Anything M rated. I'm disgusted in anything that's as violent and awful as those.

The Mass Effect series, Bioshock, Spec ops the Line, and Metro 2033 to name a few. Violent, but some of the most thought provoking games I've ever played. Do you really think that the world is better off without them?

Anyway, Silent Hill because it has gone to shit since it moves to Americas hands and Mario, I'm just so done with that plumber.

I have a thing about it. Please. It's just my opinion. :) They're not going anywhere.

Not everything rated M is necessarily gory or awful, there's a lot of games that are pretty thought-provoking and/or emotional as well. I mean, I teared up a LOT during the new Tomb Raider, despite there being a bit of a gap between Lara's actions and the game content. :-p And Bioshock is incredibly set and has a really cool storyline.

Obviously there are games out there that give that rating a bad name, but that's not really a reason to get rid of all them.

There's more but I am lazy.

I'm a sensitive person. It doesn't really matter to me how good they are. M just isn't my thing. I cringe at almost anything in an M rated game. Even if it's straight up fear. I can tolerate that a bit more, though. Regardless, I wasn't being too serious when I posted. I responded to this thread more for fun rather than actually meaning it. I'll never touch an M rated game, and have never been given one. As long as that stays true I'm perfectly fine with them being around. I won't take away what other people enjoy, but I don't want it near me, more like. Edited by FeIix

Here are the series and genres that I think need to be put to bed:

- GTA (curse words every 3 seconds is only funny for so long)

- Assassin's Creed (unless they plan to go to medieval Japan)

- Harvest Moon (same poorly-written, buggy game every time)

- Zombie games in general

And, my vote for the CHARACTER that needs to be laid to rest once and for all goes to Spyro the Dragon.  He was awesome in his first few games, but he also has his name on one of the worst games of all time (Spyro: Enter the Dragon, which got a rare 2.9 out of 10 from Gamespot and was described as an "unplayable train wreck of a game").  The fact that he's merely a generic playable character in Skylanders just makes me think he's that much more marginalized.  Just let him die with what little dignity he has left, okay?

Mario, Mario, maybe also Mario. Almost forgot Mario

Oh wait, there's also Mario

Seriously, there is only a few Mario games that are good: Sunshine and Paper, but the new one sux.

I never liked this character, but now it seriously piss me off. I see his horrible design everywhere, it's annoying, I don't even know why it still exists.

I'd also like a good Pokemon spinoff. It seems they ruin them all recently, starting with my favorite series, Mystery Dungeon.

Not all M-Rated games are blood-baths. Devil May Cry(the first four), Skyrim, Oblivion(it got re-branded mature after a little modding incident). and pretty much any story-driven game that only got the rating for intense adult themes in the plot.

Emulators solve this problem.

I'd say it's time to put Resident Evil to bed.

I'd disagree, if they went back to the style of RE5 we'd be sitting pretty with that franchise(even 6 wasn't horrible and gave me some enjoyment)

I want to see the entire idea of a video game "franchise" go away for good. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with making a stand-alone video game. Perhaps in a few exceptional cases, a sequel or two should be granted but this constant expectation of a sequel is making people greedy and lacking in gratitude.

Sometimes when a game is really good, you want more and want to keep seeing come back around. Metal Gear Solid is a good example(that I really like the themes behind it and the points is makes)

I'm going to have to see COD. It's not that they're completely horrible as much as damaging to the industry. They've become like a virus that infects everything and spreads right and left. So many COD clones(bonus points if a game that started completely different is over-hauled in it's sequels to appeal to COD fans)

If they at least hang on to Ace Attorney or give it to Level 5, only then is this acceptable.

lol I was actually thinking of saying "with the exception of Ace Attorney", but then I remembered that they still haven't localized AAI2, and that Dual Destinies and Prof. Layton Vs Ace Attorney were localized out of sheer luck(and even then Level 5 localized that one). But yes Level 5 would be perfect for the series

Command and Conquer. EA is really good at ruining beautiful games.

ugh, don't remind me(RIP Medal of Honor)

GTA, I've played many hours of all the games, but they are kind of boring, and I would not be heartbroken if we don't see GTA 6

When I played Grand Theft Auto IV, I thought to myself "this is perfect. this is a masterwork. they don't need to make any more Grand Theft Auto games. They've taken the series as far as it can go." And I still stand by that opinion today, almost 6 years later. Grand Theft Auto V was wholly unnecessary other than to keep the money rolling in for Rockstar.

