SnipSnap 432 March 6, 2014 Share March 6, 2014 I have my Portal/Pinkie Pie crossover wallpaper on my iPad right now, but nobody can get on it, because it's password-protected. Although, I do want to let some people know I'm a brony by hinting them off, like downloading the Mane 6 ragoll pack for Gmod. 1 All credit goes to Kyoshi
Archer Dash 163 March 6, 2014 Share March 6, 2014 I used to be a closet brony, I didn't really hide it from my parents though because they really don't care. Then my friend became one and that made it much easier for me to come out of hiding. Blaze Bronson 343 March 6, 2014 Share March 6, 2014 If people sit on my PC, they will see wallpapers of Pinkie Pie. If they ask, i'll just say I watch the show. If they make a big deal out of it, that says more about them than it does about me. I don't actively tell people about it though. But those close to me finds out quick, because i'm into the show obviously. If I have something interesting to say regarding the show, then I say it. I don't bottle it up. You are not supposed to do that when you are with friends. 1 OC: Blaze Bronson (Drawing by Digiral)
Kaska 30 March 7, 2014 Share March 7, 2014 (edited) Keep everyone off my phone. my music is such a dead giveaway. I know no-one watches my browsing history, but no-one may browse through my pc files. Yes, I am good with hiding mlp vids in a jumble of folders but still. hehe, once left a mlp vid running and my friend saw, blamed it on a virus, worked like a bomb Funny thing, I actually don't even go near being an anti-brony, in my social areas, I actually support bronys, though no-one thinks I'm one Edited March 7, 2014 by Kaska EPIC SIGS here
Felix 1,363 March 7, 2014 Share March 7, 2014 (edited) I'm a closet brony in that when I wear a shirt in public/school I usually have it covered with my jacket. Other than that, my best friend knows and my family knows. But if someone asked me if I was one I'd likely say yes. Edited March 7, 2014 by FeIix Credit to Kyoshi for the awesome signature! SacredHooves 39 March 7, 2014 Share March 7, 2014 The only real "Brony items" I own at the moment is six trading cards from the 2nd season trading set. I personally don't give a flying apple if people know I am one. I just don't take kindly to people picking on a "minority" for any reason whatsoever. I wish I had an Applejack plushie or t-shirt to wear. Beyond that anyone who comes into my room and sees me watching the show doesn't say anything
StarSwirlTheBearded 356 March 8, 2014 Share March 8, 2014 It actually isn't that hard, although it is probably impossible if the computer is shared with others. I don't own any brony merchandise or have any brony wallpapers on my computer/phone. I wonder how people can pull off having brony stuff without revealing it, unless they live alone. I have been considering dropping subtle references to start searching for bronies. However, if I found bronies in that way, they may end up revealing that I am a brony in public. That would be bad. I agree your not a closet brony if you "open" about in in terms of having shirts being worn, having images openly on your computer that is shared. Also owning any merchandise that people can run into and not having a problem does not mean your "closeted". Basically, just not talking about MLP does not mean your closeted if you have all of the above. Closet bronies will do anything possible just like a couple people on this thread have said to avoid being found out. Unless of course you meet a brony yourself who will not have a big mouth and will let the world know they you both are bronies.
GXPBlast 597 March 10, 2014 Author Share March 10, 2014 It's not that hard, really. I just use a separate browser that automatically clears history when closed, and use headphones to watch/listen to pony related stuff. It helps that I'm not that interested in getting merch either. I've thought about telling people but it's really just not worth all the shit. I'm different enough as it is. If you do live with family and they are in the house with some being very noisy at times like barging into your room and such, its best to have a lock on your door ^^ The lock on my door has saved me from such awkward moments and things I dont want my parents or anyone else to see lol. Quill The Pony. 175 March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 My mom has caught me on this forum a few times, but I was able to lie about why I was on here. The only people that know I'm a brony are my 2 closest friends, and my GF, who is also a fan. I have Firefox set to not remember history, so I don't need to worry about anyone going through my history. In fact, my parents would probably think I'm looking at porn, but they don't really care if I do. I don't have any merch, and I obviously don't go to conventions. My GF on the other hand, has some plushes, a RD jacket and goes to conventions. My parents don't know that she does though. I've acted like an anti-brony around my dad. The most I've ever said about MLP around my other friends was that it's a decent show, given the targeted demographic. I think that's it.
Hypn0ticD 1,213 March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 I live alone and have my own laptop, so I just don't bring it up with anyone unless I know them / trust them enough to tell them… There are VERY few people that I speak to in general, and even then, I wouldn't be stupid enough to tell them anything so it's second nature for me to keep my mouth shut! If I ever get the chance to but merchandise, it'll be an online purchase! Hypn0's Art Dump! Check it out sometime!

