Blast looked over to Frost and smiled back. He was happy to see the stallion deciding to come along with the group on their next escapade.

"No problem, Frost. I hope you have a good time with us. Nothing like a good adventure." He said, kicking back in his chair.

 

Eclipse only sighed at Clockwork Green.

"You didn't need it. If you're suffering a hangover, drinking alcohol is the last thing you need to do." Eclipse said, sitting down in the back seat of the train cart. "Just sit down and take a load off. You'll have time to recover before our stop."

Clockwork glanced up to see the others had arrived, and were now filing into the train. He stood up, groping around his bag for the ticket. Pulling it out finally, he stumbled over to the train, and handed his ticket to the conductor, who seemed slightly put off by the smell of wine on his breath. Clockwork made his way into the train car, and located Icarus, sitting down next to the doctor. "Thank goodness.. you wouldn't have a cure for a headache would you? I'm dying here."

"I do have some painkillers if you wouldn't mind me using medicine. That or I can do it without medicine. Just depends on witch you prefer." Icarus said.

 

Ahh the classic headache, hopefully he's alright with medicine, but if not, then I know a few ways to relieve pain on the head without it.

Midnight Sky

 

Midnight had remained mostly quiet so far, deciding to figure out what he could learn about these new apparent companions of theirs without talking to them directly since he really wasn't in the mood thanks to this weather. Thankfully he had gotten tickets for Sunshine and himself the night before, and so got right on the train. Of the ponies he didn't recognize, Midnight Sky was most curious about the one with the mask. The one with the wings was clearly an inventor, and the other pony didn't seem all too significant to Midnight at the moment, but this masked unicorn was a mystery. "Well, looks like we get to save Equestria once again. But this time we get to start from my least favorite part of Equestria, the north. Just my luck." Midnight said to no pony in particular as he took a seat on the train. At least his armor was Neighland made so the cold wouldn't bother him, but  he wondered how some of the others will do once they get up there. The actual city may be temperate, but the surrounding area is a frozen wasteland that he and his sister were all too familiar with.

"I didn't.."

 

Willow frowned. She completely forgot about packing. She was just going to have to buy some more supplies. "I think we'll be fine. Midnight Scribbler might've brought some. Maybe Zintiik did too.." Willow frowned. She knew that they were capable of surviving. It's not going to be that bad, they could conserve heat..? She patted about her mane again to find the Aspect still sitting there. There was a silence until there was a knocking on the door. "Could you get that?"

 

Aphrodite

 

Trotting aboard the train that the rest of the group was supposed to board after giving the conductor her ticket, she was a little lost. Where was everypony? She was sure she got the time right for the train.. she couldn't.. she can't be on the wrong train. She soon spotted Blast and sighed in relief. She sat in the seat next to him. "I hope we'll be getting wherever we're going soon enough. I just need to sleep. Hey.. where's that guy? You know, the captain?"

Clockwork glared once again at Eclipse with narrowed eyes. Through his headache was a murderous anger building. "This one's going to get it before the end, I can already tell. Who the hell does he think he is?" He thought before remarking in a cold tone. "I'll be the judge of what I do and do not need, thank you very much." He snorted, then looked to the doctor. "Forgive me.. I'll take a pill if you don't mind parting with one. How much?" He asked, knowing medication wasn't free. He rubbed his forehead with his hoof, trying to massage the pain out somehow, as futile as it was.

Scribbler pondered her words, and looked to her with honesty, before returning his gaze to the view again. "Then you understand where I stood, it was a very difficult moment. Knowing I might not stand a snowball's chance in hell at destroying it.. yet.. Knowing I needed to find a way to keep Noble from obtaining the book... Mirror.. What I saw in there.. Noble cannot get the book or we will all be in peril. This is why I must stick with the mission.. I can't go home, knowing this power yet threatens us." He looked to Mirror again. "No matter what happens out there.. I want you to know, I've got your back as long as you have mine. We're going to need all the friends we can get in this fight." They wandered out from the winding pathway into the streets below. It was only a couple blocks from here before they reached the hotel.

Mirror was thankful to be past the gardens, even now she didn't care much for them. While they looked nice, they stills seems to make her uncomfortable. "What so you think our next move will be?"

"It's okay... Ii'm sure we'll be fine." Orion reassured her, looking towards the door in question. "Sure..." Nodded the ex-alicorn, groaning slightly from tiredness as he found his balance and wandered over to the door in question, stifling a yawn as he went.

 

It could be Scribbler and Mirror, but they knew well enough to just let themselves in.

 

"Hello?" He said warily as he cracked it open, peering out to see who might be bothering them at this time if night...

 Icarus reached into his bag and pulled out a small container, witch he opened to reveal a good amount of pills. And handed over to Clockwork.

 

"Only take what you need, I have plenty of them, so no need to pay" He said in his usual tone.

 

I guess I'm going to be the groups only medical assistance, aren't I.

Eclipse turned back to Clockwork Green, becoming a bit annoyed by him.

"Look at yourself, Clockwork." Eclipse said to him. "You have a headache AND a hangover. It's probably best that you just let the doctor treat it, that way it won't get worse."

 

Blast was happy to see Aphrodite finally make it. When she sat down, he heard her say a few things about the captain. Did she mean Redwave?

