I used to be big on K-pop back in the early days in the 1990s.

Sounds cheesy now, but this song really changed everything.  Seo Taiji was the first pop/rap/dance group to make it big in Korea.  Without them there wouldn't be a Psy, Big Bang, Super Junior, etc. 

 

By the way, the dancer in black and green went on to be the founder of YG Entertainment, the company that developed acts like Big Bang, Seven, Psy, 2NE1, and others. 

 

As far as more current stuff I like, there are only two artists I really care to listen to:

My whole family loves K-pop to varying degrees:

I like bands like TVXQ, B.A.P, Sistar, Block B, and VIXX for there music. I'm more of into K-pop for just the music.

 

My sisters follow Super Junior religiously, but they do like other groups. They just sit on tumblr reblogging gif sets of Kyuhyun and Rio all day everyday.

 

My mom loves every cute (for the most part) K-pop guy group that she finds, Shinee, B1A4, etc. My mom also loves any k-pop group that sings in one of her 300 k-dramas. I've watch a few good K-dramas with her and she has watched some animes with me as a bit of give and take. She is more of into the people aspects of K-pop.

 

My brother and dad don't actively seek it out, but if there is a song the like they'll listen to it. My dad is also into the K-pop reality show with my mom, called We Got Married

Thank you, but it's too far away from where I live and I'm starting school 1-2 days after the con, not the best idea. xD But I can always be a little happy over I might go to a Sungha Jung concert.

 

Do you know Akdong Musician? It's somewhere between K-pop and K-indie, but it's not overly and too much like Girls Generation - I got a boy, I promise! xD
