Big Mac can pull a HOUSE with no problem, but strained to lift a stove?

From Hearts and Hooves day and Pinkie Apple Pie respectively. Big Mac at first seemed to strain with the extra weight of the house, but right after that just seemed to say whatever and kept dragging it with no problem.

However, in Pinkie Apple Pie he lifted the stove to prove he was "the strong one" and we can see him sweating with the effort.

I guess you could claim it as just using different muscles, or the difference between pulling something and lifting something, but the weight difference between the two should make that irrelevant.

Never underestimate the power of comedic effect. Logic and physics have no place in cartoon comedy and the more you try to figure it out with logic, physics and even continuity the more you're just gonna hurt your brain. It was likely never meant to be any sort of sign of continuity, it's just there to be funny.

Wasn't he affected by that love potion?

That clearly played a role here, given that a stove and a house have a huge difference in weight, obviously, and that a stove is still heavy for anyone (pony?) :D

His mindset was greatly affected by that potion, and it clearly gave him the ability to be like "whatever" with that house :D He wanted to get back to his girl, yo.

Oh, and that was a CMC episode :D They're never too great, even if I do like the CMCs in general :D

Normally he would be tired after a long day of hard work, so Big Mac would have already been worn down and tired when lifting the stove. In Hearts and Hooves Day, he wasn't working, so we got to see him use his full strength.

A person can lift as much as his or her maximum load over his or her head.

A person can lift as much as double his or her maximum load off the ground, but he or she can only stagger around with it.

A person can generally push or drag along the ground as much as five times his or her maximum load.

I think this can be summed up quite well in 7 words: "It's a cartoon.  Don't think too hard."

maybe he wasn't sweating from effort, maybe he was sweating because he was trying to make a good first impression, anyone ever think of that?

I doubt there was a good impression to be made done he and Cheerilee were both under the influence of love poison.

i meant when he was lifting the stove, demonstrating to pinkie pie why he's the strong one in the family. he wanted to make sure he made a good impression so he was nervous and thus sweating

Ah, sorry, I got a few things out of context.  (Also, I hate my smartphone's auto-correct when I'm trying to respond to forum topics - "good impression to be made done he?"  That was supposed to be "SINCE he".)

Big Mac's strength is a massive failure of continuity. One day he's straining himself to carry a cake and the next, he's moving tons of stuff. He probably has a lot of inner strength but that doesn't explain why he struggles to carry relatively light things unless he has a problem showing off his strength.
