"Be careful with her, she's one of a kind", Denarius told the one, he believed was called Tactic.

Coming closer to the fire, he draped his cloak over a segment of the stone floor, and soon dropped a small pouch which rattled as it hit the floor. Denarius had marked his place upon the ground, and soon fell into a relaxed state. Suddenly, he swivelled his head sharply as a shrill scream came from the entrance. His body jolted upwards, the mare from earlier came back with a petrified look about her face.

The scream had surprised him, yet still trying to keep a collected demeanour. Denarius looked at the mare and said, "Do you realise your friend is still out there? Even if you wished to close off the cave, you would be sentencing that individual to probable death. I would like to see him return as I still need to thank that individual for calming your brother down over there".

An idea began to ruminate within his head. Denarius pointed his hoof towards Orion. "Watch your sister, somepony is going to need to stand lookout for him. I elect myself as if I get killed you won't likely mind", he claimed with a slight snarl at the end of his voice.

This was a bad idea. His luck wouldn't protect himself for too long, yet the benefits on his end could be greater than the risk. He put on his cloak, and tossed his pouch towards Tactic. "Catch, and take good care of it. I'm going to need it back when I'm done", stating with a blank face. He turned around, and began his ascent towards the entrance.

Zintiik

@@Nomadic,

@,

@,

Zintiik held Willows hoof with one hoof, catching the stranger's pouch with the other.  As the other pony started making his way towards the entrance, Zintiik spares a glance at Orion before promptly dumping the contents of the pouch onto the ground, looking through what the newcomer had.  It seemed to just be money and some dice...

"Awww," he mutters with a bit of disappointment.  His voice slips back to his usual buzzing sound as he does, holding the pouch up to his eye as though to see if there was anything stuck in it.  "I was hoping there'd at least be something I could use in there..."  Zintiik had really been hoping there might have been a picture in it.  The changeling had found that using a picture to change into somepony that someone knew was a great way to catch them off guard.

He drops the pouch on the ground next to its contents, picking up one of the dice out of curiosity.  He bounces it on his hoof before glancing at Willow and Orion, tilting his head slightly.  "Dice and bits...  Guessing he's a gambler?"

Pavisa

Pavisa used an armored foreleg to shield her face as the storm began to pick up, wincing as the cold swept around her.  "Come on, let's move!" she yelled to nopony in particular.  It looked as though the group was, for the most part, starting to run after Midnight.  She takes up a place near the back of the group, trying to tally and make sure everypony was there.

The scene of Redwave shoving her out of the way of Orion's petrification spell suddenly flashed through her head.  Not one of her prouder moments, and the memory makes her grit her teeth as she looks over the group.  The ex-guard wasn't about to let something like that happen again, she had to make sure they all made it to safety...  She didn't want anypony being lost because of her again.

They were leaving. That wasn't supposed to happen.

The last group had gotten further of course, but they had quickly succumbed to the lifeless wastes. These seemed better prepared, if nothing else. They couldn't be allowed to leave.

A second carriage of the wrecked train burst into molten nothingness under the impact of a second bolt - the smell of burning fur mingled with the acrid fumes of the metal, but the effect it had on the life-energy in the area... it couldn't have been one of these - a pony already about to pass at most... or one particularly old or young. Not one of these.

Howling with mild frustration, the hail turned - razor edged shards of ice sweeping in from the direction they were trying to go. From behind, another bolt of vile lightning crashed down close enough behind them to cause shockwaves to shudder through the ground beneath their hooves.

Close... but not enough.

---------------

Kingfisher.

"Inside! We need to... get under... something!"

Finding her pace and balance as the shock faded and her vision cleared again, the mare lumbered forward as best she could as the sounds around her increased in volume - muffled by the weather.

The shards of ice lashed her face and body - causing her to squint and turn her head aside as thin red lines started to form across her coat.

"It doesn't mater where, just get under some kind of cover!"

---------------

Orion Starsinger.

The stranger had appeared, appealed for shelter and then left again. Orion didn't understand his reasoning... but if he wanted to walk out into the blizzard to find Mirror and Scribbler then so be it - it meant that the ex-alicorn didn't need to take his sister out into the cold, or leave her behind in this cave.

Given the circumstances, this was the best solution.

He started to pace the dimly lit cavern: closing his eyes at intervals to create more tiny orbs of light which hung in the air like stars - slowly napping out the cave. It was roomy enough for them to remain comfortable without risking what precious warmth they had - all in all it was the best they could have hoped for.

The ice shards began scrapping against Eclipse's skin, causing him to start bleeding out in almost all spots. He quickly made a weak magic shield in front of himself and Blast. Again, it was weak. If they didn't find cover soon, it'd break from the intensity of the shards.

"We need to find some kind of cavern!" Eclipse yelled out to the rest of the group over the storm. "It's the only shelter we can possibly find out here!"

