I've been wondering how many years will last this series' legacy after the final episode. Could this series be remembered for generations or it will just be forgotten quickly within 2 or maybe 5 years?

What do you think?

I am hoping it will go up to at least season 10 but to be honest I have my doubts :(. Still, I think G4 will always be remembered as a turning point for this franchise and if G5 keeps the spirit and the positives of it the fandom will stay. And it would be hard to forget G4 for us :D!

I'm betting it'll last indefinitely. Sure, maybe not any more than 100 years, but 20 years is too short. I mean, it broke down steriotypes, and much more. If not known for its plot, it will be known for its effect on humanity.

Unfortunately, I think it will start to die down. From what I have seen, the new episodes are what keep the material going. We haven't seen much from the music side of things in a few months, but the art is still flowing ok, so I guess I really don't know what to think, but I hope it carries on for awhile.

Hi there, @@InvaderShy. Since the topic of your thread is very similar in nature to the topic of this already existing thread, yours has been merged into it. Just letting you know. ;)

I'm incline to think, the bronies will exist well in the future, even as the final episode concludes, Star War and Star Trek have their fans despite setbacks. Batman the Animated Series and MST3K still have an audience, sure some fans will fall out in favour, yet the internet can extend and flourish MLP-FiM, whether it's the main characters, secondary characters or original characters, fan videos will be made, fan music will continue and art will keep Friendship is Magic in the bronies conscience and conversation, the show will still have present and future.

I'm sure the fandom will stick around after the final episode. All fandoms do after thier show ends.

Just look at DBZ which ended like a decade ago. It's fanbase is still strong.

well that's not true they just put out a new movie not to long ago.

I noticed sonic still has a fan base and i think they haven't done any new animation series with that.

Obviously, The Lord of Darkness from Legend will descend upon Equistra, ushering in an age of untold suffering and, well uh...

DARKNESS! Also, Rarity will go bald, and everypony will suffer her drama.

DARK LORD I SERVE UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU... *cough, cough.* I mean that would be terrible.

If only something this evil would come to pony land LOL.

I originally posted 10 years since the first thing that came to mind was other shows/series that ended like bionicle. I'm not familiar with how strong they are standing as a fandom as if now, ..but stuff fades away after a while.

Then I saw ember's post considering dragon all; they have particularly lasted a long time and I actually still stick around watching vids like its abridged series, so maybe mlp will see the same fate or lack of ending? There are so many contributions from bronies that we could probably create our own series!.... Is there an mlp abridged series?

will happen after the Brone fandom ends, along with the show.

Hasbro (if they even attempt to bring a G5), will most likely run it to the ground.

The brones will look at all of their My Little Pony memorabilia, and enjoy the times they had, and just stow it away in the closet.

Unless,

The brones decide to take the show into their own hands, and make it a fan-made show, with a team assorted around the world, just like Eddsworld.

I find the latter option to be the most likely, so really, MLP will most likely never end.

Just because the show would have ended does not mean that all of the episodes are going to disappear off the face of the planet.  Even when it ends the community will still get new members and ultimately lose some. People will still get inspired by the show and probably create even more fan fic because there will be no more official episodes. I don't think the fanbase is going to die anytime soon.

I would say maybe about 50-70 years. There will be like 80 year old bronies doing brohoofs and going to bronycon in a wheelchair.

Well, I think that the fandom would still be alive after it ends. But I think it could stay on for about 3 more years maybe. We will still all love MLP lol.

I'll be really super duper sad though...I'll miss it very much. :'( All of y'all are really nice.

Well, i think run into the ground would take alot.

As apposed to a hand full of nit pickie things that fans will find wether they exist or not.

Meaning, the show would simply cease to be fun.

When sitting down for a half hour became a labor, or a moment in remembering.

the fandom will die down in size... sad but true. but, i think the people that really were a part of it, and into it will be here to stay. as for me, the fun and good lessons will stick with me. be it from the show, and the fandom :P friendship and tolerance :D

I think it will last forever. Or at least I really really really really REALLY want it to. And with everybody saying that it will, I'm not very worried either. img-1896388-1-laugh.png

Yeah! we must count of g1 to g3, we may not like them, but it counts as the pioneers of this Fandom, MLP has existed since 80's, think about it! now that MLP is the most famous show on the internet, Hasbro is not going to lose the chance and i think that hasbro os slowly (very slowly) pleasing us bronies like Derpy

Wait... what if there ends of being a g5... that could either be absolutely amazing... or the worst thing in existence.

But like you said I'm sure Hasbro won't lose this amazing breakthrough that they have...

I think this forum will live on much longer than the show. I know I'll be coming back here regardless if the show ended 3 years from now or tomorrow. We here at this forum have been through a lot, and well I consider you guys a part of my other family. Think about how long the MLP franchise has been around. FIM will end someday and who know generation five may be just as good

That's what I would do, at least.

But I think the fandom will live on, with all the fan fiction and fan made series going on, it just won't die.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that MLP and the bronies have had an impact on the internet, and the world. After MLP ends, I believe that inevitably, the bronies will slowly die. Some people lie to themselves and say that wouldn't happen, but we have seen that even between seasons, the fandom slows down. What happens when there isn't a season to keep people psyched to come back. The fandom would live for a couple years, and then it would eventually die out. I do, however, believe there would be, legends, if you will, created by this destruction. There would be a few bronies left, that would carry on the legacy of us. Every now and then, you would come across a pony pic, and reminisce about those times. DeviantArt would become, a sort of hieroglyph safe. You could go there, and remember the days of the bronies, and how we ruled the internet. BronyCon wouldn't be around anymore. MLPforums would be a ghost town, as would EqD. Those few bronies would surf the internet, forever trying to find each other, to slowly build a place to belong. It is up to these few bronies to carry on, and do what we couldn't.

Good lord, someone write a fanfic.
