The simplest way is to just go to a site like imgur.com

 

Then take the url and put it in the insert image box.

You would need to upload an avatar that had dimensions that were not greater than 150x150, and the image file must be under 100 KB in size. 

 

If you became a donor or a subscriber, you would be able to upload avatars with dimensions that were not greater than 150x200, and the image file would need to be under 150 KB in size.
