web Opinion on Youtube's newest feature on the comment section

I miss the old days where you could just have a youtube account. I hate how it's blended into the whole google+ thing.

Anyways the new comment thing doesn't surprise me. Youtube seems to be getting suckier with each change...*sigh*. It could be worse, I suppose.

I don't really care, I use YouTube for the videos, not the vile comments people leave on them. People will get worked up over any change to the websites they regularly use, but when the change only affects something as horrible as the YouTube comments section, does it really matter?

Now it's like an online democracy filled with pure default crap. We want the old YT back, is that too much to ask?

They should've left it alone in the first place.

"Online democracy" is too generous of a label to apply to today's YouTube. From my experience, it has mostly regressed since then.

Yep, it's a disaster. As someone who's had some sort of channel on it since late 2007/early 2008, the loss of the traditional inbox, and the ability to see a couple of the top comments with a default consecutive list of the latest comments is upsetting for me, to say the least. So much so that I'm seriously considering deleting my Google account by the end of the year, and switching to Dailymotion for my uploads. It also reminded me that there are alot worse services than Poniverse, which is why I haven't posted here for a while.

Whoever thought that the business practise of constantly changing the design, presentation and functionality of web services for the sake of it was a good idea, and putting shareholders ahead of consumers, should be sent down a hole to the centre of the earth. Infact, I've already started uncovering the mystery: here is Marissa Mayer's take on the Yahoo Mail redesign that roled out a month ago. Given that she was a Google executive for a while, this may be extremely relevant.

I really don't like the new system of youtubedry.png

I would love to use a different video platform, but unfortunately most creatures don't use other ones. So the most videos I liked to watch are not on Vimeo and it would be a long time before the majority of dissapointed youtube users switch to another platform.

But I would love to see another legitimate site rising from the anger on youtube. This could be a good chance for other websites : ]

YouTube's comment system suddenly disappeared for me on all videos, like 10 minutes ago. Nothing. Silch. Just the description. Tried signing out and in again, no difference. If Google have decided to switch back to the old system, or at least revise some of the settings, then I will be utterly shocked and amazed given their corporate position right now. No matter what though, they'll still have left an extremely sour taste in my mouth from a couple of days ago.

All I know is that I’m not allowed the option of giving negative reactions on ‘certain videos.’ It’s open season on everything else, apparently. As long as it makes YT phonies look good when they posture for the media.

You mean, You literally can't press a thumb down? May I have an example video?

Now that's a change that is not even disturbing anymore. It's far worse.

I remember when they changed. J forget what I didn’t like about the new and what I liked with the old. Current layout letting me sort by new or popular I like. I think the old layout was kinda scrambled IIRC

Rather than it being a matter of YT controlling the thumbs-down on certain specific posts, apparently they’ve applied this to all posts. That way they can hide their actual motives under a wider blanket of BS.

Here's a video that covers it well:

I don't recall much of a change in the YouTube comments. I hardly ever post in the comments anyways, though I do read the top ones sometimes.
