So Fancy Pants is what you are saying....I'm not sure why people aren't noticing that he's all the characteristics that you outlined and been with her in 2 cannon episodes. Plus he likes her friends despite their uncouth behavior at the time.

 

You're ignoring the first quality I mentioned, and how dating a *literal* male Rarity plays perfectly into her huge sense of vanity.  It's *that*, coupled with the other qualities mentioned, is what makes Rarity/Elusive my favorite pairing.

I ship her primarily with Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The one-sidedness and the age difference turns me off to Sparity, I don't know what would motivate me to ship her with Thunderlane, and as for Fancy Pants, eh. It's fine, and is probably more likely to happen than other pairings, but I don't really have any strong feelings for the ship either way.

 

Applejack on the other hand, I love with Rarity. All their interactions in Look Before Your Sleep, The Crystal Empire, and in general turn out to be gold. I like the idea of them falling for someone so utterly different from themselves and learning to appreciate the virtues and lifestyle of the other.

 

 

Rarity and Dash on the other hand, have none of that canon material to point to it. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of you had never given the pairing more than a passing thought, if that. But they have much more in common than they (and many of their fans) would acknowledge. For one, they're both the characters that are defined by their desires to move up in the world and achieve a goal. Very different goals to be sure, but still they could relate to each other greatly if they could look past that. At the same time, they're the two members of the Mane Six that are most defined by and most concerned with how they are seen by others. They also have a lot of the contrasts that make the Rarity/Applejack pairing so appealing to me. I admit that for this one, I'm influenced by some really excellent fanfics I've read that sort of sold the pairing to me and made me think of it differently than I had before.

TOP 10 REASONS WHY SPARITY IS BEST SHIP:

1. They are the best characters on the show.
2. It's and underdog story where sweetness and just being a cool person gets the girl.
3. Has proper build-up thus far, so unlike something like FlashLight that felt forced and out of nowhere, it'd feel natural if they got together.
4. She's encouraging it. I think. I dunno, I can't read ladies.
5. It's super-duper-trooper cute.
6. Their personalities are similar but different enough to be an interesting pair.
7. It's hilarious when they interact.
8. There's some opposition to them getting together (his being a dragon and all), but it isn't the sole defining trait in their relationship (like, it isn't like Attack of the Clones where George Lucas thinks the only thing that makes a romance is how hard it is to get together).
9. She reverted him back to his pony-riffic self after he went full dragon and he saved her from having her soul destroyed by a vengeful demi-godess who took over her body. They've got kind of a thing going.

I voted Fancy Pants, just because the two made such a cute pair in the few episodes he appeared in. Not to mention the snap shot photo of them in the ending of The Canterlot Wedding!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

 

Rarity and Applejack would make a great couple for reasons people before have stated but also because although it would cause controversy to soccers moms and the like it'd be a lovely symbol of gay tolerance if an openly gay couple was in a children's show. Plus, they seems like they'd work together so well and the popularity of Rarijack just shows how I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Applejack of course why is she not an option? The females in this show are way more interesting than the males, they actually have a personality outside of Spike and Discord. That's why I support F/F shippings if I ship them with a male I might as well ship them with an OC.

 

After EG I just can't see Spike and Rarity that's just to weird.

As cute as it would be for Spike to have a chance with Rarity, there's just too big of an age gap.  Spike is a baby dragon, and if equestria girls is canon, then Rarity is at LEAST in high school.  But I think if the age gap didn't exist, that'd be a great pairing.

Fancy Pants. They respect each other, but their relationship does not seem totally platonic either. I know FP is already with Fleur, but she's kind of silly and shallow and falls all over him. Fancy is a bright stallion who likes to socialize, and I doubt if Fleur offers a lot of stimulating conversation. When he met Rarity, he nearly forgot she was there.

 

So he's my pick if it has to be a stallion. If it can be anyone, Applejack! Because Rarijack is brilliant.

To be fair, Spike seems to be the "More mature than he looks" type of character. I'm not really sure if age could really be the determining factor as Spike is very mature for his age.

 

Rarity wants a someone that's sweet, caring and charming. Spike pretty much fits all those qualities of the guy that Rarity would want.

I guess if I had to pick a possibly 'canon' relationship for Rarity it would be her and Spike, although I kind of like the way they are with each other now I'd like to see him try to take his advances at least a little further for at least one episode(where everything would go back to normal at the end of course or something).

None of the above. While Spike's crush is fine, he's still a child and any relationship between them would be icky regardless of how dragons age. Fancy Pants is out since presumably he's either married to or dating Fleur already. Nothing really to say about the others, though if the show ever does put her into any kind of relationship then Thunderlane would probably be the safest bet.

 

What then you ask is my favorite Rarity pairing?
