Favorite Villain: Loki

He is such a magnificent bastard

Runner Up: The Joker (Heath Ledger)

Favorite Hero: Superman (The new one)

He has all the powers anyone could ever want (especially flight)

"You will give the people of earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall, but in time they will join you in the sun. In time you will help them accomplish wonders."

How have I missed this topic?  Oh well, I'm here now, so here we go.

Favorite Superhero: Batman (duh); few superheroes are as complex in character, personality, and background, have as diverse and complex an array of strategies, moves, and gadgets at their disposal in their war on crime, or as fine a rogues gallery as he does.  In my book, he is and always shall be THE GREATEST superhero.

Favorite Supervillain: The Joker (double duh); the Yin to Batman's Yang, the Joker is the perfect archnemesis in my book.  Insane, sadistic, brilliant in his own crazy way, and completely and utterly random and unpredictable in every sense of the word, the Joker embodies all of the evil and chaos that Batman, in his stand for law, order, and justice, so ardently opposes.  Simply put, put the two together in the same room, and you've got the perfect comic book polar opposites.

Addendum: much as I love Catwoman, I could not conscientiously list her as my favorite supervillain, simply because she's not a supervillain, she's an anti-hero.

Does the villain have to directly oppose a superhero? Because then mine would be Sandman out of Spiderman.

Spiderman 3 gets a lot of bad rep for a few things, but I actually really liked it, and that was owed particularly to how they made Flint Marko as a character. I like how he began as a normal police-fleeing criminal who's turned to crime because of a family issue (wanting to see his daughter), and just managed to become mutated into a sand hybrid in a twist of events. I absolutely love the scene where he rises up from the sand having become Sandman, the way he attempts to pick up his daughter's pendant and the following sad expression. I totally felt what he was feeling; "Oh man... I know I've done some bad crap, but can't life make things right for me every now and again?"

I also like how he went and spoke to Peter Parker following the \death of Harry and Eddie\. About how circumstances always seemed to turn around and bite him in the ass; and that he never chose to lead the life of a criminal but was rather pushed into it by the flow of life. It wasn't some catastrophic event that nearly ever super villain becomes a super villain from, he became a villain from just having a consistently terrible life. It was a great touch.

I want to know what happened to him and his daughter... why did he have to disappear like that at the end of the film? :c

(Oh wait, I wrote this based on the films. Still, his story is similar in all of the comics. And Thomas Haden Church made a fantastic Sandman.)

I love the Hulk. Or more specifically, Bruce Banner. dry.png  But since he himself is not a superhero, just an extremely smart guy, his alter-ego is my favorite superhero. But for just hero, Banner is my favorite. Especially Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of him. yay.png

For the villain, Loki. I just love him in the Avengers! laugh.png

Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero since I was a kid, and he still is. Not only do I identify with the character of Peter Parker, but he has to deal with so much crap that other superheroes don't. Things that I think a superhero In the real world would have to deal with.

As far as a villain, I have to go with The Joker. He is one of the most brilliantly designed supervillains in the comic world. He really feels like the perfect anti-Batman. (Who is my second favorite superhero) And I agree with a previous poster that Nolan and Ledger's Joker was PERFECT.

"You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness, and I won't kill you, because you're just too much fun."

That perfectly sums up the relationship between Batman and The Joker, IMO.

Wait, does have to be out of books and comic books or can it be from anything? Well I'll do my favourite villains and superheroes from both.

From books (I don't read many comic books) my favourite villain would have to be Boba Fett from the Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter Wars book series. He always survives and come out on top no matter what is thrown at him, and from what I've read he has a lot thrown at him.

My favourite hero from books would have to be, erm, I don't really have an overall favourite so I'll just post a few of the ones that I like. Skulduggery Pleasant from the Skulduggery Pleasant book series, Owen from the book 'The Navigator', Delta Squad from the book 'Gears of War: Coalitions End'.

From other types of media's such as games or TV series my favourite villain would have to be Kane from the Command & Conquer Tiberium game series. Kane is my favourite character purely because of his personality and the fact that he's been killed, what three times now, and still he comes back fighting with the Brotherhood at his side.

My favourite hero from a game or TV series would have to be Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect universe. He is quite simply put an unstoppable bad ass of destruction. Despite everyone's best efforts to kill him he still survives to save the galaxy, again.

Favorite Superhero-

Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing/ Batman)- He's been my favorite because of the fact that he was one of the superhero that actually developed beyond the hero they were and kept getting better. He started of as Robin and trained as Batmans partner then when moved on to becoming Nightwing and formed the Teen Titans and then when Batman was warped to a different plane of reality by DarkSide Dick became Batman and was an even better batman then Bruce Wayne...... then the reboot removed that from continuity :(

also special mentions to Aquaman, Kyle Rayner (Former Green now White Lantern), Spider-man, Punisher and Miles Morales (Ultimate Spider-man)

Favorite Villain-

hhmmmmm this ones tough but I would have to say The Hulk, during World war Hulk.