"If you're talking about Red Wave, I think he's sitting this one out." Blast said, continuing to lean back into his seat. "He's dealing with, um, issues, I guess."

“For Celestia’s sake, Eclipse, just drop it. Let him deal with it his way.” Aegis said. True, Clockwork was unsettling, but there was no reason not to be friendly to him. Aegis tried his best not to seem suspicious of Clockwork or Icarus, but it was admittedly difficult, especially after realizing that a friend has suddenly become an enemy. He turned to the two of them. “Sorry about him. He's not exactly the social type. And I’d like to apologize for being suspicious of you two last night. I had a lot to think about at the time.”

Didn't he say he was a writer? I wonder what he has written.

 

"You said you were a writer, correct?" Icarus asked " If I may ask, what novels have you written?" Icarus finished, with a somewhat curious tone, and while doing so, kept some attention on Clockwork to make sure he didn't OD himself or something.

Kingfisher.

 

Kingfisher climbed aboard: choosing a seat that was suitably close to intervene with the bickering ponies if need be, but far enough away that they wouldn't end up giving her a headache. She rolled her eyes, looking away so that she wouldn't be seen.

 

'Just when I thought they might actually be competent, one day in Canterlot turns them into squabbling foals...'

 

She looked through the window at the chaotic excuse for 'weather' outside and closed her eyes for a moment - whatever it was that Bardic wanted, she had the feeling that it would be somehow related.

Eclipse heard what Aegis said, but instead of responding to him, he simply sank in his chair and remained silent. He wasn't about to apologize for trying to be good. Whenever he tried being good, it always led him into situations like this. What good would it do for him to apologize. If anything, HE should apologize to HIM first. What would it make him if he tried to do it first? A suck-up? Not in a thousand years!

An answer instantly came to mind. “The Abyss Chronicles, a trilogy of historical fiction novels based on the struggles of the real Knight Artorias. Valkyrie Soul, a dark fiction book inspired by Discord’s reign with chaos magic and lots of surreal stuff. And Dreaming of Wings, a romance novel that nopony remembers because they’re too busy giving me hell because a certain character that everypony loves dies at the end of Valkyrie Soul.”

 

Aegis sighed and continued. “He wasn’t even an important character. He was literally meant to die right at the point he did. Anyway, I don’t want to bore you with long rants and out of context spoilers. What about yourself, Doctor?”

 

‘That’s a pretty good way to establish common ground. This guy is a smart one. Best keep an eye on him just to be safe.’

As she boarded the train, Pavisa glances around at the places to sit before choosing a seat near Kingfisher.  She takes her helmet off again as she sits down, setting it on the seat next to her before grinning at the other mare and nodding towards their group.

 

"Fun bunch, huh?  10 bits we'll have a fight on our hooves before the train reaches the Crystal Empire?"  She snickers and grins at Kingfisher, trying to rearrange her gear so she can sit comfortably.  "Damn halberd...  I like it as a weapon, but this bloody thing gets in the way a lot..."

 

 

Zintiik

 

Zintiik lands near the hotel, on the roof of one of the neighboring buildings.  He glances around, stopping when he sees Mirror and Scribbler approaching the hotel.  I should let them go in first...  Might be a little suspicious if everypony shows up at the same time.  The changeling was nothing if not cautious, and so he sits down to give them time to get into the building and get settled.  He can't help but grin to himself at the emotions he can pick up from the two ponies, tilting his head as he watches them.

" As you know, I am a master doctor, meaning I have knowledge on most major medical fields. But, I specialize in immediate treatment and care. I also find myself delving into chemistry as well, using chemicals to aid me in operations and such" Icarus explained.

 

Hmm, never heard of any of those books, perhaps I could give them a try later.

Aegis nodded. “That’ll come in handy, I bet. Anything else? Not the resume, but you. Things you like, things you hate, that sort of thing. Since we’re travelling together, we may as well get to know each other better, right?”

 

Aegis hoped he was sounding friendly and not like a guard waiting to begin the proper interrogation. Then again, if he needed somepony to play ‘bad guard’, he could just get Eclipse to do it.

Eclipse grunted at Aegis. He was conversing with the doctor while he was working? For all he knew, the doctor could make a wrong move by giving Clockwork the wrong medication. He then heard him talking about his books. Eclipse then opened up his saddlebags.

"Hey, author!" He called out to him, levitating one of his novels, Dreaming of Wings. "At least one pony owns it. It's actually one of my favorite novels. Makes me want to uncover my past even more, though."

Crimson quickly got his ticket, and trotted onto the train without saying a single word to anyone. Once he entered they're booth, he simply sat in an empty seat and pulled out his flask of rum, taking occasional swigs from it as he stared quietly out the window, looking much more distant, rugged, and tired than usual.

White Eclipse lowered his head a little bit more.
"That was actually my favorite part. In that part, I actually saw... me." Eclipse said, sounding more saddened just to say it aloud. "Not remembering anything is my life story right now. It's just an endless hunt, going from place to place just to find the answers... but, every time the hero comes close, it's always just out of reach..."

If Noble could remember that they were friends, maybe Aegis could resolve the situation peacefully and without violence. “And I kind of need to tell you guys something. All of this that’s happening… It’s my fault. I told Noble a story about Artorias since he seemed bored, but I didn't know that he'd go and do this. If I hadn't done that, maybe he wouldn't have stolen Orion's power.”
