Yea/Nay: One of the FIM comic book writers writes an episode?

The comics are good and I would like to see one do an episode. One focused on Princess Luna since she's underutilized in the FIM series and is very good in the comics.

Hmmm.... I've never really thought of this topic before, you do bring up a very interesting point. I say yay, and go for it. I mean, we don't have much to lose and I too find the comics to be very enjoyable (maybe even better than the show to a certain extent  ).

 

I love how the comics explore characters that usually don't get enough screen time, and by characters i'm mainly referring to Princess Celestia and Luna. Seriously writers, an episode focused soley on these 2 has been long overdue now. I don't think it would be too hard to write a simple slice of life episode about them.

I'd love it, as the jokes are far more higher age (cider = hard cider in the comics.. drunk ponies ftw! ) grouped and well done. BUT.. they rely very heavily on inside jokes and pop culture references.

TBH theres already a lot of whining about the "excessive" references being made as is

Even though, unlike in the comics at times, the show doesn't place them right in your face.

 

Loved the final issues of the main comics.

Lord of the rings, 28 days later, Star Trek, and Dial "M" for Murder" all within a few pages of one another

 

Also, Comics Luna/Celestia have won my heart. I like them in the show, but they are just AWESOME in the comics Especially Luna.

She has more personality in the comics.. She's just so underused, and underdeveloped in the show

I would like to see Celestia doing something useful, but I can live with just Luna making another appearance.

I will give my left kidney for that comic.

 

Anyway, it would depend on the writer.  Katie Cook, Heather Nuhfer, Jeremy Whitley, and Ted Anderson are all fully qualified.  Alex DeCampi, Barbara Randall Kesel, and Ryan K. Lindsay on the other hand, are not.  Thankfully, IDW seems to know this and didn't let them write more than one comic each.

I dunno...I think it's too late for much of it, and the comics were written with older fans in mind. There's a bunch of stuff Hasbro would shoot down the moment someone bought it up.

I don't really care who does it. I think that all of them have done excellent jobs on the comics. And I would like to see something about the Princesses, and with the presence of the Mane Six. Even the CMC might be welcome.

Couldn't agree more.

The only episode this season where I feel that Spike has been well used was in Simple Ways, and I don't even remember him much from the comics.

Well, he isn't frequently used for "unnecessary" comic relief in the comics. And his micro issue was kinda cute. Overall, he's more his sometimes snarky, yet overall caring self in the comics, I'd say.

I'd love to see Katie Cook write a two-parter. From what we've seen she could easily do an adventure or a slice of life episode, but A season finale by her has potential to be amazing.

 

Also, I cheated in the poll by voting for everyone. The best comics feature them all, and I like comic Celestia, Luna, and Spike more than their show counterparts to be honest.

I think it would be awesome to see one of the comic writers write an episode, especially if it was something to do with Nightmare Rarity, oh my goodness that comic arc was amazing! ^^

 

The comic writers seem to have a more open mind and take bigger jumps than the show writers do, so I think it would be interesting to see! ^^
