Hi!

I was wondering if there was a for me to request for a thread to be pinned. It's because it would be really nice for me to pin my OC review thread because it'll allow everyone to know that I want to review (and give advice) for their OCs. There's been plenty of times where people want advice for their OCs but never seem to see a whole thread where a person would review their OCs.

Here's the thread by the way:

Hi Sterling, unfortunatly the only topics that are allowed to be pinned are those directly relating to staff buisness and forum organisation. This is to keep the forum tidy and organised as having too many pinned topics can push down the newer member topics and draw attention away from them. So there is no current way to get any topic pinned unless its relating to forum buisness.

Technically speaking, pinning specifics depend on the forum :P We're selective on what gets pinned in general, but what ends up getting pinned is different from forum to forum. For example, there is nothing business related whatsoever pinned in the main discussion areas of the forum. Only incredibly popular topics that get used daily, and are so broad that they are unlikely to ever lose momentum. As far as Creative Resources specifically goes, it tends to be broad, wide-spread threads that serve a specific purpose that can and will be used by artists and users. I pinned the Writing Centre because it covers everything from proofreading to getting tips on general writing, which is a huge hub of interaction and helpful information.

That's a theme you'll find across pinned threads. Pretty much all member threads that get pinned (that aren't in the main discussion areas), have some kind of broader purpose that serves to fulfill a function for the community as a whole. The writing center in CR aides in writing. The pinned topic in Life Advice serves for giving advice to bronies who are afraid or unsure of how to come out to their friends and family, etc. Individual topics like 'I'll review your OC's' isn't quite the same thing :)

All this aside, no one should feel like they can't ask a mod or something else about a thread possibly being pinned. The worst that can happen is the staff giving a 'no', with a reason why. Everyone goes home and continues having fun at the end of the day.
