Satanic Messages in Twilight's Kingdom

As a Christian myself, I don't believe that this was done on purpose. I'm pretty sure it was just an incidental type thing. LOL, with this type of philosophy ANYTHING that adds up to 666 or whatever is evil! If you get what I'm trying to say here. It's nothing to worry about... no need to overanalyze everything. ;) (because, heck, there are/were tons of people who think/thought Pokémon was evil! Like c'mon, are you kidding me?!)

True people are quite funny with the things that the find "evil."  I've worked as a cashier before and always had a hard time not laughing when someone's total is $6.66... 9 times out of 10 the totally FTFO and start looking for something; anything to add to their bill so they can get a different total.... So funny

I think Tirek was definitely meant to evoke the image of a Satanic figure. Although I think that has more to do with his origins than any conscious decision by DHX. Tirek originated in the 80's where a lot of villains drew much from internal archetypes. Look at Skeletor, Cobra Commander, Mumm-Ra.

His inclusion by DHX I think was more an attempt to capitalize on the opportunity to reintroduce and revitalize a forgotten icon, very similar with what they've done with this whole franchise. Now one can't deny that Tirek is by far the most threatening and arguably the biggest threat Equestria has yet faced, and definitely retains the undertones of temptation, and consuming "souls." But again, I think "Satanic" elements are more due to the elements of adapting a deliberately devilish character, rather than the direct intention of the creators.

Well i thought only Lauren Faust knew of the past characters. Does Meghan know as well and does Firefly count?

Also. If he absorbs magic. Does that mean he is more immortal than Giygas? Is prayer magic?

And finally. I think G4 Tirek is an Expy of Jaguarandi from Virtual On Cyber Troopers. They both can change their size.

Uhhh... Do you think there's something preventing Meghan from looking stuff up? It's not particularly *hard* to go watch the first MLP cartoon. It's not like you have to perform some insane task like cutting down the largest tree in the forest with a herring or anything.

And if you're in charge, it's probably worth the couple of hours to go back and watch previous incarnations of what you are in charge of. I mean, I've watched all the episodes from all previous generations, even the live-action ones and the webcasts. I even put the results in a blog here on the site. (I'm a bit behind on the current season, because other things are keeping me from spending time on writing my notes up, but still.)

my mom is one of those people who think they are evil! like seriously?  but anyway satan looks nothing like tirek because the bible says he was the most good looking angel in heaven, then he tried to take over heaven from GOD and God slapped him down to hell forever

On that note, do you know of any way to watch all the previous seasons with some level of consistency? I've been meaning to watch past stuff on Youtube but found only a few things. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. :derp:

Wow! What a deluded individual; Basically thinks Wicca and Satanism are the same thing... Oh yes, and by his philosophy, I'm a Satanist because I'm gay.

Wow! Either his whole goal is to upset people, or he's on seriously bleeped up individual.

I wouldn't mind paying for them as long as there's a way to watch them. I just wanna see them.

As long as it's not VHS. I don't have a VCR anymore.

What did you expect? People find this in everything. Pokemon is satanic too, since you are dominating demons and fighting gods

Not consistently, unfortunately. I had to jump around a lot from YouTube to DailyMotion, each with a variety of accounts. I was going to include links in my blog entries, but the videos were vanishing often enough that maintaining that list was going to be a pain.

What it really needs is a site like http://www.club-mst3k.com/, with a sorta wiki-like interface that anyone interested could maintain it. (Providing of course we're dealing with stuff old enough that Hasbro doesn't mind.)

I may be a bit...uncouth for quoting Nietzsche in a thread like this but; "And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."

Look, everyone in the end will have to make up their own mind on any such potential connection. I disagree with the possibility but the reason I put that quote there is to get you to think. Sometimes our mind tricks us into seeing something that may or may not be there because its trying to help us see something somewhere else we currently can't.

I'm not sure whether I'm more offended as a brony or practicing Catholic by this!

It's like the creator of that video is under some delusion that any pre-Christ religion, or any non-Christian religion for that matter, is by it's nature evil.

As one who does practice this Faith, I can tell you, I've found more closer symbolism to God the Father in Celestia. I mean look at how She acts upon the world. Through Her subjects! Just as God acts through people!

Relating Applejack to the Forbidden Fruit? How low can you get?! She's the Element of Honesty! If anyone was acting in that capacity, it was Discord, using the image of the apple to reveal knowledge to her in the Canterlot gardens.

Of course, the moment the video brought up the Freemasons, a club for free thinking. And the Illuminati, indeed a conspiracy but one that died centuries no matter what people try to convince you otherwise. Is the moment I stopped taking it seriously.

I mean look at AntonyC's Youtube videos and he can give you a full theological run down!

