What Do You Struggle With Most When Doing Art/Writing/Music/Etc.?

Lines = easy, but curves = hard (grip and focus issues); every time I sketch, I have to start out with rigid geometry, then gradually contour as I go along... Said sketches always turn out more proportional that way.

 

Is that bad?

For art, it's freedrawing. I always have to use a ref pic because whenever I try to freedraw, it just doesn't come out the way I wanted to.

Currently with my writing, I feel I struggle trying to have a varied vocabulary and provide detailed descriptions for an object or place. Most pressing however is the lack of a 2nd computer as everyone else has used our sole computer since the laptop went capoot.

I have trouble coloring in digital and traditional art. It takes me forever and I don't do a good job. Especially in traditional because I use color pencils and when I have to color something big or moderately big, it's nothing but trouble.

Hands have always been a bitch, but now that I mostly draw pones these days, my troubles have shifted to getting the hind legs to look right. Why the hell do they have to bend backwards... -_-

 

Fore legs are also an issue for me, at least in any position other than standing. Hard to tell where all the joints should fall.

 

Lastly, I'd say wings are also a pain in the plot. Not so much closed wings, but they're certainly awkward looking when extended.

Backgrounds, they usually turn out alright in a sketch but refined they just don't look good.

With art, I can't draw straight lines or perfect curves.

 

With writing, vocabulary, ideas (I keep changing my mind), Motivation (I get really lazy).

 

Music, never attempted though I did have a go at some YTPMV's but could never pitch them right, also motivation is a problem here.

Free sketching is really hard for me. I have great attention to detail but I can't view a picture as a whole in my mind so I always have to use a reference. After a while of drawing something over and over I can draw that one picture without a reference,but if I were to even try and rotate a figue slightly I wouldn't be able to without another reference.

I the when ever your drawing in pencil, and you go to erase. And you swipe away the shavings and the whole thing smudges and graphite gets all over your hand.

The main problem I always have with writing music is that I'm very good at writing one part of the song (melody, chorus, verse, etc.), but I'm never able to finish it. So the two scenarios I end up with are: 1.) I just have a bunch of parts of songs and none of them ever get finished or 2.) I somehow find a way to combine them and the end result just sounds awkward and unfocused. 

 

I'm slowly getting better at it, but it is definitely still a problem I struggle with.

Drawing: my inexperiance... I know HOW to draw. My brother is doing an art's study and 'tought' how to learn to draw. I know a few techniques, I have proper equipment, and I practice a lot, but my muscle memory is just not good enough to let me make what I want :c

 

With music: the fact that as soon as I have an idea for a song, I don't know what to do with it, though recently I have overcome this problem. Since I practice a LOT of improv on piano because, u kno, jazz 'n stuff, I don't have a lot of problems with melodies though, and that is nice :3

I struggle with my art a lot of the times. Especially when I want to create something from my mind or the head. And not use any references pictures from drawing books etc. Because sometimes thats how i like to draw by creating a character from the mind! lol. But yeah i sometimes have to use a reference for different poses, angles and what not and i do use shapes and lines also too when i want something really actiony like. I am not professional when it comes to doing this, because i am teaching myself to draw better with no classes. But i do hope to keep practicing and improve. I really want to have my own manga or comic someday. One thing also struggle with is anatomy for manga, anime and comic art. its so hard to draw manga anatomy.

 

Has anyone ever had trouble when it comes to anatomy in your drawings?

My issues with drawing include the hooves, tails, eyes, bodes, heads, manes, legs, snouts, ears, and staying motivated (I only even TRY to draw ponies, as of now).

When it comes to producing music I struggle a lot with composing melodies I feel will capture and engage a listener. I know my basic theory but every time I try I produce some weird arpeggio bullcrap that sounds awful. I need to learn to play a real instrument at some point, too.

As a musician/producer the most challenging part has been the managerial stuff. My job takes up 50-60 hours/week, leaving little time or energy for music. It helps to schedule studio sessions at least 2 weeks in advance (especially if several performers will be working together), but it's still tricky.

It sucks so much when you know exactly what you want to say, but you can't put it into words.

Or when you know a specific word for something exists, but you can't seem to recall it.

I have found that both the hardest thing to draw and the best way to make your art look better are the dreaded NSFW stuff. I know so many people will shutter at those four letters but if you start doing a couple of those you will find you regular stuff will look better. NSFW art gives you all these really hard angles and shapes that really help you understand the anatomy. And doing some drawing exercises help make your lines more natural. As for my worst problem with my art. Procrastination is the worst of it.