PinkieAlliPie 421 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Wow you are really a closet brony, im not that "closety" xD I just don´t let any of my friends know, except my BFF and another friend that likes MLP. I would´t wear something MLP outside because someone from school can see me or go to convention because they might ask where am I going and I am really bad a lieing. GXPBlast 597 March 15, 2014 Author Share March 15, 2014 I should also mention its great having a lock on my door as people cant walk in on me without notice, so if they try to open my door, I have enough time to clear my browser and close anything pony related. LightsCameraAction 100 March 15, 2014 Share March 15, 2014 Well, let me see. I am a closet brony, but my brony pride has let it slip a few times. I have been caught by my family on a few separate occasions. 1. My sister knocked on my door, I didn't hear her (headphones) and she came into my room while I was watching the beyond her tomb music video. 2. Stepmom picked up my phone and thought it was hers, she looked at the wallpaper that I stupidly had on my LOCK screen, and saw rainbow dash. 3. I plain out told my parents that it was a good show, and they just didn't even acknowledge it, almost like they didn't want to believe it. Anyway, if my parents were to knock on my door while I was typing this, I switched to a different window. I have 2 monitors, so I have Steam pulled up over my Vinyl Scratch wallpaper on the other one. I am protective of my phone because I have pony pics on there, and if my mom needs to do something with pictures on my computer, I won't let her use my pictures folder, hers go in a separate folder on the desktop, which I switch the wallpaper of if she needs to use my computer at all. Um, let's see. I also make them use a desktop browser (Google Chrome) and I use the Windows 8 version of Internet Explorer because it is uber fast. So yeah, do I go to great lengths? No. Do I still try to hide it? Definitely.

I almost got caught on mlpforums just today actually, my mom did not knock on my door and I forgot to lock it, I did not have enough time to close my browser so at the last couple of milliseconds, I did a (Windows button+L) and locked my screen. Super close call, my heart was actually racing after she left XD. Edited March 22, 2014 by FurzVette
aoEAF2FBvC0MIo2Q 3,673 March 22, 2014 Share March 22, 2014 I guess if the rubber hit the road, I might go to great lengths to hide it but for the moment, I don't need to put much effort into it. For starters, there are no such conventions here. Ever. No local brony community. What's more, I've no innate desire to get the toys (though I sometimes think about the comics) because heck, being an avid Metroid fan, the only merchandise I have of that franchise are just the games. Currently I have an SD card hidden in an unused school pouch in a drawer where pretty useless stuff gets stored. Inside that SD card are brony music and other brony-related stuff that I don't want on my computer because there's always that possibility that someone will need to borrow my PC when I'm already logged in and find some funny stuff in the My Pictures or Downloads folder
StarSwirlTheBearded 356 March 23, 2014 Share March 23, 2014 I even have a contingency plan for passing off the ponies' names as names of ships, stores, brands, or other kinds of establishments if I ever let one of their names slip in casual conversation (which I think is highly unlikely). I will really need to perfect this as I become more of a brony. In my case, I'm more worried about other things in MLP that aren't ponies such as parasite/parasprite and Camelot/Canterlot. I've thought of scenarios where I may accidentally say Fluttershy or Applejack, but the pony-names themselves don't worry me as much. Ship names... quite clever. Red Cedar 1,408 March 23, 2014 Share March 23, 2014 I don't really hide it, but I don't really broadcast it, either. I haven't even told my one other friend who I am fairly certain is a pegasister herself. That said, I'm definitely coming out of the stables in August when I attend my first MLP convention, but I'll still have my seven-year-old daughter with me for plausible deniability, just in case. 1 Roleplaying OC: Red Cedar - Cast Character: Applejack
InspiredBrony 31 March 24, 2014 Share March 24, 2014 I used to be a closed brony, and my tactics used to be: - say that this a seat was more comfortable than the others if I was caught drawing pony art (yes, this did work) - criticize MLP if I was questioned about liking it (that was SOOOOO hard to do) - very cleverly hide all mlp related stuff on any devices to ensure that I was not found out Certain events led to me leaving the closet. If you want the story, just ask. Auto-correct sucks. I need to proofread.
GXPBlast 597 March 28, 2014 Author Share March 28, 2014 (edited) As some of you may know I am a closet brony and go to great lengths to prevent being found out. One of those things include avoid visiting any MLP based site such as this when I am using a computer surrounded by people or when I am at college browsing the web.Usually to avoid this is go to the school lounge with nobody around to be able to view my phone from a certain distance, and I come on site like these. But sometimes the phone sucks and replying to threads can be a hassle.Well today I got a chance to visit MLP forums at school during my breaks as the computer labs was empty with only me in it. There was a thread I had to read and reply to and as I am about to reply after I logged in, a couple of guys walk in.My schools has a crappy network and sometimes it freezes up when I try to exit apllications. As they are getting closer to my computer I was like in some movie or something as it was a race against time I tried exiting my browser and clearing my history but the computer locked up with MLP forums in full screen. I am not kidding when I told you this but my heart started pounding and I started to sweat. I had to to go with an emergency unplug the computer from the wall socket which was easy enough as it was next to me. Luckily nobody noticed, but it was an extreme close call and I think I may just stick to using my cell phone even though the screen sucks to type on. Just when I thought I was in the clear, I was not.Any other closet bronies have close calls? If so please share your story. Wardaddy 470 March 28, 2014 Share March 28, 2014 (edited) Well, one day recently, I was browsing away on Facebook, when one of my friends from school PM'd me. For the moment, all seemed well, until he mentioned that he knew I was a brony. For me, this was bad. I could feel my heart shift as I began to panic. All throughout school, the entire six years of that long, dreadful phase of my life I had never slipped the slightest hint of my bronyism. I never talked about the show, nor did I wear any merch or sing any of the songs from the show. I was the perfect undercover brony, and just when I thought I had eluded exposure by my jock friends, one of them had found me out. I was terrified of the fallout from this. Everyone would know, and I was powerless to stop it. Thankfully, the friend turned out to be another school friend of mine, who was also a brony. I assumed he was using the fake name to preserve his cover. Panic over, life went on. http://derpibooru.org/248701?scope=scpeb5ab11cf3b008ce69b204a9a98c8aba5f6513724 Edited March 28, 2014 by Firebolt Blitz 4 "Ideals are peaceful.........history is violent" Sgt.
