All the DRAMA & BACKLASH associated with the Brony fandom always scares me.

 

This mostly comes from us overreacting to every little thing from Pinkie Pie not being written "in character" in Flli Vanilli to other things that we've blown up in the past. I'm pretty sure we all remember the Derpy fiasco of 2012 to Twilicorn and EQG in 2013, and now the recently announced EQG 2 of 2014. 

 

So yeah.... blowing things out of proportion will always scare me :[

Here's the problem with that reasoning, at least according to what i used to think.

 

The entire reason that I idealized the fandom--and that many others do the same--lies in it not as a group of individuals, but as a collective Whole. Those idealists want to say that Bronies are the Kindest, Friendliest, Purest people on the Internet, or something to that extent. Here's an example of that line of thought...

Problems arise when individuals within the collective go against those ideals, and then the Idealists are caught in a dilemma between the reality of the situation--Bronies are a group of people and as such are innately flawed--and their hope that the Brony fandom could rise above the rest and be something more.

 

At least in my case, in order to be an idealist, I needed you and everyone else in the fandom to go along with it.

 

Which, by the way, is rather easy. You already seem to have several of the traits that I valued--Kindness and Friendliness--which are really not that difficult for most I have encountered in this fandom. Ideals, just like stereotypes, exist for a reason, even if that reason isn't quite consistent with reality. My biggest problem was that R34 clashed with my ideal of this fandom being Something More than just another fandom with its own impurities...but anyway, now I'm rambling and I sound like a jerk. *sigh* I need to learn to internalize my values. If only I was an INFP instead of an INFJ...gah! I need to be relevant.

 

My point is that, in my case at least, my ideal of the fandom required that everyone went along with it. There was no possible way I could keep my dream (that the Bronies are the Purest group of people on Earth) without actually believing it and acting accordingly.

 

EDIT: Oh by the way, in response to something in your original reply: I never idealized MLP:FiM, I only idealized its fanbase. 

 

 

R34..... is mostly created by people who dont watch the show- they do it for the $$$$$

Most bronies are extremely nice people to the point of respecting you even if you were satanic 

this fandom is more organized than a pack of whales(this is a compliment!) The more meaner people are kind of like the protectors of the fandom, kind of explains how brony websites and topics aren't spammed with hate.

Those grimdark stories the fandom produces, like Cupcakes, Cheerilee's  Garden, etc. I don't see why we have to have those, but I guess that comes with the territory of having a fandom -_-

 

Also, the fact that the .MOV series got popular

I agree, Cupcakes was horrifying (To us at least) The .MOV series was a little creepy, but more funny and stupid than anything.

I know, isn't it sad? I am under the impression there is some sort of subliminal messaging within the show that brain washes certain people who will zealously cling to pony superiority in almost every sense. These types of bronies will provide so much logic to something ever so illogical as in ponies beating humans in a war that its almost scary! I heard it all! Everything from 'its possible to shoot down a AH-64 Apache with apples' to 'there is actually a parallel universe that contains ponies'.

Most of the grimdark fanfics are pretty childish, IMO. They either throw around descriptive gore without the proper timing and throws away everything previously established in the show (Sweet Apple Massacre), or try too hard to be scarier than it honestly is, trying to take advantage of it's hype (Cupcakes).

 

Now, Forever Faithful and Haunting Nightmare, I wouldn't say that they're the best, but those two did manage to keep me up at night.

I wish people didn't treat being a brony as a bad thing. It scares me because I originally got a few shirts because I was thinking: "Hey, why not? It's just supporting the fandom and I think some of the shirts have pretty cool but simple designs. In the meantime I can meet bronies easier, which I've never done before." But...people treat being a brony like it's pretty bad. I understand where that comes from and why, but it causes me to feel a bit ashamed in myself. I end up hiding my shirts out of shyness and terror (though whether being a brony was considered a good or okay thing or not I'm still shy about showing that kind of thing off) So...I just wish people's first thoughts about being a brony weren't "Stay away, you're creepy." ...Because I've been told that before.

 

I'm so sorry. I'm not blaming anyone. I'm really not. I respect everyone that's involved in every form of fan creations. It's just bronies being imaginative. That's okay. It's good to have such great imagination. But...I wish it didn't have the domino effect thus causing everyone in the fandom to be seen as bad people. We're all so different and the lot of us really aren't bad people in anyway. Everyone I've met this far are the nicest people ever. No one realizes it.

 

So yeah. It makes it kinda scary to be proud of what I enjoy.
