Would the world die over time?

Would the world die over time along with all life, or does the world go on forever without end in the canon universe of this show? 

 

If it does indeed end, how would it end? And who be the last Pony be alive before the expanding shell of their sun (or something else end their world), which now a red giant swallows the planet whole, melting to do nothing as if Equestra wasn't there in the first place?

 

Hopefully some can get off the planet to safety somewhere else before that happens. But anyway, how do you think their world end?

Their world has to die sometime since everything can not live forever unless your immortal. Other than that the plants, animals, everything else would die in the process due to a huge threat that could destroy Equestria or something indestructible.

If I be boring about it, their world would end similarly to how our world would end.

 

Since Equestria is described as a magical place we can fantasize different things. Discord is the spirit of chaos. We can assume other spirits exist but who created them; who created the world of Equestria. Perhaps a god, a creator which formed their world and puts spirits on that world to help it. If you know anything about the lore about the creation of the world in Lord Of The Rings in my head the creation of Equestria is quite similar. If we think there is a god we can assume their world would never end unless somepony tried to end it.

Everyone has to end, so yes. Suns last for a long time, so when the sun dies out, there's no sun to have heat, food, etc.

 

Even with Ponyville doing just fine without a lot of technology, the population will decrease when the sun dies out.

It will not, if Discord helps Her Highness to prevent it.

Otherwise, it may well die in 3-4 thousend years when it will become impossible to further maintain the "sun".

And why did I mention Discord? Just think about it: what is so important, why Her Highness needs him so desperately (Calm Down and Flatter on)?

I'm not really sure how to answer this as accurately as I can.

 

Because on the most realistic kind of standards, yes, I do believe Equestria, like all planets and worlds, must eventually come to an end. Since it is only natural. Things grow, things wear down, things change. Nothing can ever stay the same. Eventually something threatening or ominous could occur and that would be end of Equestria. 

 

Perhaps the death of the Sun. Who knows.

 

But if we're talking cannonically, then I doubt the writer's will ever mention the future fate of Equestria as a whole.

Theoretically, yes and no at the same time. The yes comes from what we know of the life cycle of planets/stars, and yes, Equestria will die once its sun does. However, throwing magic into the equation complicates things. We do not know the limitations, if any, of magic itself or things like Alicorns and Discord, so it is possible for magic to keep the sun going forever.  There is also the fact that we don't know what the laws of science are like in Equestria compared to our universe, so it may be that stars don't die at all there.

 

But what can be said for sure, is that it will never be addressed canonically. Fanfics on the other hand....

Well if magic exist in their world most likely it won't end because of the sun going out.

 

I have always believed that the changelings would be the creators to end the world. Due to the fact they eat love from other creators to survive, they would eat one being after another. Until there would be nothing left for them to eat, but themselves.

I think it would, especially since it seems to entirely depend on the ponies to keep it running.  If Celestia and Luna died somehow, the raising of the sun and the moon would fall on the shoulders of the unicorns, just like it did back in the day.  But would the unicorns even remember those spells?

 

And of course there are the constant external threats.  Eventually one of them might succeed, and even if they don't kill everyone off, they might weaken the population to the point where each of the races aren't strong enough to do their part in their upkeep of nature.
