gaming Pokémon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

My reaction: "Well, I guess I'll have to buy another Pokemon game."  I was excited about - and enjoyed - Pokemon Y, but I didn't keep playing for hours and hours post-completion like I did with past games.  And I didn't feel compelled to even complete HeartGold (they SEDUCED me with the inclusion of that little pedometer / digital pet thingie lol).  I have somewhat fond memories of Ruby, though, so maybe I'll get more out of it than I did HG.  Really I'm fonder of Pokemon spin-offs (particularly Pokemon Mystery Dungeon) than I am of the main series nowadays.

The fact that they're remaking Hoenn is no surprise to me. They already did it with Kanto and Johto. What's weird is that I can remember R/S coming out. I was 11 or 12 at the time. I threw in the towel with Pokemon long ago. I simply got bored with it. But it'll always have a special place in my nostalgic heart :)

when did they remake the Kano region games? I must get them since that's my favourite region out of them all.

FireRed and LeafGreen versions. I still have mine :D

They were awesome since it was the first time you could have a pokemon battle with a wireless connection to the other GBA :D

That sucks. I think I just had too many hours in that game and quit playing it haha I think it was 300+. anyway I moved all my good pokemon over to my black version. It was after I beat the story in Black that I just got burnt out with Pokemon. So I sold it. I don't have any of the pokemon I used to have.

As long as they revamp Battle Frontier and the secret bases into these two games(I know, these features were Emerald exclusive, feel free to correct anything if I'm wrong), this will literally be one of the more solid remakes. I also personally liked the Hoenn region despite playing first in Kanto.

yeah, do you mean you like the original 150 but they don't really thrive in black, in fact I don't think any of them are in that game.

The first generation (including fire red) are the best ones in my opinion.

I really don't see the point or the need to remake Gen 3 at all, other then drilling more cash.

"But they remade Gen 1 and 2!@!(^!%^@!)!@"

Yes, but those NEEDED remade, BADLY. There was no trade compatability from Gen 2 to 3, so everything in 1 and 2 stayed in 1 and 2. Hence why Gen 1 and 2 got remakes.

As is, if you want a gen3 exclusive, you have to catch it on RSE, pal park it to DPP or HGSS (which only transfers 6 at a time and has an annoying mini game), transfer from DPP/HGSS to BW/BW2 (also 6 at a time with an even more annoying minigame), then transfer it to pokebank (which costs $5 a year to use. Not expensive by any means, but annoying), then transfer it to XY.

I loved the original games and the first 151 pokemon but I liked all generations I played pretty much equally, with Generation 2 being my favorite. And yeah, the older pokemon don't do so well in modern games. I feel like, in comparison to newer pokemon, the older ones are underpowered. I think they did this intentionally so that you would be encouraged to use the pokemon found in the newer games. Generation 1 had some good pokemon but imo there were some terrible ones as well. I didn't care for Exeggutor, Lickitung, or Electrode (despite Electrode being very fast). Regardless of intent, I wish they would have kept the game more balanced.

I am SO SO excited about this! Gen 3 was my favorite generation of pokemon, and now it's finally getting it's remake. I was getting the impression they wouldn't do a remake since they skipped it in gen 5. I really hope they at least change the answers to the Regi puzzle, because I still remember the answer to it.

Also, it mentioned a "Whole new region" to explore. What I'm wondering is if it's going to include something like the Sevii isles from fire red and leaf green. That'd be interesting, especially in 3d.

TLDR version:

Gen 2 is best gen

Some Gen 1 pokemon were fail

Many Gen 1 pokemon aren't very good anymore and I wish the game was balanced

Better?

yes, better. i didnt really like any of the gen 2 (thats ruby right?) pokemon, but i love all of the gen 1 pokemon. maybe its because i grew up on gen 1, watching my brother always play it (along with metroid) has given me some of the best memories of my life. so gen 1 has more of a deeper connection with me.

Gen 2 was Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Ruby and Sapphire are the ones being remade that's the topic of this thread lol And I grew up on my Pokemon Blue. I loved that game to pieces. But there were glitches galore and the game was essentially broken. Gen 2 fixed pretty much everything that was wrong with those games and added awesome things like Umbreon, day/night cycle, hold items, etc.

Its species is Fairy. In the same way that Rhydon is the Drill Pokemon. They've always been fairies. If you couldn't, and still can't see them as fairies, then I can only suggest that your perception needs re-calibration. I didn't mention anything about egg groups.

(who da 'ell is Carl)

as i said, my bad for over looking the species. I never remembered it cause i don't care enough about that pokemon to do so.

And i mentioned egg group cause it was previously the only piece of it that was labeled fairy that i saw at the time.

Even still, it does not give off vibes or anything of what a basic, generic fairy would to me. Ive never heard of a vicious fairy, especially one that looks as if it wants to maul my face off just cause i looked at it wrong. Last I checked, fairies were sweet and whatnot.

(And das was just me being silly.)

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I actually agree with Aged Rain. If they actually did have a fairy type when the game started, they probably would have been fairy types anyway.

Starting the games with them back in 2nd gen would have been fine with me. Hell, id probably actually like them then. Its Just the fact that they waited till now to bring them in. Doing so makes it seem like they just wanted to bring dragons down from their throne which is a bad reason imo. Like they just wanted any reason to bring them in or something.

Basically, how they went about adding them just doesnt sit right with me.

True, just a highly inconvenient option that requires you to have a minimum of 4 games over 2 devices.

Anyway, I don't even own any gen3 anymore, so this is a day one buy for me.

Oh, and also, hoenn is the last region to not be on a DS system or be in a post-gen4 game, with the mechanical changes and such.

Fairy.

A redcap and a version of the nix.

It made things a bit too much like Digimon

Nonono, I mean the fact that the fairy type is super effective against dragons. When's the last time you've seen a dragon lose to a fairy? It's stupid. And many dragons had dual typing anyway that added weaknesses(ice and rock come to mind)

Dragons losing to Fairies aren't rare, and fairies of different kinds tend to be the top dogs in mythologies where both exist- In swedish mythology, nobody messes with the Nix, not even dragons- in fact, the gods themselves rather don't deal with him.

The Swedish Nix looks like this:

@@RWB,

I believe those are "faeries" not "fairies". There's a difference. Fairies are more like sprites