Clockwork Green

@,

@@Commander Tangent,

Clockwork yelled after Eclipse and Icarus "Wait, come back! You'll be better off in here with him. There's still heat from the boiler!" He turned around, spinning the wheel on the boiler's furnace door, and opened it. The coals were still hot, and radiated heat out which was nearly unbearable standing right in front of it. "The beauty of a steam engine is that the coals don't just stop putting out if the car tips. This should keep us warm for some time until we can find a better place to be." He winced as his gash shot pain up his leg, the blood was pouring out still. He trotted off to find Icarus in the next car over. He left the door open to allow the heat to flow in from the engine. "Icarus, I have a plan.. but I'll need your help." He dropped his bag on the floor in front of him, reaching into it, he pulled out a little cone shaped device, and a cable. He plugged them together, and then attached it to his battery pack. "If you have any healing spells, you can project them through this device, and store that energy in a charge cell within my battery. It contains six cells, each is powered with non focused energy at the moment. If we empty one or two, and charge it with a healing aura, I can help mend some of the group while you patch the more badly wounded. If we get this to work, it'll speed things up immensely. I don't want to be out here any longer than I have to be, something's out there in the storm." He looked urgently to Icarus.

Midnight Scribbler

@@Nomadic,

Scribbler was surprised by Orion suddenly turning around and ditching after Willow. He hadn't even noticed the mare leave at first until Orion reacted. He turned his head, seeing Mirror next to him offering her blanket. He smiled, lowering his shield and accepted it graciously, tying it around his neck. He hugged Mirror out of pure thankfulness. "Thank you, this cold was really getting to me.. Let's get moving, we don't want to get caught out here any longer." He turned and trotted off after Denarius, who seemed to have followed Orion, making sure Mirror wasn't far behind. "I don't use my ignition spell often, but now would be a very good occasion."

(OOC: Posting from Phone. Getting a post out before work. Hopefully it isn't too terrible.)

"You're welcome....hopefully it's enough..." Mirror said as she continued to follow Scribbler. It was difficult to see past the snow but it looked like the cave was close and that somepony had started a fire inside. Speeding up her gait, Mirror neared the entrance as something knocked her to the left, causing her to stumble. She looked back, a piece of hail, larger than her hoof, sat where she had been moments ago. It had hit her right shoulder, hopefully not causing to much harm. A few more pieces of hail began to fall around her. Somepony, a mare, screamed ahead of her, probably Willow. Mirror scrambled to get to the cave, the fear of being pummeled to death forced her to ignore her injured foreleg. A few hailstones hit her before she got to the entrance, thankfully none were as large as the first one. Ignoring the shoulder, she only had a few bruises. She looked behind her for any sign of Scribbler.

"Come inside, you kill yourself if you stay out there any longer", he shouted at the mare in a guttural tone, that was clearly unbecoming of him.

Denarius advanced outside to help the mare. This was not who he sought, yet her gratitude could easily come in handy later on. Suddenly, a piece of hail whizzed past him. It sheared through the back of his cloak, and nicked his hind leg.  A jolt of pain seared up inside him, but the unrelenting cold quickly numbed the pain. It seemed that chance had decided to be fickle within him today, still it could of easily been worse.

Approaching the mare, Denarius felt uncomfortable. Hail sped past him, yet a few pieces still hit the mare. Pavisa

The mare picked herself back up from the ground as the aftershocks faded, squinting in the storm.  The blizzard was getting worse...  They had to get out of the weather, and had to get out now!

Glancing ahead, she could see the vague outlines of what she took to be a rocky outcropping.  That seemed to be where Midnight was leading them, and it had to be better than being out here.  Sparing a brief glance back at the...  Thing...  On the tracks, she moves to catch up to the others.

Pavisa was freezing, but the adrenaline pumping through her was keeping her going for now.  And her armour was managing to protect her from the worst of the ice shards, although she could barely hear over the barrage of ice crashing against her helmet.

As she catches up to Kingfisher, Pavisa tries to position herself between the other mare and the wind.  Holding up an armored foreleg to try and shield her friend from the barrage of sharp ice, she shouts and gestures towards the rocky outcropping.  "There...  I think that's where we're going!"

@,
Icy stared at the thing and back to the group. She hoped to draw its attention, but it seemed she made the weather more difficult for those she was trying to help. she could feel the sharp hail around her, but she didn't think about it too much. She accepted the ice on her body forming a line of ice over her fur, so any ice shards that hit her would only be hitting the ice on her fur.
"Sorry" she said to herself. -it seems like the weather isn't hurting it or at least not from what I can see- her horn starting glowing and small shard of ice around her began to gather together, to form a lance of ice.
"So how about a direct attack than" she launched the lance at the thing. and turned to face the group. she couldn't control all the ice in this place, but she could at least try to stem the flow of the ice away from them.

Midnight Sky

"Just a little further everypony! We'll be able to take cover under that outcropping of rocks, there's a cave that will fit all of us!" Midnight called back at the others as they followed him. Thankfully his armor was protecting him from the shards of ice that flew through the air, and he had to admit that that new pony was doing a good job at at least trying to distract the creature, though her ice attacks didn't seem to be having much effect. And that was another thing, she used ice magic, even if it wasn't near as strong as Frozen Stars's ice magic it still brought back some bitter memories for Midnight. He'd have to be sure t talk to her later, she didn't seem all that bad but he had to be sure. One can never be too careful with ponies who use ice magic.