The Dynasty Warriors, if you thought Call of Duty was repetition at its worst, then you obviously haven't played Dynasty Warriors yet

Amen. And this is coming from someone who puts Dynasty Warriors 3 in his Top 10 video games of all time. Dynasty Warriors suffers this problem moreso than other series because it's based on real historical events. Hence every Dynasty Warriors game has a Yellow Turban Rebellion, a Hu Lao Gate with Lu Bu, etc. etc. making it impossible to keep fresh. Dynasty Warriors 4 should have been the last, back in 2003.

Not all M-Rated games are extremely violent. Take Heavy Rain for example. It has an amazing story in it (well, at least, I think so), and the majority of the game is bloodless, with the exception of a few scenes (which still, aren't that bloody; they stay in the PG-13 level of violence.)

aye, I loved DW3 too. I actually found DW4 to be a huge letdown, and while DW5 was a little better, it was getting annoying to see you start off fighting Yellow Turbans again

I haven't gotten around to it yet(though the first thing I did when I got a PS3 for Christmas was to grab the director's cut) but I have a sneaking suspicion part of it's rating is coming from the ESRB being A LOT harder on nudity and sexual content than the MPAA is. The same brief boobs that get a movie a PG-13 can get a game an M.

I'm curious now, do you have Hemophobia? That could actually explain a lot because I know someone who has it and even cutting her leg shaving is enough to make her pass out because even the small about of blood from a simple nick and can trigger that phobia in some people.

Personally I think I have a touch of it, but it doesn't bother me due to actually enjoying creepy things.

I know I'm getting to get a lot of hate for this, but Call of Duty is something I never want to see again. It's fun the thing is it's not the same even with the innovation that the companies say to keep their fanbase.

Like the series transitioned from good campaigns and gameplay, to robots and aliens. You know you're not good at making video games when you're adding things in your games that make no sense.

Nah, it's not that bad. I do get a little shaky seeing my own blood from cuts and such but I don't pass out.

You may have a mild phobia then.

My only major phobia is spiders, which results in me slamming the nearing heavy object into the wall.

Oh, I can relate with you there. Spiders are my worst phobia. When I see one I move majorly slow but I find something and smash a million holes in it.

I could go my entire life without another CoD, final fantasy, or tycoon anything. Never was a big fan of them and anything with that many games that similar are just out to get money; not please the fans anymore.

Kingdom Hearts - I liked the first game, but now the games are just getting stupid. Like, really stupid.

Final Fantasy - 10 was the only one I liked. Square is just getting really idiotic with the series now.

Call of Duty - Innovation is an alien concept to the developers. That and their fanbase are the largest idiots on the planet.

Mario - The Galaxy games were the last moment where I liked Mario. Nintendo went backwards after those games in hopes that the past can keep Mario afloat.

I'm honestly really surprised at how many people keep saying the Mario franchise needs to end. Am I the only one here who actually enjoys each iteration of the Mario games? Yes, they're heavily standardized, but almost every level provides a unique challenge. I actively look forward to new games in the series, personally.

Zombie games need to let the dead rest for a bit if ask me.

Space Horror games,  you run away in a ship from the living dead or aliens who want to eat you..

The Fallout games.

Topics like this always make me sad. People always pick the stuff that's most popular or done the most so they end up shunning the games that are given the highest quality budgets usually. People seem to pick them because it isn't their thing or that it's just more popular than they think the series should be when more often than not these franchises are popular for a reason and people don't want to acknowledge that they might actually be in the minority.

No, you're definitely not the only one who thinks that. The Mario franchise is after all one of the first franchises that has survived this long due to the variety of games in it that provides its own niche. I don't see that changing or becoming worse.

I personally don't want any franchise to die, all of them have a chance to provide something new/better in an already existing universe. Some do it right, some do not. How boring it would be if every character/story/universe just disappears after the "initial hype period" because people demanding new IPs all the time.

Why put all effort building it up to waste?
