The definitive reason I vote for Fluttershy vs Twilight Sparkle.

 

It's not because she's cutest pony.

 

Its because her character resonates so much in me.

 

If you have ever been used, abused, trampled on, or treated like a doormat, then you'll understand where I'm coming from. I've had my altruistic nature bent against me and my judgement skewed by emotion. I know what it's like to be backed into a corner, intimidated, talked down to, and have one's self worth shattered into a million pieces.

 

I know what Fluttershy feels.

 

I know that feel.

 

There is a quote in the movie "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."

 

 

 

Men become monsters when they can't handle the pain of being a man.

 

 

I know this feel.

 

I hid behind another man to avoid my family's judgment. I could not handle or deal with conflict of any kind. The ugliest of resentments brewed in me because I couldn't face the consequences of my decisions. I thought that by avoiding the conflict, I was taking the high road, but on the inside I was taking the low road, and my anger formed into something hideous.

 

Much has happened to me, I'm not the worm that I was, and thankfully I never acted on any of my crazier thoughts in a desperate attempt to escape my problems.

 

But I've become jaded.

 

Fluttershy, however, was able to figure out how to deal with conflict (she's still working on it) and remain true to her mothering nature.

 

I try to aspire to that ideal that Fluttershy symbolizes to me.

 

That is why I vote for Fluttershy.
