gaming What is the most saddest video game death that you have seen.

Yep, it was shown at the end of 3. He went into stasis and Cortana stayed there standing on the platform in the middle of the room. If you finished Legendary, as I said, it showed the ship then spiraling toward a dark planet... or was this whole section hidden in the Legendary ending? Its been awhile.   *runs off to youtube to check*

Oh hey.. looks like it was only in the legendary one... After the credits finished (gotta sit through them all) it shows a final Scene as it had in previous games.

Well, shit, Bungee sure knows how to make a dramatic ending, even if the main character isn't actually dead. Props to them. It sort of reminds me of the end of the second Sherlock Holmes movie.

Spoiler tags are there for a reason people.

For me, this is the saddest thing ever, in any game actually, it's the end of Metal Gear Solid 3;

Heh.. shame that

She's also no deader than Master chief :P

At least they played her as dead in this one though..

She was there in MGS4, much like Big Boss who was also said to have been long dead.

This reminds me though.. i never finished 3... The low resolution always drove me insane in that one, and i had the HD one on the Vita.. but i traded that in..

hmm oh hey.. PS2 emulator and the original disc... *runs off to play MGS3 HD without buying new copies of the same game*

Out of all the video games I've played with deaths in them that made others cry, none of them made me cry. Yeah, I felt sad, but that's about it. But, then I played The Last of Us. Some scenes in that game really got to me.

It wasn't Tess' or Sarah's deaths, but the deaths of Sam and Henry. I never expected Sam to get infected. I only thought the 4 would go their separate ways and that would be that. But no, Naughty Dog had to kill them off. When Henry put Sam out of his misery, I did not expect him to pull the trigger on himself. I actually didn't know what to expect. I was really surprised when that happened and because of that, manly tears were shed that day.

I remember that. When I saw the bite mark on Sam I was like "Oh no..... " then when Henry killed him my first thought was "Joel! Get that gun away from him!" I knew that he was going to kill himself. Mainly because I myself have a younger brother and If i just had to kill him..... Someone I care about so much.... The last person I really have and my main reason for going on.... I'd probably turn the gun on myself.

IS IT A DUCK!!?? A PLANE!!!?? A TREE???!!! NO! IT'S DUCK TREE PLANE MAN!!! DEFENDING TURTLES EVERYWHERE!!!!

Spoilers, bitches!

Tidus in Final Fantasy 10, he doens't actually die, but we can tell that he sorta does.

Metal Gear Solid 3, when Snake kills The Boss, I cried a 'lil bit

Lastly the death of Sarah in the last of us. Although I expected the game to be a 'lil bit better, the death of Sarah destroyed me.

The first is actually two deaths rolled into one. The scene in CoD4 where Gaz and Griggs died within 30 seconds of each other really got me.

The second is the scene in Walking Dead when Lee dies (or is killed by Clem, look at it how you want) I didn't cry, but it was BAD. I was all depressed for the next three days.

The last one comes from Red Dead Redemption, the scene where John is shot dozens of times. It was the only scene in gaming that made me cry. Ever.

Guild Wars 2 Spoilers (level 50 quest)

God damn it, Tybalt, why did Arenanet have to kill you off!?

Tybalt is a character that joins your quest at around level 20 when you have the chance to join the order of whispers. He's a bumbling character that doesn't really fit his order and acts as sort of a mentor for you. I couldn't help but love this character, he's easily one of the most personable characters in the entire game that doesn't come off as a horrible cliche.

After 30 levels of story quests, your mentor, no matter what order you picked, is doomed to die to start the final chapters of the story. Afterwards, your mentor is replaced by quite possibly the blandest mary sue I've seen in the entire Guild Wars franchaise that steals credit for everything you do past that quest. That's quite a feat considering how utterly useless Kormir was in Nightfall!

Well, here's the scene... :(

Spartans never die, they just go missing in action.

I'm sorry, but Tales of Symphonia is so sad and I found myself crying too much! The whole freaking story was heartbreaking!

The saddest death for me has to be Marble's at the very beginning of the game. It was very unexpected and such a shock that there is no way you can forget it.

This entire thread could probably consist of spoiler tags frankly.

Even the title :P. If it isn't obvious enough.

Mines for pokemon mystery dungeon 2, don't click the spoiler if you don't the game well spoiled.

The saddest one for me is the one in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, when you die, or sort of die, its literally so sad, and the thing is, its your death, but your death breaks so many hearts its sad even to you. Thats actually pretty powerful if you ask me. Plus the music and everything just makes it so sad. I almost cried, maybe got a little teary eyed the first time, maybe the 2nd or so, i dunno if i ever flat out cried, but I probably would've if i wasn't normally somewhere it'd be embarrassing to.

I can't think of anymore at this moment really.

I never played Gears of War, but I watched my brother play them, and I did find Dom's death a bit sad. Another one I know is Jak 3, where Jak finds out that Damas is his father before he dies.

The saddest for me has to be in season 1 of The Walking Dead Telltale game. A lot of people die in that of course, but the saddest has to be (for those that have not finished season 1)

Lee's death. Just...wow. I never cried so much to not just any video game moment, but any moment in any form of media ever. I cried for two hours straight. Yeah, I am a weakling, but I am emotional, so, sue me with a truck or whatever. 2nd place would be Duck's death, because of Kenny. The atmosphere was so deep there as well.

Yeah...I did not enjoy those parts at all but, it shows how brilliant the game is.

It wasn't really a death scene because he came back to life in the next game but here's mine...

Right after using chaos control to stop the space colony ark from crashing into mobius (or earth if you haven't played the game yet), Super Sonic looked back to see his faker friend, Shadow the hedgehog, falling from exhaustion down to mobius/earth. And these were his last words. "Maria...this is what you wanted, isn't it?" (from Sonic Adventure 2)

When I saw that event, I was like "Oh God, no!" I don't know about you, but that was pretty sad for me.

Assassin's Creed 3

Achilles' death. The death itself wasn't that bad, since it was expected, but the letter narrated as Connor digs the grave and the funeral itself both made me cry.

Journey

The ending. It's left ambiguous as to what the ending means, but it seems to imply that the final test of the journey was walking into certain death without giving up and that the main character(s) ascended to the afterlife/became one with the universe.

Not really a "sad" death, but lots of tears were shed.

Johnny in Two the Moon. You know he's gonna die. You know through the whole game, beginning to end. But the way you learn about his life throughout the gameplay makes it so dang sad!!! :(

Witch's House spoilers

In the one true ending, you find that the girl you were playing as the whole time was actually the villain, and the one you thought was the villain was originally the girl. The villain had taken the girl's body and used it as her own. The girl's father ends up shooting the girl stuck in the villain's body, as he does not know that is his child. It's rather confusing to explain, but it was really sad in the game.

And the last one is a spoiler from Rule of Rose

Even though Brown doesn't stay dead (how he came back, I'm still not sure), the moment that Wendy said that dog was in the bloody sack at the corner of the room, I teared up. It was so sad! Then Jennifer finally manned up and slapped that girl into oblivion, so that was good. But even though he came back, I was really sad for that one chapter that I thought he was dead.

I don't really know all that many games that have really sad deaths, but that's some of the few I remember.
