Does anyone else find it funny that the comic DOES actually seem to be geared more towards older fans and that's the MLP media he thinks it's weird for us to consume .

I'm not too familiar with the laws in the UK, but it doesn't seem like what he's doing should be illegal, because bronies aren't a race or religion or sexual orientation.

 

The main thing would be that's it's just bad business, as they've burned a potential future customer over something dumb.

 

If the *bleeping* KKK has successfully sued someone for discrimination against their order we shouldn't have any problems.

Don't know about your country, but in my country it is illegal to refuse selling something to you if it's on sale, because this is considered discrimination. And it doesn't depend on your race, religion, belief system or whatever. "Because you're a Brony" is enough reason. Equally well as "I don't like you and I don't service you". You can go back there and demand selling it to you or you can call his manager. I'm sure he won't be happy that one of his workers is mistreating his customers and lowering his sales.

Yeah, I'll have to echo going back and complaining to someone in charge (provided said worker isn't the one in charge). As far as I'm aware, legally, he can't refuse you service without a good valid reason and "not liking the thing you like" is not a valid reason and could very well cost him his job. 

Here in the USA, and other places I think, stores hold the right to refuse service to anyone; for any reason.  I'm not defending the store clerk, i'm just saying that Stores do have that right.

He's not the boss. I've never seen this guy before, but I agree, why the hell work there if he doesn't want to sell me the merchandise!

I am not making excuses for the guy but sometimes you have to take a job where you will have to do certain things you really don't want to do in this guys case interacting with bronies every now and then. He is still a jackass, but just shedding some light on that mystery as someone who has had to master bullshit as a second language to survive in my particular job. I have been meaning to make a blog post about that. I would probably have a little chat with the manager and if that dosen't help will take my business elsewhere I wouldn't want to give my money to a business that treats me like crap.

That would only work if he was discriminated against for race, religion, or sexuality. You can't discriminate against a fan of a show, and it is probably technically within his right to refuse service. I wouldn't make a big deal of it if it was me. Then again, I shudder just at the thought of buying an MLP magazine or, well, anything MLP, let alone at a public store, but that's just me.

Technically, that's not always true. While stores do tend to post signs to that effect, the legal precedent varies from state to state in the United States. California, for instance has called the Unruh Civil Rights Act, which has been used many times to rule on the validity of that right. The ruling there is that a store cannot refuse service unless doing so violates another law (for example food health and safety in the case of 'no shirt, no shoes, no service'), or if allowing service is actively disruptive to the business.

After work today I went to my local comic store to buy issue 2 of MLP friends forever. However when I asked the guy behind the counter for it, he refused to sell it to me, saying he thought Bronies were weird! Needless to say, I had a few choice words with him.

Do you think I should go back and complain?

Alright, there's a simple way to handle this without any sort of conflict. Next time, before you go into the store, put on a dark grey hoodie and aviator sunglasses. The result should look something like this:

 

 

Enter the store, find your comic and silently place it on the counter. Stare at the man. Just stand there silently and STARE. If he refuses, stare harder. Still refusing? You're still staring. We're talking a good five minutes of solid silent staring here. If he's still refusing at this point, nod slowly and say, "We are not supposed to hate anyone, yet almost everyone hates somebody at some time or other, whether he admits it to himself or not. Shame... Expect a package from me next week." Smile, and walk off.

Complain to his manager and do what you can to bring hell out of it. As a store worker, he has NO right to refuse service to you or to insult you in any way, shape, or form. He's breaking basic requirements of working as a storeclerk and you're more than allowed to file a complaint about it with the higher-ups.

The excerpt I pulled from the article basically says you have a discrimination claim against any business who refuses you service for arbitrary reasons (being a fan of a show for instance). Refusing a brony service does not sound like protecting business.