It could just be a pun...or maybe it's a coincidence...

Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want!

Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron.

So after a little research, I find I like the number 6.

Numerologicaly speaking, 6 seems to be considered the most harmonious single digit number according to what I've found on most numerology sites.

666 triples this impact.

However, according to some of these sites, when a number is tripled, it's a sign of transgression, when the qualities of the number have been taken too far.

Of course, numerology is not exactly science, and subject to wiggle room interpretation.

666 can be reduced to 9.

6+6+6= 18

1+8 = 9

Found out some interesting characteristics about the number 9, just mathematically speaking, from this page:

http://www.numerology.com/numerology-numbers/9

"When you multiply any number by 9, then add the resulting digits and reduce them to a single digit, it always becomes a 9. For example, 6 x 9 = 54, reduce 54 to a single digit by adding them together: 5 + 4 = 9. Similarly, 8 x 9 = 72, and 7 + 2 = 9. Or 23 x 9 = 207, 2 + 0 + 7 = 9, and so forth. There is nothing coincidental about this peculiarity. Try it. Any number, no matter how large, multiplied by 9 reduces to 9. From a numerological perspective, the 9 simply takes over, like the infamous body snatchers. Any number that was initially increased by a factor of 9 loses its own identity and instead takes on the characteristics of the 9. No other number has that quality.

A different, but no less distinctive and revealing, attribute of the 9 is that when you add (as opposed to multiply) it to any other number, then reduce that number to a single digit, it always comes back to itself, as if nothing was added at all. For example, 5 + 9 = 14, 1 + 4 = 5. Or 7 + 9 = 16, 1 + 6 = 7. 24 (which reduces to 6) + 9 = 33, 3 + 3 = 6. Again, have some fun, try it on a bunch of numbers.

This, from a numerological perspective, is actually the exact opposite of what happens when you use the 9 to multiply, because when adding it, increasing the amount by 9, it does not change anything to its initial single digit value. When multiplying, the 9 takes over ... when adding, the 9 does nothing. For a math junkie like myself, with a philosophical streak to match, this is pure beauty. It symbolically touches at the core of the magic that underlies this creation. But enough about math, let's look at the personality of this unique number.

The last of the cardinal numbers, the 9 is the most worldly and sophisticated of all numbers. The 9 has some similarities with the 6. However, whereas the 6 as a symbol of motherly (or fatherly) love, giving its love and care to friends, family and the immediate community, the 9 offers it to the world at large; the 9, more than any other number, has global consciousness. Looking at the shape of the symbol is, as always, quite telling. The 9 is like the 6 upside down, a symbol of her offering sympathy and compassion to everyone; a reservoir of giving with a generous downward spout.

The 9 lives in the world and understands the connections between all of mankind. It is a humanitarian, and sees no real difference between its neighbor next door and the person living in a very different culture and environment on the other side of the world. The 9 is the least judgmental of all numbers, the most tolerant and the most conscious."

That...is really cool.

Also it's interesting to note that Carbon has 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons. Carbon is the basis of all organic life.

Carbon has 4 electrons in one shell and 2 in another. This kinda synchronizes with my head canon I did in my first blog post about the elements.

I made a distinction between the 4 core elements (honesty, kindness, generosity, loyalty) and the other two.

4 and 2.

:yay:  It means nothing, but that just tickles me pink!

Did anyone hear me say that he was an Expy of Jaguarandi from Virtual On?

...Either you're speaking in some kind of weird dialect of Pig-Latin, or I just have no clue what you're talking about.

omg gais so I spent the time to look for unintentional references to Satan, which by there being the number 6 three times, that must mean that Satan and religion are closely tied, and therefore illuminati are actually writing MLP.

First off, the number 666, as referenced in the bible, is titled/referenced as 'the number of the beast', but the question is who is 'the beast'. Well, the bible was written in Hebrew. Hebrew's alphabet has its letters with numerical values, and the name 'Julius Caesar', written in Hebrew, has the numerical value of 666, thus ending the question.

Second, looking for subliminal messages in cartoons was fun back in '08, but you have to understand all of this is purely coincidental. It's like playing kid's cartoon's intros backwards and linking the gibberish to satanic chants.

Yes, and it seemed a rather nonsensical statement, so I was ignoring it until you brought it up again.

Changing size is a trope that goes *all* the way back. The earliest reference I'm aware of is in Celtic mythology, where several of the characters tended to reveal their Formorian heritage by literally becoming giants. Cai, the Welsh character that eventually became Sir Kay of the Arthurian mythos was prone to this, and was known to occasionally grow as tall as the tallest tree in the forest whenever he didn't concentrate on being 'human-sized'.
