Well, Frost seemed to be fitting in with Blast and Eclipse... about as well as he had with her. Better, maybe: she couldn't really tell. Either way, it gave her chance to throw a pouch of bits toward the bartender.

 

"Hey, Bit! Get me a couple of bottles of Red's stuff: top shelf - none of that watered down swill!" She demanded: checking the harness she wore for exactly how the bottles were supposed to be held. She wasn't a drinker - save for exceptional circumstances - but time and time again the stuff proved to have its uses. It helped that the stuff that Red bought might as well have been made to strip paint...

"Willow? What are you...? Where did Scribbler go? You didn't wander off did you?" Orion broke off from his conversation with Mirror for a moment to motion for his sister to follow.

 

There was so much to do: between his plan, ensuring the groups safety and developing his abilities enough... He had gotten so caught up with protecting Willow before that he had neglected to simply spend time with her. It wasn't going to be easy but he was determined not to make the same mistake again.

 

"Come along with us, Mirror needs to make a quick stop, then we'll go someplace to rest and... well, do whatever you like. No more work tonight - sound good?"

Pavisa placed the last of her bits on the bar as she ordered a few mugs of ale - she knew Kingfisher had claimed it was watered down, but she didn't really care right now.  It was cheap, and she wasn't looking to get drunk.  Not yet, anyways.  She made her way to an open table with her purchase, sitting down and leaning back against the wall while staring into her mug.

 

She takes an experimental drink of the ale - it tasted about how she expected it to, given the reputation and the price.  Still, it was a step above nothing so she took another drink anyways.  She gives a small sigh before grinning slightly at Aegis.  "Let's wait for Fisher to join us.  I don't want to have to go over this twice."

Zintiik had finally managed to catch up to Orion and Mirror, though he decided to keep his distance.  He was still trying to figure out why everypony seemed upset with him, and didn't want to risk making things worse by trying to say something about it.  It's because you're a bug.

 

He saw Willow approach her brother and tried to give her a friendly smile, he didn't think she saw it though.  The changeling in the guise of the pegasus sighs and lets himself wander off a short distance, though this time he makes sure to stay close enough to keep track of the group.  He didn't want to get separated by somepony distracting him like had happened last time.

Eclipse

The new stallion seemed like a good kid. He seemed about as awkward as a young stallion comes, though. Perhaps him and the new stallion could get along much like him and Blast did. He obviously was much older than Frost. Perhaps he could teach him a thing or two from past experiences.

"I see that you've gotten familiar with the mare on the stool there. Don't mind her. She's kind of a stick in the mud. No offense, Kingfisher." He said with a small chuckle. He then looked over to Aphrodite and Blast. "What are you two standing there for? Come in, come in!" He said.

Frost Typhoon

Frost calmed himself after a second and looked beck at Eclipse now with a good, full, smile. It seemed as if everyone he had met had one thing in common....they all knew Kingfisher. He figured it must have been a tight community. It had been a while since he saw one, and to be honest with himself he was enjoying it rather well. "Yes...we talked on the way over here, well it was really chit chat followed by awkward silence." He said, chuckling through his teeth. He was rather surprised that the group had been so easily accepting of him, he liked it seeing as he was always traveling and never settled to meet anyone or make friends.

Aegis Dare

"Fair enough." Aegis said, sniffing at the ale. It didn't really tickle his fancy, but then, neither did the brandy before he drank it. With a slight shrug, he took a sip. 'This is ale-flavoured water... Probably for the best. I'm not one for getting drunk anyway.'

 

His mind began wandering...

 

"The mighty Artorias never surrendered, not once. Even at his end, he stood firm to protect his friend. He charged at the creatures of chaos, bringing his greatsword about in a mighty swing." Aegis said, acting out part of the story with a stick of celery.

 

A pony in the shadows chuckled at the author's antics. But when he spoke, his voice was familiar. "And what happened to this brave knight?"

 

"That was the last anypony had ever seen of him. A month later, a grey wolf returned to Canterlot with his sword. That sword was erected as his gravestone in a location known only to the Princesses. He was a great hero."

 

"You have a gift for telling stories, Aegis."

 

Back to the present... Aegis stared into his ale, lost in thought. 'I should tell them about it. It's all because of me...'

