Just need a little advice

Twilight Yagami

So I was reading a webcomic on ms paint adventures when I had an idea for a fan fic that may be produced in a similar format.  I know that I don't want to copy Hussie's story telling style exactly but I am wanting to do something like what he did for his paint adventures.  I am wondering if there were a way that I could...incorporate it somehow without completely ripping it off.

Do any of you guys think it would be possible to make such an idea work without coming off as a ripoff?

People will probably put you down for using a similar format, but that is unimportant and you should politely ignore them.  What matters most is that you are not ripping off his story.  If it has nothing to do with him and his story, you're fine.  There have been others who have done a similar format of storytelling, he is simply the most well known.  Have at it!

As long as you are true to your style, the format is the least important thing. You mentioned Andrew Hussey, so i suppose you are trying to do something with the format of Homestuck. I encourage you to do so.

You would not be the first person to do something on a similar format, and for what i know, the same format can give a hell of different results. Take for example http://www.prequeladventure.com/ . It uses the same format, but it is completely unrelated. IT features the world from elder scrolls and a drawing style that quickly separates from hussey's style.
