Pre-Equestrian homeland?

I couldn't find any thread on this anywhere, so I started my own. Where do you think the land ponies inhabited before Heart's Warming Eve (i.e. Pre-Equestria) was? Is it still of any significance? Let me hear what you think.

well if hearth's warming eve episode is anything to go by, my guess would the area around the crystal empire. it's all cold and snowy and windy

 

it would also provide a nice folktale explanation for the frozen area in addition to founding of equestria :3

The one thought that occurs is that the 'Equestria' founded at the end of the Hearth's Warming Eve story is a lot smaller than the one currently existing. Basically over the unknown number of years since then, Equestria expanded to encompass the lands the ponies originally 'came' from, driving the Windigoes back into the most northern reaches.

I would have to say it is probably somewhere in the frozen north over the crystal mountains. The windigos made everything freeze so it makes sense that it would be up there. And the crystal empire is up there and they lose contact with them at about the same that they move out right.

Thanks! I always though it was somewhere in the Frozen North. However, that is also where the crystal empire is/was. Could this have any correlation? What if crystal ponies have something to do with windigos? Probably not, though, because the Crystal Empire is a temperate climate 'cause magic.

The defeat of the Wendigos was more or less to little, to late the original homeland the damage was permanent [and why didn't the pegesi homeland not fall from the sky with the extra weight??] forcing them to migrate.

 

If you look at the crystal empire itself you'll notice its immediate perimeter is green grass. I believe the crystals might also possess environment altering properites, the crystal ponies using them to reclaim the land and more or less create a biodome in an otherwise harsh landscape.

I have a headcannon which will be a big part in an epic I plan to write. The Chrystal empire was the major nation in the northern lands, and many communities were established around the empire, separate nations founded by the Pegasai, the Unicorns, and the Earth Ponies, with the Crystal ponies serving as peacemakers, the four nations living in harmony. Until Sombra for whatever reason took the Crystal empire down with him, causing a major economic and political power to disappear, leaving the other three pony races to struggle over the gap. The loss of food, supplies, resources and stability along with the struggle to find either balance or superiority would fuel the ponies hatred, and the strength of the windigoes that would drive the land into a perpetual ice age. With no staple super power or economy, everypony migrated south in hopes of a better life.

I think Hearths Warming Eve to me, has a weird interpretation of the pre-Equestrian lands in the old days. But, I think that Manehattan was probably around during that time.
