What exciting thing happened to you today?

I ate an apple, it was a Granny Smith. That's about as exciting as it gets for me.

Today was a pretty average day. I did find a glitch in GTA 4 that if you run into a swing set it might glitch out and sending you and your car flying twenty blocks. That was pretty exciting.

You only just found out about that!? Have you been living under a rock since 2008?

Well, first I woke up. Then, the doorbell rings and I open the door. Nothing's there except a package with my name on it. I open it and...

I forgot the rest. I think I stopped a nuclear war? I'm not too sure. My head hurts though.

Actually I have been living under a rock since 2008! But seriously, I just started playing it a few weeks ago and I just happened to not  know about that glitch.

I clawed my way out of bed this morning at 10:00 AM and got on skype to talk to my friends about playing some gamecube later today. My friends bringing Wind Waker and I've got melee and some other games at my house. It's going to be awesome.

Today, I feel that I have made a major step forward in deciding where I want to go in life. More specifically, I have made a major stride in figuring out what exactly it is that I want to do in the professional sphere of life. I know that I am interested in mathematics, astronomy, theoretical physics, philosophy, literature, writing, consciousness, dreams, religion, the afterlife, near-death experiences, out of body experiences, lucid dreaming, and so on. But, the question that I find to be difficult is what career path should I choose that allows me to work with those interests to better the world and myself?

I have considered different ideas over the past several years, but today I came across an idea that resonated with me deeply: the idea of becoming an astronomer. It is not a new idea, I have considered it in the past, but today I realized how much I would love that sort of a job. It is not just observing the night sky, which would be a phenomenal experience but most likely not something I could do for years and years for a job as I need more variety, but studying the universe and what is in it. I would most likely augment my astronomical endeavors with explorations in astrophysics and cosmology, which would offer a rich field of scientific endeavor through which I could explore the universe. Combining this with spiritual endeavors in my personal life, I feel that I would be able to begin to form a more complete picture of reality.

I have had a deep love and fascination with space, celestial bodies, extraterrestrial beings, and so on for a long time, and a scientific exploration involving astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, and perhaps other disciplines could help me to learn so much more about it, and further humankind's knowledge concerning what lay beyond our planet.

I am not entirely sure yet what degrees I will seek in college, but I do have a current plan that I will may change over time. I could complete a double major in Physics and Astronomy at an accredited university, allowing me to gain invaluable experience in both. Then, I could go on to earn a PhD in Astronomy, and possibly one in Physics as well. Following that, I would do postdoctoral work in astronomy, astrophysics, and/or cosmology, eventually leading into earning a more permanent research position somewhere.

Just like SCS, I found out something college related today. My preferred college course has been jumping around a lot in terms of what it wanted to be. There was a point where I wanted to take computer science, there was a point where I wanted something engineering-esque, and many other stuff. I even considered something about agricultural science (because of various reasons).

My last resort was always something business related since that was the direction the job trends are going, and it always seemed like I would end up taking that since I would always be stumped in making a final decision of what I really wanted as a career. I was always having difficulty in figuring out a job that I wouldn't dread going to everyday.

Today, I stumbled upon this course called "Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering." I didn't know such a course existed! (insert slowpoke meme here) I was pretty excited that this course offered practicality (Engineering) and science-esque (Agricultural/Biological Sciences) things at the same time. It was also pretty cool to find out that they didn't go too intensely in any of the disciplines, but rather it (kinda) fanned out in terms of what you were gonna study.

My preference might change again, though. I'm not entirely sure about this, and the availability of this course in colleges plus the current job trends of our country aren't really helping.

Edit: I might have changed my mind again, concerning what college course I want. >.<

Today I learned I have a second war veteran in the family tree, Lieutenant Skill who served in the First world War. I went on a researching frenzy.

The first clues was his papers saying he had a successful medical check February 1916 and stating he served 6 previous years with the Algonquin Regiment. With the 150th (Carabiniers Mont Royal) Battalion he set sail for England September 1916 and when he arrived he was absorbed into the 58th Battalion (Royal Regiment of Canada - infantry). I believe he would of saw some action at the Somme (July - November). He would of been seen action at Vimy Ridge (a very significant battle in Canadian history). He was killed in action October 26th, 1917 at the age of 35 on the first day of the Second Battle Of Passchendaele. He is on panel 30 of the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres, Belgium. His occupation before the war was a mining recorder in Elk Lake, northern Ontario.
