Chemically speaking? It's from ehtyl-something...I think ethylene....not sure on that! , On an Evolutionary standpoint, It's probably red to attract animals to eat it , so it can spread it's seeds more.

I would have to say The Best Night Ever, because it was the first FiM episode I saw, and what eventually led me into the community. I love its morals about making the best of things even though they don't go as planned. Very applicable to my life.

I dislike it when people go overboard with analysis and then start flame wars with others who have different opinions. In the end of the day, it's just a show. Too much analysis can take the fun out of it, in my opinion.

i really like Luna's whole issue with the Moon Parasite but it really bugs me that you never really get an in depth look at the internal battle she had that lead up to the Parasite winning control 

at most in the comics you just see Luna becoming frustrated at nothing or Celestia mention Luna has become distant lately
