As the title says, did you know that Hasbro was a toy company when you first started to watch MLP?

I didn't know myself, I learned that when I had watched all the episodes and wanted to know more about the company.

I actually had no clue that MLP (and Habsro) were anything more than a toy line when I discovered the show, actually.

Don't mean to be rude, but it's pretty obvious isn't it? You've never played with toys before?

Yeah, I've known about them for as long as I can remember.

Useless information: Hasbro was founded in 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island and was called "Hassenfield Brothers". They originally were  a textiles company but went through a number of transitions to become a toy company. Over the years they've bought out a lot of other companies, including Wizards of the Coast. So if you play Dungeons and Dragons or Magic: the Gathering and watch My Little Pony, Hasbro basically owns you.

No Hasbro was originally a school supply company formally called Hassenfeld Brothers. Yes, I did know that Hasbro sold toys and board games before watching the show. When I clicked on this thread I did a big facepalm, I thought people knew that already. :P

BTW recently watched a movie "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra", and I was very surprised to see Hasbro's name in the opening credits. Perhaps because I never played G.I. Joe toys during my childhood (it appeared lame to me). I preferred dinos ;) (classic jurassic ;)). The movie was lame too, BTW. I'll rather stick with ponies for a while...

Yes, I've known my entire life. What I didn't know before FiM was that they were mostly responsible for the Hub

How on Earth did you not know that. Seriously I'm sorry if I'm coming off as rude but please explain how you didn't know this. Do you not go through toy sections in stores? How? I'm honestly really confused as to how op didn't know something nearly everyone knows and is considered common knowledge.

[Nighmare Moon]: "You're kidding, right?"

Yep. I cost my parents a fortune back in the 80's. Hasbro was dominant in my bedroom.  I'm going to count my sister's stuff on this list too since we were close in age.

Transformers

GI JOE

M.A.S.K (anyone besides me old enough to remember this toy line)

Pound Puppies

My Little Pony

Inhumanoids

Jem

Lite Brite

Battle Beasts (serious Kudos if you remember these rock/paper/scissors style figures)

Those items were all over my house along with Kenner's Star Wars line ... and Mattel's Master of the Universe. I will say that I thought that Hasbro made Teddy Ruxpin, but I was wrong there.

I knew that first and foremost.

I also knew that MLP:FiM was originally created to promote their toy line, which worked out magnificently if I say so myself.

"Time is just an illusionary factoid that all natural things are bound to. It has the power to crumble even the mightiest of mountains into little more than dust, yet if it is an illusion, why is this so? Because people waste a lot of time, only wishing they had more. Little do people realize an inescapable fact: Time governs those who wish they had more of it. By wishing you could use it better, you govern time, and you can get all the time you'll ever need." — Starfall, Quillwaver

I've known Hasbro was a toy company since I was kid. Transformers, Beyblade, Zoids, the list goes on of franchises they produced that I begged my parents to buy me.
