Howdy folks!

 

Picked up the book today.

 

Its the animated series in book format covering parts 1 & 2 of the series premere.

Gotta say IDW did a pretty good job.

 

Some tweeks to the book I should mention.

For those who watched the episodes.

While Twilight & Spike was at AJs Farm.

Granny Smith's intro was removed.

  Kinda scratching my head.

In the Town Hall where Nightmare Moon made her appearance.

Pinike guessing who she was was left out.

While the ponies was in the Everfree Forest Pinike's Giggle At The Ghosties was shortened.

They shoulda had whole lyrics to that IMO.

 

But other than that for fans of the show its well worth it.

 

Hopefully they'll come out with more animated books.

 

Interesting that I got my copy at the local comic book shop.

Amazon has it on order but it says Oct.22.

Well, they can probably only publish so many pages per issue, plus there's also deadlines to think about.

 

Length aside, the song was probably shortened/omitted because lyrics aren't necessarily the same as hearing the song itself, and they probably reasoned that fans wouldn't enjoy it as much which is why it was shortened.

 

But, so far IDW has done well by me-so if the first two issues sell well and get good reception from the fandom, then they'll probably publish more.

I kinda like the idea that IDW put the series in "Comic" form.  And the fact that it's in one Graphic Novel is nice as well.  I'm not a fan of collecting individual comics.  But anyways, it seems neat and creative.  I've seen a couple of pages from it and your right, it does look nice the way they have done it.

 

With some of those things cut out, I can kinda see why they did that.  Maybe to make space so the could fit it into a desired amount of pages.  To cut costs maybe?  I don't know, those things bother me a bit also that they were left out.  But I think I can get over that.

 

Overall it seems pretty nice.  How much did you get yours for?

Or online at Amazon for $7.19 last i checked.

 

Hopefully IDW makes more of the books.