Midnight came to a sliding stop as he arrived at the entrance to the cave. "All right, everypony down the hole, but don't go too far. I have no idea how far this cave goes. I'll stay out here and cover you all." Midnight called to the others as they continued coming. This was the second time he has stayed behind to buy time for these ponies, at this rate he should think about making a career out of this. Jokes aside, Midnight knew this time was going to be a bit trickier. Last time he had done this they had been in a forest, his territory, but this was a snowy wasteland with only a few scattered boulders, not much to work off of given his magic. Good thing he planned for scenarios like this, after all, he and Sunshine crossed terrain far more barren than this on their journey away from Neighland. Time to put those plans and ideas to the test.

Eclipse grabbed the doctor, Pavisa, and Kingfisher and put them behind his shield.

"Stay behind us! That structure is just beyond the horizon!" Eclipse shouted to them, continuing to hold his ground against the raging storm. The storm was beginning to crack the shield, but Eclipse put all of his strength into the magic barrier. The cave structure was just up ahead, and he felt like he could push through... until the icicles made a giant hole in the shield. The shards came down, and one implanted right into Blast's foreleg, penetrating through the bone.

All Blast could do was yell in pure agony.

Willow watched the stranger march off into the cold. She looked to Zintiik and noticed that he didn't seem the slightest bit concerned that she was almost killed by hail. She slowly let go of the changeling's hoof and sighed. It didn't seem like Orion was catching on with her attempt at peace. In fact, Orion seems to want the stranger to go away even more. This was too much for Willow to ponder about: it didn't seem like there was much of a solution to this, so she slept nearby him. She hoped the next day, there won't be any snow and they'd be safe.

The weather lulled - if only for the briefest of moments - with the second attack. It might not have caused harm but the sheer persistence of these creatures was almost unrivalled in the pitiful history of their race...

The great eyes blinked slowly - the last train had only had one that had struggled - not a whole herd... We're these a threat, however small? Doubtful. Other races had seemed so, but they always fell at the final hurdle - they were always to idealistic, and by trying to do so...

As the sound if the wind fell, Kingfisher looked up from behind her armoured... escort. The dark opening that aegis had mentioned was just up ahead - Blast had seen better days and the whole group had taken their fair share of cuts and bruises: but they were alive.

Thanks to Pavisa, she had suffered nothing more than surface injuries. A thin trickle of blood ran down the right side of her face from where, unbeknown to her, the very tip if her ear was missing, and she was lined with small, red cuts that most of which were thankfully not quite deep enough to bleed properly.

"Go! Quickly!" She shouted over the dulled howling of the wind. "While we still can! Get inside!"

The cold was starting to effect her - in her weakened state it felt like it was climbing - rising through her legs from her hooves from the snow... she reassured herself that they were still moving, save the stubborn one. Twisted or sprained or something - but not frostbite. By the sisters that would have been bad.

Aegis Dare

@

"Good. You guys made it." Aegis said. His thoughts were getting fuzzy as the adrenaline wore off and he began to feel tired, sore and heavy. He sat and leaned against the wall. But there was still one thing he had to do before he passed out. "Pavi, could I talk to you in private? It's important."

Noble Persona

Laughter. That sad, horrible laughter rang through the hideout. Noble sat on the floor surrounded by broken wooden swords and smashed dolls. He'd cast a spell to re-create Canterlot as it was today in fine detail. His first mistake. He'd created more practice dummies to serve as his rebels and the Royal Guard, then he declared war. The battle began horribly. The guards were better trained, better equipped, and managed to reduce his army to half strength far too quickly. Noble led an attack on the armoury in hopes of gaining better equipment, but lost more ponies in the attack. Finally, he barely managed to attack the castle, but was forced to retreat once the numbers became too great, as he was reluctant to rely on magic.

His retreat was cut off, and he was being overwhelmed. He didn't see another way out. Despite the risks, the only way he could prevent his death was to use the Litany. He spread his wings, violet flames surrounding him, and fired a pulse knocking the 'Guards' away. He pushed on the offensive, sword flashing as he cut down Guard after Guard and fired concussive spells powerful enough to crack skulls. Then, when the streets in front of the castle were stained in blood and littered with broken weapons and bodies, the illusion ended and his flames died. Everything faded, but Noble had suffered a defeat, albeit in a practice session. Yet, he had also learned something. That if he were to create a rebellion, he would first need to build an army and train them to fight. But to do that, he'd need ponies skilled in their craft. Inventors, warriors and strategists. Canterlot was ripe with ponies of all walks, and all Noble needed to do was to give them a reason.

Pavisa

@@Windbreaker,

Pavisa blinks and glances back at the cave entrance - whatever that thing was, it was still out there...  But she turns and trots over to Aegis.  He'd said it was important, whatever it was...

"What's up?" the ex-guard asks as she walks over next to him.  "Is everything okay?  Sheesh, you look like you're about to pass out...  I think the doctor's going to be busy with Blast for a while, but I can try and get somepony else with medical experience if you're hurt..."
