Holy crap, this episode was kickass!  :yay:

 

This is my favourite 2-parter to date. This was literally the most amazing thing ever! (Well, Pinkie Pride is still my favourite episode)

 

Seriously though, this episode was filled to the brim with awesomeness.  :wub:

I don't have any problems at all with this episode. Not even the Rainbow Power. I actually really like the designs  B) haters gonna hate B)

 

Both of the songs were wonderful. The harmonious sound of Celestia, Luna and Cadence sends still sends shivers down my spine, and Let the Rainbow Remind You was a great song to end the episode on.

 

And how could I not talk about the most intense scene of the whole goddamn show? My money's on Meghan McCarthy being a DBZ fan, with stuff like that going into episode! Show for little girls my flank!  :D

Okay, so we know Celestia believes in learning by doing. It's also reasonable to conclude she knew very well what the main six needed to do to open the chest, so she knew that Twilight would have to spread friendship to another in order to get her key. Since Twilight is meant to be the princess of friendship- or, rather, since that was Celestia's intention though she never stated it outright, Celestia wanted Twilight to learn that for herself by attaining her key. Celestia didn't know specifically how it would happen (and she was probably quite surprised by how exactly it turned out to happen), she just knew it would happen eventually. That is why she refrained for giving Twilight significant responsibilities. It was all her plan for Twilight to grow into her role by doing rather than being told what to do.

 

It took me a while to get that. I'm still stewing over what I thought of the episode as a whole however.

Boy am I late to this party. I really wish I was here to see it for the first time with all of you, and gush over it with you, but personal lives can be a bitch sometimes. Anyway...

 

These two episodes were amazing. They may just be my new favorite episodes, but I'm going to let the pony high I'm on come down a bit before I decide for sure.

 

There was so much to love about them. Discord was there, and that of course brought great humor to the episode. Tirek was a fearsome villain, and steals the top villain status from his sidekick. His introduction is the scariest intro a villain has gotten in FiM, and he only gets more terrifying as he gains power.

 

And I can't gush over the episode properly without the best scene of all: the fight between Tirek and Twilight. People abuse epic all the time, and I'm guilty of it myself, but that fight deserves to be called epic.

 

The only thing I wish we got was another fight once the mane 6 got the rainbow powers. The climaxes in FiM tend to be too rushed, and this one was too. It's not enough to ruin the episodes at all, though.

 

I'd love to write more extensively about the episodes later. There were a lot of great points in it, and I can't even think of them all right now.

did anyone else feel that the betrayal of Discord was predictable and copied from fan works? you have Tirek bieng summoned and Discord betraying the mane six to destroy ponyville in pony.mov by hotdiggedydemon, and you have Discord betraying in a few of the more popular fimfics (5score/4, background pony) just overall to me it feels like this episode was influenced heavily by fan works.

and somewhere I recall seeing super saiyan ponies from before s4.

is this just me drawing invisible lines, or do I have a legitimate point?

I don't think they copied any fan work.

But Discord's betrayal was predictable, and actually makes a lot of sense because he wasn't completely reformed.

IT whas a awesome finale of season 4. But when the fight with tirek and twilight happend, i getted the idea it looked a little bit on the fight on avatar the last airbender the last fight. But further on

Your post is old, so i dunno if anyone else mentioned this,

but Kazumi Evans was singing, not Tabitha.

 

 

Ashleigh Ball is the only mane six VA who regularly sings for her ponies, being a professional singer herself.

One of the rare exceptions to this is when Andrea Libman sang for Pinkie in "the goof-off",

as opposed to the usual singer Shannon Chan Kent.

 

Kazumi Evans is the one who sings for Rarity,

so they figured it would make sense to use the same singer for the character who has the same voice actress.

I really didn't like how Twilight became a super alicorn!!! That made me so mad!!

 

Why? The plan wasn't 100% sound in logic, but the result was cool.

 

Wasn't it neat to see her trying to control the moon/sun? Wasn't the accidental teleportation funny?

Wasn't the fight scene epic? I certainly think so, which is why comments like yours confuse me XD

RD's hair gets spikey, and she becomes more powerful. Twilight and Tirek got into an energy clash. Remind you of anything?

I HATED THIS EPISODE!!!!!!! I thought Twi would be the Princess of Stars NOT Friendship. At least there was a Luna/Celestia/Cadence song. They'd really needed to do that for the entire show.

all her lessons were about friendship in fact the entire show is about the magic of friendship add to that that twilight was studying the magic of friendship. how can anyone possibly get princess of stars?

Question! Was Tirek the pony of shadows? cause they have yellow eyes and they where using a cape

We don't know, some say yes. I, for one, think it's 2 different characters, their eyes are different.

And what would Tirek do in the old castle of the 2 sisters?

Tirek's Returns there hmm i got questions from these episodes though
What happened to Zecora and Daring Do Tirek haven't found them yet and other ponies (etc srry im a little derp minded) if they haven't been founded yet then that means Tirek wasn't full power after all he got lose from twilight because of that