Icy Night
Icy wasn't one to drink. Better said that she has never drank before. She thought of ways to talk to the others, but she couldn't think of anything to talk about. She wasn't shy, but talking wasn't really her strong point.
"Can I get some water?" she asked the bartender. She finally thought of something to say.
"So who are all of you? I never did get your names" So many ponies around at once, she couldn't help but wonder what they also were doing.

 Mirror hesitated, Willow following along wasn't part of her plan. Ultimately it shouldn't change much...or anything but she felt that Orion would be much more likely to disapprove of the shop she was visiting as long as his younger sister was around. Not that she had expected him to entirely approve in the first place. "Oh I guess there was some miscommunication on my part, the shop I'm visiting is on the other side of the city. Much closer to the castle than here." 

 

Looking at Willow she spoke again, "How about I trade your brother for Scribbler? That way you two can spend some time together."

Crimson sat at a table in the corner of the bar, his hooves propped up on the table as he drank deeply from a mug of Rum, humming a merry, catchy tune. (winter wrap up, lol) Crimson had been there for awhile now and despite all his drinking, he was, to his annoyance, still sober.

"Names Kingfisher..." Announced the mare proudly, watching the bartender bring two bottles cross to her with a begrudging look - he always looked like that though. Slinging one into the harness beside her cutlass, she dropped the other into her saddlebag and smirked. "... of the Dawn Dreamer. Could say we spend a lot of time here when we're in the city."
 
Glancing over towards the pair at the bar, she frowned for a moment before clapping a hoof across Eclipses back (slightly harder than might have been necessary), forcing the grin back into place and stating "One minute, folks are gettin' impatient." before pushing her way through the small and unusually busy room. "Back in a sec."

"Aegis! You look... hey, anypony home in there?" Kingfisher waved a hoof in front between the writers face and his drink, sitting down heavily. "I'm here, I'm here... whats up?" She said, looking determinedly just past her friends at nothing in particular.

Eclipse and Blast watched as Kingfisher went into the other room. Blast took this time to walk in and greet Eclipse.

"Hello, Blast. What've you been doing this past week? Napping? 'Cause I never knew you to be the type to be doing nothing with their life."

"Don't push your luck, Eclipse." Blast grunted at Eclipse, looking up at Frost. "Hey, I know . I gave you few bits earlier, didn't I? Well, seems like our paths are crossing once again."

Frost waved after Kinhfisher as she walked away. "See you soon!" He called after her as he turned to one of the ponies Eclipse had called over earlier. He turned and was taken by surprise to see the pony who had offered him some bits at the train station not two hours ago. "Its good to see you again...here, I was bringing you this when I met Kingfisher." He said, dropping the bag of bits on the bar infront of Blast. "I only needed half...you can have the rest back." He chuckled.

"Huh? Oh, hey Fisher. Sorry about that. I was off in my own little world." Aegis said, flashing his usual grin. "Canterlot's in a bit of a panic lately. Do you suppose Noble Persona has anything to do with it? After all..."

 

Aegis couldn't finish the sentence. He didn't want to believe it was the same Noble Persona who had taken him in. The friend he'd forgotten. But nopony else would have done what Noble did. Well... maybe Orion, except he was unconscious at the time.

 

"Sorry... I've just been thinking... I know that pony who stole Orion's power, or rather... I used to know him."

Clockwork peered at the pony with reverence. He hadn't expected such a grotesque tale of death and illness. "How very unfortunate.. My condolences.. er. Mr.. I don't believe I caught your name." "This one's got quite the history it seems." "So your searches lead you here then.. Do you believe this.. creator, has made his way to Canterlot then? Perhaps we are all in danger here. Although I'm more worried about these strange weather events. My wings aren't built for such cold, they send chills up my back." He chuckled.

Scribbler dashed off after Willow, trying to stay close to her, but she'd taken off before he had realized she'd gone. He didn't want to scold, for he wasn't her keeper by rights, and he was certain she wouldn't be in the mood to hear it to begin with. "Hold up, I did promise your brother I'd stick by you, Willow." He noticed the others weren't far ahead after rounding the corner. "Ah, what a relief, I thought I'd be running after her all afternoon. She really doesn't like being around others for long it seems." He wandered over to where Orion and the others had been walking, and joined the group once again. "My apologies, Orion, I thought she was by my side there" He paused, taking a couple breaths before going on. "I still have some business to attend to, is anypony else in need of shopping around at the moment? He glanced around looking for any takers.

