Darker 1,352 August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 Creepypasta is one of the best things that has ever happened to the world of horror. Nowadays horror books and movies are pretty bad. 1 Overlord of Darkness Signature made by: Astral Blitzen http://mlpforums.com/user/24786-astral-blitzen/
ShadowPirateX 600 August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 I don't consider myself a fan of them, but I enjoy the occasional MLP creepypasta/grimdark material. But I'm a bigger fan of black comedy. Jeric 46,872 August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 Creepypasta is one of the best things that has ever happened to the world of horror. Nowadays horror books and movies are pretty bad. While I don't share your exact level of enthusiasm, I do celebrate creepypasta as the evolution of horror folk tales in the internet age. One part urban legend, and one part fan fiction. It makes the writer in my heart smile, and I bet Stephen King likely would approve of the concept. To the OP question, I can tell you that creepypasta is not exclusive to the Brony fandom ... not even a little.
GXPBlast 597 August 25, 2014 Author Share August 25, 2014 To the OP question, I can tell you that creepypasta is not exclusive to the Brony fandom ... not even a little. I understand that but what I am getting at is that out of the many non brony related videos on the internet (excluding MLP themed creepy pastas) I tend to see many brony avatars in the comment sections compared to the other videos I see where there are brony avatars in other videos unrelated to creepy pastas. What I am getting at is that bronies really seem drawn to creepy pastas videos and not that its a bad thing because I am one of those bronies. Also like I said before, for people who love such a positive show with a overall fluffy atmosphere, we sure do like really dark stuff lol
Moonlight Magician 494 August 25, 2014 Share August 25, 2014 Oh hell yeah. I love creepypastas. My favorite creepypasta reader on YouTube is SomeOrdinaryGamers. ^ This. I love listening to him read. Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,304 August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I don't like creepy with mah pony lol. This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a good "scary story." My favorite author of all-time is H.P. Lovecraft, and I personally write mostly in the vein of horror. But borrowing an already-beloved character for the purpose of horror strikes me as rather lazy and uncreative. Because you're also borrowing all of the emotions that the audience attaches to them, and you've done nothing as an author to really earn any further emotional reactions (or, rather, you'd automatically get a bigger reaction with a pony than you might with just some OC you concocted). I think an author should create their own character, cause the reader(s) to care about said character, and then unexpectedly and / or brutally murder that character lol. So whatever reaction you get was earned; even if that reaction is negative. To be clear, I'm not trying to express a low opinion of people who enjoy these sorts of works. Nor am I really implying that anyone who creates them is lacking in imagination in general. I could go write some ridiculous gorefic starring Snips&Snails right now and potentially become a hero of the internet lol. But I think it's far more satisfying and challenging to start without a preexisting fictional foundation. I want to make EVERYTHING. I want to make you love or hate or not particularly care about a character that you'd never heard of before. Just mah two cents. Also, I love Rainbow Dash. And running across fan "art" that depicts harm being done to her is a punch in the f****** heart. 1 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. But that does not mean making things up. KokuraiNoSenshi 3,463 August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 First off why can't this just be an enjoyment? Why does everything have to be an obsession? I mean, we aren't that overdone with the stuff we en- *Looks through a few topics & how vicious the shipping wars get* ...Nevermind we obsess. A lot. Anywho... I actually became a fan of MLP, in a very roundabout way, because of Creepy Pastas. Cupcakes was the very first thing I ever indulged in that was MLP based without being forced into it/finding it sprayed on TF2 maps lol. After that I found Princess Molestia & thought it was funny, & as time passed I looked up more & more MLP related content until one day I found someone who I decided to give a chance & well, here I am now! Just mah two cents. Also, I love Rainbow Dash. And running across fan "art" that depicts harm being done to her is a punch in the f****** heart. I think we can all agree that seeing our favorite little equines being tormented for no real reason other than shock value isn't fun... Cupcakes may have gotten me into this fandom but now the idea of RD being tortured like that is quite upsetting... 1 Thank you Pinkamena-Pills for resizing the original, and putting that little message at the end
Falsey 44 August 26, 2014 Share August 26, 2014 I enjoy horror in general, and as long as a creepypasta isn't atrocious, and is written well, I do enjoy indulging in them. Bunnyhop123 194 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 (edited) Most creepypastas I find are terribly written both grammatically and plot-wise, but there are a few that I enjoy (Mr. Widemouth for one). As for MLP creepypasta, well..... I don't get it. I understand shipping, as many people like to see their favourite characters together, but to see their favourite characters viciously mutilated? What is the appeal of that? I'm being serious here–I'm not trying to attack anyone, I just want to know: why do people like that? UCD 75 August 27, 2014 Share August 27, 2014 I am so addicted to creepypasta that I woke up last night covered in Ragu. Some can get ridiculously cliche (Pokemon and MLP are the main examples here), but there are some well written pastas buried in the internet if one has the patience to find them. I also like the trollpastas that make a satire of the badly-written cliche stories. It's kind of ironic that my interests are so varied. I have 5 tabs up right now, 1. This site 2. "The Strangest Security Tape I Have Ever Seen (Excellent read, btw) 3. Nine Inch Nails - Heresy 4. A recipe for Chitlins 5. An ebay search for synthesizers and MIDI controllers Bronies really are a phenomenon huh? We like the dark and grimy as well as the lighthearted and sweet. That's why MLP fandom is best fandom. Odyssey 5,718 September 14, 2015 Share September 14, 2015 (edited) No, I'm not a fan of creepypastas. I don't mind horror and gore, but many of them within the MLP:FiM fandom are poorly written. On occassion they're will be a creepypasta that is truly scary, but unfortunately most of them rely too often on the gore and the murder. It gets predictable very fast.
