What's a videogame you didn't think you would like, but ended up loving?

World of Warcraft.  All my friends started playing it, so I did, and then I got addicted.  Then Blizzard made it their mission to slowly beat the game to death while I looked on in horror.

So my initial impression ended up being right.  Eventually.

Fire Emblem: Awakening. I usually don't play turn based rpgs, but my friend begged me to buy the game and try it. Wowee, I've replayed that game six times or more. It's become one of my favorite games.

I initially didn't find interest in Lost Planet 2. However, after the cover art haunted me for so long, i finally gave in and bought it. I'm glad i did, as it turned out to be one of the most fun sci-fi 3PSs i have ever played.

I also didn't find any interest in the Ninja Gaiden series before. Mostly due to the infamous difficulty. However, after playing Ninja Gaiden Black on Ninja Dog difficulty... let's just say i'm currently saving up for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. :)

If you boiled down the worst tropes of Kingdom Hearts, you'd end-up with Musashi: Samurai Legend; maybe that's not so bad. Granted it's very lacking in the story department but the gameplay sure does makeup for that.

For me, it was Kingdom Hearts.  I got into it when KH2 came out and as of now, i moved away from it b/c it went downhill in terms of too "childish".

Skyrim.

Didn't think I would like it,because of there being no guns. I love Fallout 3 and NV.

Ever since installing it, I've been playing it pretty much everyday.

I've even named my custom enchanted weapons. 2 are based off of Flutter's lullaby "Hush now Quiet now" I have an Elven mace and war axe and I've named them each "Hush Now" and the other one "Quiet Now" they each have a shock and fie effect. Another Elven Mace I have I named "The Stare" which does frost damage. and another Elven Mace  I named "Rainbow Factory" which steals the enemies soul upon death, and fills one of my empty soul gems.

I've also got a pair of enchanted steel plated armoured boots, that' I've called "Applejack's Fireproof Boots" as they give me 18% of fire resistance. same with a ring I made that I named "Dragonshy"

haha that's amazing xD

I haven't played Skyrim yet, so I didn't even know you could name the different weapons. Probably makes the game feel a lot more personal that way.

Yea when you go to "enchant" an Item or weapon,it'll give you the option to rename it to whatever you want. I thought it was pretty cool.

I found a "Lunar mace"and I'm going to destroy it to learn the enchantment, and I'll be naming it "Luna's Revenge" or something of the sort. as the effect of it only works when the moons are out.

-Minecraft- I thought it looked stupid, boring, and weird. I did not like how everything was cube shaped. Then one day, my boyfriend basically made me play it and I fell in love. I felt so BAD for thinking it looked stupid and boring. I cannot stop playing it...

-Super Paper Mario- It was not like the first 2. I did not like that everything was pixelated and how Mario could switch from 2D to 3D. I then bought it and tried it out, and it became one of my FAVORITES.

-The Legend of Spyro series- Since its NOTHING like the older Spyros, I judged it. I then played the first game, and then the second, and then the third and frankly fell in love. No, I still dislike the fact its not like old Spyro, but I found it fun.

Pretty much all the games I love to play now I didn't expect to like previously and I didn't at first. Also known as Team Fortress 2, The Witcher 2, and Dark Souls.

Bioshock, I thought it would be another overhyped shooter, then I played it and it became one of my favorite games of the generation

I kinda thought that as well, but then I played and went all "Holy Crap" and I played it so many times.

  • 2 weeks later...

'Twas Arma 2 for me.

I was actually interested in giving it a shot since around mid 2012, however I figured it would be far too complicated for my brain to comprehend, so I never bothered, thinking I wouldn't enjoy it.

Until one day I found out about DayZ later that year, which required A2, so I decided to try it, and loved it. Then I started messing around with the vanilla game, and while it was kinda cool, it still seemed a bit difficult for me, so I stopped playing for a while.

I can't remember how I found it, probably through a DayZ video, but a couple months later in January 2013, I watched a video of the game by a guy named CHKilroy, and it really interested me, so I watched more and more until I was eventually inspired to create my own missions and scenarios. Boom, favourite game of the year. :D

Now if you'll excuse me, I feel like playing some Arma 3.

I usually like a game as much as I think I will. I'm a very good judge of quality in video games.

There have been a couple games I didn't expect much from but learned to love. Treasure Adventure Game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Scurge: Hive being the main ones I can remember.

Pokémon, because I thought it would be some "stupid boy's game". Ha... haha... hahaha... hahahahaha WHAT?! O.O

LOL, I now love it... and am so glad I do. XD

Oh, and Ratchet and Clank. I thought "hm, this might be cool because it was made by Spyro's developers (the games that I grew up with and will always treasure), but didn't think I would like it as much as I do. XD I'm playing 'em right now haha. :)

Mine's different....Wii Sports. I got it with packaged my Wii and didn't think much of it, but eventually tried it out after I burned through my other games, and ended up enjoying it!

Heck yes! When I got my Wii back in 2007, I fully expected Wii Sports to be the type of game that you play for maybe an hour, and then forget about it completely. But d*mn, I loved the h*ll out of it. Every day after school I would come home eager to start up the Boxing game, or a round of baseball. I also liked the fact that it had experience points too, so it was sort of like a very lite rpg in a sense. Sure, it wasn't the most complex game, but it was just so d*mn enjoyable!

The only one that really comes to mind, is CoD(Black Ops upwards). Prior to that, I couldn't stand the series. I only checked it out because I was with my brother who just bought BO2. They're a lot more entertaining than people give credit for. Sometimes it's nice to just play a mindless FPS.

I like it because trolling is so effortless. You're either going to get kids in the lobby, adults who feel like they've got something to prove, or teenagers who won't shut up about their K/D ratio. You can mess with em' and have a pretty good time. Not in a super jerky kind of way, but you know, just saying silly things and hearing how they react to it.

Of course. You're more likely to experience a perfect day, than you are to find a relaxed CoD lobby. Sometimes I go in just to hear what life issues the latest twelve year old is having to deal with that day.
