She's more well made than her sister, Celestia. After fighting alongside her with Discord, Sombra, elements, it'd be very hard emotionally to take her sister's banishment to the moon. Meanwhile I think Luna has been on the moon for that time, but seems to have been placed in "stasis" there instead of actually being active on the moon. Took over the role of raising the sun (essential to life) and the moon (For ocean tides, non-essential to life) Honestly though I'd have to say Celestia is better. 4 "You learn a lot about people when you listen to the songs that mean something to them." Ribbonfree 2,383 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 I used to think Luna was overrated to hell and back by the fandom. I'm more on her side now, but between the Royal Sisters I still prefer Celestia. I feel that Celestia is exactly what she needs to be for the story, wise, maybe no longer at the peak of her power like she was when she dealt with Sombra and Luna but still a benchmark of strength, Twilight's inspiration. We know so little about them from the show, but what got me into the show was the two princesses. Mostly because of the background that is given about them in the first episode. If they had used Nightmare Moon correctly she would be the best villain in the show and that is important because... Spoiler from the comics... I thought that Luna and Nightmare Moon where exactly the same. But I think that Celestia has little awesome moments in the show and the comics that really make me like her. Luna is great too, but I feel that the Season 4 opener has turned her into a spoiled teenager. Damn... I mean, she seems to be perpetually angry (not counting formal events like coronations) , especially at Twilight for some reason. Do they even talk outside of formal events? We don't know. Maybe she's mad because she doesn't seem to have much value compared to Celestia or Cadence and we haven't really seen her use her powers as Princess (such as making decisions) for any use. Even Twilight observed that trading event in Trade Ya. What does Luna do? Because she is pushed in the background, it's hard to like Luna more than Celestia so in my opinion, the latter is better. 1 Silver Letter!!! Celestia is a great ruler and has a lot of good qualities, but she just doesn't appeal to me as much for some reason. Luna, on the other hand/hoof, is a tragic heroine - one who has made terrible mistakes and knows it, and is still unhappy with herself despite having been forgiven by her sister and the rest of Equestria. At least that's how I see her - the imperfect and flawed one, working hard to improve herself while battling her own anxieties and guilt about the past. Celestia is the typical Regal ruler and a typical older sister, Luna is trying to figure out what it means to be a princess after a 1000 year imprisonment. Which is why we haven't seen her after the Halloween episode. She's distant and kind of cold at first. Which is why a lot of people like her.
