I think it's just that his deep voice makes it seem that way at times.

He barely says anything as well, I would tend to say no, but It would be nice for him to have a lot more to say so we could really get a feel for it :)!

Alright first, applebloom's voice is way more accented.

And second, it does seem too accented during filli vanilli.

But yeah it's probably just microphone issues or something like that.

No, I think the his deep voice combined with the fact that he dosen't have very many speaking roles just makes it more noticeable. I think Granny Smith has the thickest accent myself and also uses the most amount of lingo if you know what I mean.

Granny Smith does use the most clichés and stereotypical southern colloquialisms in her speech, but I think all of the Apples sound like they have the same amount of that accent going on. Applejack may have it a bit lighter, but not by much, imo.

Granny Smith probably has the accurate Southern accent down, while the other apples sound the same but not as much. All of them sound the same to me.

Which southern accent is the question.

We got a lot of variations. I'm from East Texas, so our accent ain't as thick as someone from South Texas, or Alabama.

Oh a Texas accent, from South Texas. That's what I think their accent is similar to.

I think so too, but I never did have a good ear at distinguishing the finer details of an accent. It really does vary from region to region. I don't recall anyone ever using "tarnation" before though.

That's straight up Yosemite Sam.

I'll just leave it at the fact that the VAs are all in Vancouver and probably never lived a day in the South, or the US for that matter (except maybe Tabitha). Even as a New Yorker, I'm an avid NASCAR fan and through my binge-watching on all things stock car racing, I've picked up on the different accents from central Virginia to deep Georgia.

What I can say is that Apple Bloom's accent is the most exaggerated, being that Michelle Creber is the youngest and likely least-experienced VA of the group (The same can be said about Bryanna Drummond, in her first known voice acting role as Babs Seed, she sounded like an out-of-towner trying desperately to fit in with the R train crowd). Applejack's is more subdued but not by too much. Granny Smith's is least pronounced, and Big Mac sounds like a young Hank Hill when they do allow him to open his mouth. I think they were just told to do a Southern accent and they probably just did what they had seen on TV. If MLP's staff wanted pitch-perfect Southern accents, they would've held open casting calls from Missouri to the Carolinas, and I think they had more important things on the show to focus on than that.

Whether or not you think they sound like Texans or Carolinians doesn't matter to me, I just think they're from Vancouver. ;)

I can't really tell, the Ponyville part of the Apple family have southern American accents to me.

But Babs and the Manehattan have Bostonian accents.

They all have different regional US accents. Granny also uses words that originated in Kentucky and popularized during westward expansion. There is some Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, and Missouri ... which is really interesting if you want to read into it.

Accents in children also can sound emphasized, which makes sense in Appleblooms case. Granny having a different accent than the other Apples makes even more sense because she came from somewhere else in Equestria. I think Her children and grandchildren would start to sound

different merging familial accents with others.

Did Granny's parents talk in that flashback episode? I wonder.

Or the voice actors just aren't consistently able to match one accent ;)

 Carolinas

yer damn right

I dunno. I think that the difference in age makes them all sound different, though Applebloom and Applejack seem to have about the same. It could also just be pitch. So no, i think they all have the same but its changed by stuff like pitch and age and such.

I only love you platonically.

This is a really interesting topic actually. :)

I am not sure if Big Mac has a thicker accent than Granny or his sisters. He just has a deeper voice if anything. I think that the Apples have very similar accents, and the way they pronounce words is about the same as far as I can tell. They do tend to use different colloquialisms in their speech though, with Applejack being a frequent user of the oh-so cliched "yeehaw!" Granny Smith likes phrases like "hot diggity!" or "darn tootin'!" Apple Bloom seems to use the least amount of expressions save for the silent Big Mac.

A fun fact is that Ashleigh Ball has stated that she drew inspiration from Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton for Applejack's voice, and what is interesting to note is that both Parton and Cyrus hail from Tennessee. ;)