I'm a Batman man, myself. ( <- Awkward wording FTW.) As much as I'd like to say that some obscure hero is my favorite, Batman's been my favorite ever since I was a kid. Incarnation-wise, I'd say Michael Keaton's Batman is my favorite, aside from the one from the '90s animated series.

As for villains, I was always a fan of the Riddler for some reason. Not sure why...his concept is a little lame, when you think about it. But the thought that this guy leaves riddles that even the "world's greatest detective" has trouble solving from time to time amuses me verily.

Hero(s):Obviously the best superhero is Phoenix Wright, who else?

Ah, Batman,Swamp Thing, Toa Tahu, Toa Gali, Toa Lewa, Toa Kopaka, Toa Phohatu, and Toa Onua.

Villian(s):Dahlia hawthorne is the best bad guy.

Also,Matt Engarde, Manfred Von Karma,Kristoph Gavin,Harley Quinn, Scarecrow and Makuta

Also, Deadpool's no hero, villain nor Anti-hero. He's a mercenary. He works for the highest bidder, everyone's just been blowing him out of proportion lately.

hero: Raven (not cause she voiced by Tara Strong cause raven was my favorite before that)/Rogue (from X-men cause she is the most over powered mutant i mean look at here power "Absorption of memories, skills, and powers through skin-to-skin contact (the longer the contact occurs, the longer Rogue will retain the abilities or memories. If she maintains contact long enough, the absorption is permanent)" )
villain: Joker (cause he's just want to get everyone to "smile smile smile" but seriously one of the coolest villain in the DC universe)/ Red hood (joker before the accident that made him joker but in not talking about that red hood im talking about the one that use to be robin the second robin. idk if he's a villan? he's like a batman that kills the villain instead of letting them live)

Oh dang...I could talk about this for hours. I've been a comic book and superhero nerd since I was a kid. Let's see.

Objectively, who is "best superhero" in my opinion? Well, depends on how you define "best". By best, do we mean "most powerful"? Or "best character development"? I really don't feel like typing a long thing right now...maybe later. Short version, GO.

Most powerful: Superman. Dear sweet Celestia, he is OP.

Best character: Hmm....Batman is definitely up there...I'd toss Spiderman in there, too.

Personal favorite: Spiderman. Always has been, probably always will be. I've always been able to identify with Peter Parker. Not to mention he's a LOT more powerful than most people realize.

Villians...

Most powerful: Hmmm...tough call, here...I mean, saying things like..."Galactus" is kinda unfair. Meh, poo on this catergory.

Best character: Either The Joker or Doctor Doom.

Personal favorite: Have to go with The Joker. And I shouldn't have to explain why.

Favorite hero is Ratchet from the Ratchet and Clank games. He saves galaxies armed with his trusty wrench and crazy weaponry along with his sidekick Clank.

Favorite villain is Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2. Jack comes off as a huge jerk, but he is also funny and likable. So, it's a love/hate thing with him. Such a memorable villain in my opinion. He is actually on the list of my top ten favorite villains in video game history.

My favorite hero is DEFINITELY Nightwing, especially after reading Nightwing: Traps and Trapezes, Saiko was a pretty cool villain, but Bane (post Poison Ivy) is probably my favorite villain, I mean, he's super strong and smart. Deathstroke is my second favorite villain, and Spiderman is my second favorite hero.

Heroes

Son Goku - I mentioned this before in the first anime thread, DBZ changed my life around for the better, and Goku is a huge part of that. He was very inspiration as a character because as strong as he becomes, he always reaches a limit and fights to exceed that limit and always improve no matter how tough things may get for him.

Luke Skywalker - Luke is also another one of my favorite heroes due to his personal growth throughout the classic Star Wars movies (which were the only good ones so far). Going from the reckless boy thirsty for adventure to a man who knows his priorities and has seen pain but always had faith in people's goodness even if they were deep in a dark path, namely his father, was what puts him up there in my books.

Raiden - From Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Rising, his backstory is incredibly dramatic and painful and despite that, he tries to be a good person and ultimately rises above his past and fought for what he believes in. I'm one of the very few people who like him a lot more than either Snake or Big Boss.

Villains

Ogre/True Ogre - From the Tekken series, his character doesn't get too much development as you might expect from a fighting game series where he only appears once, but the reason I like him as much as I do is because he is by far the most original final boss in all the games, incorporating move sets from multiple characters from the series and transforming into a more powerful beast.

Darth Vader/Emperor Palpatine - As well as DBZ, I grew up with Star Wars, and Vader has always been, to my perception, an insurmountable villain who also has a deep relationship with the main character. Vader represented everything that Luke could become if he went down a dark path and his defeat once Luke rejected Palpatine's offer to join him epitomizes Luke's growth. And then Palpatine himself, showing his true powers which go even beyond what Vader ever displayed was jaw-dropping.

I love you for making this topic. :P

Heroes: Definitely either Batman or Ironman. Captain America could be up there too. But Batman I think is the most complex, and Ironman is the most enjoyable onscreen. ^^ (You will never find Superman on this list...never. X_X)

Villains: The Joker! Hello? Best villain ever, whether it be in films, TV shows, or comic books! xD A close second could be Hannibal Lecter, because he's so gosh darned creepy. xD
