Oh...umm...well...I am pretty old school.  I really don't feel like it'd be near as much for me putting ponies on/in popular vehicles of today.  I am not steampunk (although, if it wasn't for the historical ludicriousy  of it, I probably would be), but steam is my thing, so ponies on steam engines just makes me smile.  There are many other bronies out there with a knack for photoshop (much better than I) and probably would enjoy ponies in hot rods a lot better than I would.  If I could do what those pics portray, my little red for Ranger would be plastered with ponies, if my husband would allow for it

No idea, forza hasn't been on my radar ever. Forgot 4 even FINALLY got released after all the constant feed of info/screenshots/videos I had seen for so long and so often. I thought it was out years before it was...

 

If this is truly possible, I may just go find a copy though.. Racing is usually pretty boring IMO, but racing in pony cars... That I could find some entertainment in just for the novelty...

I don't know much about Forza at all (I own a PS2 if that tells you anything).....I just keep up with the tech part of video games, and since games of today are nearly as customizable as games on the computer, it shouldn't be too hard to firgure that kind of stuff out (with a bit of help from Google).....

Sooo... you like steam engines... but you're not a steampunk? Hmm... I don't get it  I thought steampunks are those who like old steam-era technology, sometimes mixed with some fictional technologies (like Magic, or Alchemy for example). They don't have to be historically perfect, if that was your stopper.

But if I were you, I wouldn't worry about that at all. Just post more steam engines and it will get back on ... [putting up sunglasses] tracks  Feeling guilty that I put my hoof into this race car stuff, this time I pasted some steampunk pictures. And one steam engine below, which reminds me about Celestia. I don't know why. Maybe it's the golden color which reminds me about the Sun and royalty? Or maybe the sun-like cogwheel in the middle?

 

 

It would be interesting to see Celestia playin' with this piece of well-polished metals ;-)

And I'm out of steam engine stuff.. missed the steam show this year So thinking about it makes me kinda sad.... stoopid clinical class that day....

they've a LONG way to go for that, and usually every step forward is marred by 2 steps back... Mostly in the name of anti-piracy and additional DLC sales.

UT3 had a good shot at changing that with 100% custom maps/models being importable (on the PS3 only since MS won't allow the foreign files on the Xboxes) but the game failed rather hard.. Where PC's have had the ability to do a total overhaul on a title completely fan made since 1990 or so, consoles have long since killed that for them (PC's) because the consoles aren't modifiable by choice of the designers

Closest the consoles have now is a few head choices, the newest "emblem" craze, and map editors for existing maps (that can only be played by yourself and friends, not publicly on hosted servers)

 

the ability to actually import something not native to the game is practically revolutionary for consoles... Tis why the concept of imported Forza car skins has me jumping out of my seat.

Hey, it's no problem to me where ever this topic goes, I just had to point it out in small print because I didn't forsee this happening.  I WANT THAT HOUSE!!! That is AMAZING!!!!

 

As far as steampunk goes, what "grinds my gears" the most is when people take beautiful, amazing steam machines of yesteryear and destroy them in an effort to make it 'steam punk'.  As for one example, I saw online some die hard steam punk college kids take an old Case engine, replaced the boiler with WOOD and 'remodeled' the gears and flywheels to make it "cooler."  When I saw the outcome, I almost cried. 

As for the best example of steampunk I know, I remember seeing a documentary about steam power, and there was this college aged kid who took micro technology and combined it with steam in a way to where he made metameric steam creations that just BLEW MY MIND!  What that guy does for a hobby is true steampunk my book, not taking apart a real steam machine and trying to make it "look" steampunk (when it being as it is fits the bill just fine). 

 

With these two extremely different versions of steampunk, I am not sure if I want to take up the name.  In pro-steam engine circles, the older adults do not see steampunk as anything respectable (it's pretty much insulting to older steam enthusiasts).  So because of these reasons, I'm a bit torn.  I love the neo-Victorian flare that steampunk has, and being a steam enthusiast myself, I can really see my love for steam engines really grow within the local steampunk communities....but the destruction of real steam machines and the scrutiny of my many teachers just make me uneasy.

 

 

As for the video game stuff being mentioned....I wasn't really going into the bureaucratic aspect of the video game industry, I was pointing out that there is so many customisable options in modern video games that (i as a PS2 player, thus playing games 10+ years behind) see that as awesome as having the latest, greatest computer technology out there today.  Obviously computer FAR surpass consoles and have throughout the gaming history, but the options today of customisation are insane! compared to 10 years ago.

 

Wilesco Mamods are amazing little contraptions. I can see how that one is like Celestia (of course, I doubt we'll ever see a full size Gold one). Those beautiful little machines have a very majestic flare to them that full size ones can only come close (I'm thinking of circus steam engines....or Minneapolis's since they beautifully painted).

Actually, here is my D5 Wilesco....have yet to test the waters, because I don't want to ruin its finish.

Well, back on topic!

 

It's been a while since I've done one of these, and derpy's shrug was just the best part of her appearance in Rainbow Falls.  So to commemorate her glorious return, here she is!

 

 

This pic I was originally planning on using it for Berry Punch, but for background ponies I want to use the Fanon personalities for those without much to them...so a crashed engine worked so much better for our resident drunk

 

I do plan on getting a Derpy riding ON an engine, but this engine was begging for this XD

Been forever since I made one!!! Goodness life is nuts....anyways. On Applejack Day, here's to best horse, on an Avery of course!!!

 

I am currently in a machining program at my local community college, and have access to many kinds of equipment. One such thing is called a shopbot, where i can make signs using Solidworks and Aspire....I'm thinking one of my signs will be AJ on this engine....If I make it, I will post that too!
