What does Friendship is Magic/the ponies mean to you?

I tried searching for a topic like this but I couldn't find one so I hope it's okay I make it!

I'm new to this place and I was just thinking about what this show (and it's characters) mean to all you guys. I'm really sick now and I'm having some personal troubles that are making me feel really bad and all that wonderful stuff and I'm watching some songs (mostly Smile, Smile, Smile) and I'm finding myself moved by how sweet and wonderful this show is. It really helps me deal with these problems because it's so light hearted and fun. It's a great escape from my daily problems and troubles and I am just wondering what it means to all you guys, but I'm pretty sure they'll all be similar. :P

So this show cheers me up and helps me not feel like complete crap when my whole day is going wrong. Any stories of what it does to you guys?

It offers an escape from this world's mundane existence.

I see Equestria as a near perfect world.

I sometimes (actually constantly) daydream of living in Equestria.

The world is peaceful? Everypony is happy? Nopony yells at you or expects things of you? Its the perfect world.

Agreed, Equestria seems like the perfect world. There is almost nothing, if not nothing, wrong with it! Not only does the world itself seem like a haven, the inhabitants are (mostly) very kind, meaning you will always be surrounded by people who care about you... What is there not to like?

Great adventuring for great treasures!....Except when I'm hurt...

Just the entire show, the characters, everything about it just makes me happy. Something I never expected from colorful Ponies. It has improved my attitude, helped my make connections with new and interesting people, It even helped me quit smoking. It has just become one of the single biggest aspects of my life.

Right now the aspects of my life are (aside from essentials): Friends(Girlfriend included here), The Army, and Ponies.

The show means a breath of fresh air to me, in terms of:

- A soothing yet impressive display of animation to lighten up the dulling TV of today

- A whole new community that not only I have been involved with since near the beginning, but also allow me to jump ship from one deteriorating hypocritical fandom to another fresher more pleasant fandom to start again

- A whole new cluster of friends I can enjoy and possibly relate with

This show means everything to me. It helped fight my stress.

Anyone got parts for a portal? I need to build one to go to Equestria.

To me, sometimes is an scape from reality; I try to see the bright side of the world; but my thoughts get drowned instantly by everyone else. No too many people undestand me, I always dreamed of a pefect world, and this show puted a spark in my eye; I can mostly say i changed my life.

The main reason i find it more like my perfect world is because everyone is happy, they don't fight everytime, they try to solve a problem for the good of the mods instead of the least (sounds very c0munist but it's true -.- )

That...is a difficult question to answer.

Ultimately, the show itself has just become one of my many interests...one of the most prevalent in my mind lately, especially for the past couple of months, but that has more to do with the fact that so much fanart, fanmusic, fanfiction and other stuff are produced for the show each and every day that there's always something fresh and new to see. The characters mean a great deal to me in terms of how I enjoy watching them and seeing them develop, but if it was just the show itself, without the community, without what's produced in the fandom, I don't think the show would hold nearly as much meaning. It's happy, cheerful, and uplifting, but it wouldn't have become so special without everything else that goes with it.

I'm afraid I would normally be more...verbose, but I haven't been feeling well today, so I shall have to suffice with this fairly short answer.

After watching the new episode, it`s rather... changed my view on Equestria a bit. Not only is not the utopia everybody talks about, but ponies there can be real jerks. But hey, I`d still love to live there. It seems a lot better than the world we live in today, where the sole function of a human being is to fight another human being, if you will.

Its an escape. You can get absorbed into Equestria and be free from the suffering of the real world. To some extent anyway.

To me the community means more than the show. So many people in the world judge things based on stereotypes and preconceived opinions. But we've shown that people don't have to be like that, that things should be judged for their worth. Look how many people have been made happier by it.

What does My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic mean to me? Well, it's an amazing show with a happy mood that encourages my optimistic attitude, and it also has the honor of being my favorite show on television right now. So, in a nutshell, it means happiness, optimism, and quality to me. Also, it makes me smile, smile, smile every time. :)

MLP for me are just one of my numerous hobbies. A way to escape my daily boredom, sometimes as a vent of my frustration (you should try bashing each other at ponychan, feelsgoodman.jpg)

The show is something I just love to see. The characters are the main Hilight of the show. They all stand out in their own way, and thats the best part of the show for me.

To me, it's this.

1. The atmosphere. It's very slapstick-like, but also grounded by realism. It very equivalent to what I've seen from shows such as Dexter's Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls: cartoony environments, semi-realistic logic. It's cheery, but doesn't stick to there all the time. Putting Your Hoof Down was really great in making Equestria more well-rounded instead of being full of flowers.

2. The characters. This is what makes the show drive. Especially for a show rated (TV-Y), where quality tends to be subpar. It's a very refreshing change as of late. The characters are established and become fully developed as characters. When they're not, we can help develop them via fanart and fanfic. The Mane 6 and Spike have personalities that completely vary each other, and they blend so well. They have the ability to be foils and compliments. This leads me to my next reason.

3. The brony/pegasister fandom is tightly knit with each other as well as the staff. Despite feeling heated at times, the fandom is absolutely passionate about the show. They're devoted because it's a great show that isn't willing to sacrafice quality. We've seen the passion via its flourishing support for Derpy following her censorship in "The Last Roundup." While some of them (particularly the ones from 4Chan) definitely took it too far by spamming dissenters' pages, most of the fandom supported Derpy; they were (and to plenty that I've seen, still are) angry mostly because they admire the klutz and don't want Derpy's potential to be an even greater character meddled with. We've seen how much the fandom analyzes the background characters, particularly Derpy. I've never seen that kind of loud, universal passion for a background character to the point where she became a tertiary one, and I adore that. In terms of their connection, the team and fandom converse closely, something I don't see anywhere. Heck, someone from the staff watched the video where some of the character's lines were replaced by bleeps and both "liked" and faved it. Hell, Tara Strong and blackgryph0n communicated with each other, and she would've loved to be a voice for the character in one of BG's animations. This fandom actually means a lot to me as a fan of the show, and it's great seeing all the support the show offers. he fact that the staff basically "toasts" to the fandom at times both in the show and behind the scenes is admirable! :D
