Hi everyone!!

Just a newbie to the forums, but I really wanted to share my art on here.

 

This time it's just my OC, Fortune Flair. I'd love some feedback from you guys!!

Absolutely spectacular. She's so adorable! And the non-show style actually makes her stand out more than most OC drawing's I've seen here. 

 

I'm curious about her costume. Is she on some sort of team? And I like the fact that her different colored hooves are on their opposite side, the same way a human moves naturally.

Heehee, I would have tried doing the show accurate style, but it's just kind of hard for me. ^^;

So I just threw my hands in the air and decided to just copy the style the best I could and have fun with it.

 

Fortune Flair is actually a circus performer, specifically a trapeze artist. She performs in the three ring circus that travels around as part of the Golden Rings Carnival. I'm going to be drawing all kind of performers and other carnival employees. It's going to be so much fun!! <333

Well, don't force yourself to do an art style you're not comfortable with. I've seen plenty of good MLP pics on deviantart that don't resemble show style at all. It doesn't make them bad. So just stick with what you're good at, or try to improve in other area's you're struggling with. Keep up the good work.

Thanks!! My main problem is doing the digital outlines. You know, how the characters all have colorful outlines.

I probably could do it, but it would take FOREVER... XP

Beware, my metal-to-ligand charge transfer inorganic chemistry addled brain may distort my review a bit:

I like the style, though I'm not entirely sure what makes it different from the show's style, other than it not being a vector, which is a pretty big "WHATEVER STILL GOOD"

 

Any reason why Fortune has a shorter tail as an adult rather than as a filly? Something to do with her career as a circus performer, maybe? Not a nitpick, I'm just wondering since I kind of like the long tail she used to have :3

Yeah that's pretty much it. I can't do vectors.

But I think the legs I did are a little bit different from the show. But I tried to get as close to the show style as possible while still just having fun.

 

I think it's more of a comfort and freedom thing for her. Kind of like what I've done personally.

My hair used to be down to my butt, but now it's just above my shoulders. But you point is also valid. You don't want to be somersaulting through the air and have you long tail get caught on something.

Actually all my stuff is hand drawn too. Only the coloring is digital.

But yeah, I draw everything with a pencil, ink it with a pen, then scan it into my computer and color it on Photoshop. 83

...beautiful. I have no other words. Simply beautiful. I love how the design is distinct, but not absurd. The style is cute, and the colours work well in my opinion, and I liked the Celtic style of the costume. Normally I like to think of a suggestion or possible change, but for this I have nothing, it is already excellent. Sometimes good can ideas mix in bad ways, but the individual elements as well as the overall flow an effect of this works quite well, and I'm betting that wasn't just the luck o' the Irish.

Wow. That is some really great work. It's just so easy to love this character from all the different stages/ages you've laid out there, on top of the vibrant colors and truly unique hairstyle. Or is it mane-style? Please excuse me if I use improper grammar here.

Anyway, yeah she's a great character, and frankly I would love it if she made it into the show somehow. Not only because of how lovely her personality seems, but also as a thanks to you and your talent and vision. Sure it's wishful thinking, but what's wrong with that, right?

Anyway, keep up the good work.
