that I'm saying you're wrong to do so as everyone has their preferences on what to read/watch. It's merely a different context that I'm viewing RWBY as opposed to SnK or the likes.

Touche, I wasn't really trying to compare it to those series, but more or less try to explain my point with their examples. More or less I was just trying to say that it just lack immersion due to the lack of character development. Once they establish those connections, then I'll probably gain interest.

I just meant to say that those shows specifically got me interested due to how they got the characters so fleshed out in the beginning. Hopefully this series does the same for it's fans.

Typical Shounese tend to be much slower in fleshing out characters, and with RWBY it also has to do with the fact the episodes are really short so characters don't really get a lot of time to develop in one episode. If they were all at least 15 minutes long, characters would certainly have a lot more chances to develop.

I've been keeping up with them. I watch them at the soonest possible time once they come out. I honestly want to see more of Nora and Lie Ren, kind of because I want to see Nora in action and also because I think there's more to Lie Ren than meets the eye. I feel like he had a dark past or something of the sort. I feel like Jaune is going to be the typical character that has no idea what he's doing, but has huge potential and has a really famous ancestor or something.. I'm also wondering why Ruby was falling at the end of the most recent episode....

I just got a sneak peak of the next episode!

Hopefully it'll be quite a bit longer than usual considering it'll be the first time we see all four girls fighting together.

Skip ahead to 1m04s to see it :33

Dat Siggy bro

Also gonna say, Nora is my Favourite character of them all so far. She's sorta like me, in a few ways, including the hooping of people's noses

Boop!

I can also predict that by the end of the first season, they may bring down Crimson (The Dust wielding girl in the Pilot) but rather than just one, there will be many more to face next season (ie in the opening there are multiple dust wielding fellows, probably with different specialties), maybe even a legion or group of them. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

So I've caught up to recent episodes.. I think. When I only knew about the show from the trailers I was really looking forward to it. When the first episode came out I was kind of dissapointed with how the characters were. I thought it would be more of an action show than one with lots of humor. I usually love lots of humor but for whatever reason I don't like it in RWBY. It's a good show but just not as good as I thought it was going to be.

Try listening to the RT podcasts and other things, Monty tends to explain alot of things on stuff like that. On one thing he said that RWBY wasn't going to be just action action action all the time, and it would be like an actual anime with some humor and character development. Trust me, if it was just action all the time, there would be no character development and the show would become bland and boring. So going into the show knowing that, it seems really good to me.

Oh my gosh. I just watched episode 8 and it was amazing! I loved Nora's fighting style and weapons, as well as her getting slightly more serious when she worked with her team. l also loved seeing Jaune lead his team, it was a coupe brief seconds but he directed Pyrah and Nora like he had worked with them for years. Oh yea and then there was the whole bird scene with a Team RWBY :P That was pretty awesome too. I feel like Team CRDL or whatever it was might become a rival team to RWBY and JNPR.

Yep episode 8 was action packed. Nora definitely has an interesting style (those poses XD) and a cool weapon. Of team JNPR, my favorite is definitely Pyrrha for now though.

Can't wait for the next episode; I wait to see what the baddies have in store.

You know, the fight scenes are well animated but the normal movements are still pretty spotty. I hope that gets better as we go along

Well, Nora is definitely my Favourite, with her Fighting Style, and her freaking pose. Not only is it a rocket launcher that shoots pink love heart grenades, but it also becomes an awesome hammer thingy.

Episode 8 was Awesome, and overall, the best episode yet. The wiki said it was gonna be called team Jaun, but they lied to us. I can't wait to see more episodes.

The one thing I'm more interested in is Dust. In the first episode, and the trailer, there are several people using dust as a weapon. I can't wait to see more of that kind of thing.

Until the Next Episode releases, I'm gonna waste some time on other Rooster Teeth Lets Plays, and stuff. Like I usually do.

Without a shadow of doubt, Nora is RWBY's answer to Pinkie Pie. The reason behind it should be far too obvious even to non-MLP fans who have some knowledge of the series

I adored the episode and I wanna see it again before ep 9 comes out. My boy Jaune showing his worth as a leader when things got really tough was awesome. Then there was Yang SOLOING that giant bird for some time. I don't care what anyone else says, but those shotgun fists still beat the crap out of anything that's been shown so far :P

Can't wait to see what's in the next episode, and CRDL is bound to be awesome. They all look like they'll be heavy weapon specialists :33