Perhaps I could be of some assistance myself." "Perhaps I could learn a thing or two from this one, might be useful to know a bit more in the medical field. And I've been looking for a reason to leave this city anyways.. Why not?"

Clockwork nodded in agreement. He was enjoying the idea of doing work outside the city. Adventure perhaps? He was tired of wandering aimlessly in search of buyers, they were precious few in this place for what he built and designed. "I would very much like that. I've been wanting to expand my work outside these walls for some time. Perhaps this is my chance." He smiled. "Shall we?" With that he awaited for Icarus to lead the way. He had no idea where to begin as of now.

Pavisa smiles slightly at Kingfisher before staring back into her mug.  "Thanks, this won't take long.  I just wanted to get it out in the open before it has a chance to bite me in the flank."

 

How should I start?  Ah, buck it...  Just get it out in the open.  She takes another drink of the watered down ale before she starts to speak.  "I went in earlier to report to my CO.  I'd thought maybe I could convince him to assign some more help to recovering the Litany, or to at least allocate some gear we could use...  Bad news on that front, by the way."

 

Pavisa sighs as she continues, staring at the contents of her mug.  "Instead, I was ordered to report back to the barracks and sign up for patrol duty...  I've been ordered off of the Litany mission.  In fact, it was a strict order not to further pursue this 'wild goose chase', as he put it..."

 

The mare raises her gaze to her friends, hesitating for a minute to see their reactions.  After sitting there for a moment to see how they would react, she smiles slightly.  "...So I quit.  I'm no longer a member of the Canterlot Guard."

"Well, I--" Willow began for her brother until Scribbler appeared at her side. "Um, yes. I was.. well, wandering off again. Sorry, Orion." Willow stared at the ground sheepishly. She looked up at Orion again but noticed that Mirror was talking to her. "For.. Scribbler? Okay, I guess that would work." Willow made a 'I'm keeping my eye on you' gesture to Mirror, then yanked her brother aside. She was already in a bad mood from seeing Zintiik again.. and whenever she saw him, she saw that mare he was talking to. She noticed that Zintiik was missing, though.. 

 

"Where's Zintiik?"

"I'll, uh.. I'll be in the hotel room. I'd rather not be surrounded by idiots."

 

Aphrodite trotted back to the room with her cheeks burning. She was already bad enough at being convincing.. she really didn't want to be embarrassed by saying that she wasn't the same Aphrodite.

Pavisa was right. It certainly was something to think about. Aegis sat in stunned silence for a moment, unsure of what to say. Instead, he quietly drank his ale, trying to think of a response.

 

"It's great that you're standing up for yourself," Aegis said, putting more energy into his response than he should. "If Noble gets his hooves on the Litany, Equestria's finished. I bet your CO would have a lot of egg on his face when fate proves you right."

"Scribbler, I would love to have some company, there's a shop I've been meaning to visit. Although we can get what you need first."

She what? Kingfishers expression lit up.

 

"You left the guard? That's..."

 

And then, her face fell again. This was her friend that she was talking about - her friend who had not just walked out of her job to help them, but had given up something she was proud of...

 

"... really terrible..." She finished her sentence weakly - feeling like she might be the single most selfish pony in Equestria. She waited a moment - thinking about her response before opening her stupid mouth again this time. "Aegis is right: we'll show them. Save Equestria, become heroes... No big deal for us, right? We've done it once already!" She allowed herself to smirk slightly. "Ten Bits says this time time week, we'll be in a bar laughing about all this - maybe even one with windows..."

 

She hadn't missed what Aegis had said: it sounded important - potentially too important to wait but... she was having difficulty prioritising. Strange... normally that was Red's problem and she was the one to keep things on track.

Blast took the bag of bits back from the stallion and put them in his pony pockets (Bit of a reference there. :3) He smiled at the stallion. 

"It seems like you pretty much just talked things over with Fisher." Blast said. "Did she talk to you about our little escapade we had last week?"

He picked up the Illusion bomb he had bought, and put it in his left saddle bag, were it would be safe and easy to get to.

"No she didn't.....we just talked about...the town..." he hesitated, remembering Fishers warning. "....what is this escapade huh? Something adventurous to the core?" he said in a joking tone.
