gaming I want a Wii U, but there are more cons than pros.

I know some have a wii u here. It's an ambiguous system that has games I want to play

Super Smash Bros

Mario Kart 8

Mario 3D World

New Super Luigi

Star Fox(if it even happens)

I want to get the first two games on the list since I am a Mario Kart beast, a legend, cannot be stopped. Same with Smash, but I am not that good in comparison to Mario Kart.

The Wii U is just garbage as hardware. I can get passed graphics. I'm talking about the lack of passable storage space, I mean who will pay $300 for 32GB of storage? :eww:  Also why don't we have an Ethernet port? We is the controller awkward(the pro pad has the two analog sticks on top. This system just has to much problems. Also my veteran status on Smash is over since the gamecube controller is gone. Same with Mario Kart, which I have been loyal to. Nintendo in Mario Kart Wii and 7 punished players for being skillful. In Mario Kart 64 and even Double Dash. You can dodge the blue shell if you had some intuition. In the newer games you will get stomped. My friends told me in Mario Kart 8 the blue shell can be stopped with some critical thinking. I hope he's right.

So again...I want the system. It's too expensive and the PS4 is $100 more with better features and will have more games.

I will eventually be getting a Wii U. But I'm mostly waiting for a new Zelda game. And not the Zelda Dynasty warriors clone that's coming out.

You could always try eBay. If not, you can get a refurbished console from Nintendo for $200. https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/us/po/browse/productDetailColorSizePicker.jsp?categoryNav=true&navAction=jump&navCount=0&atg.multisite.remap=false&productId=prod150200&categoryId=cat140077

Or just wait for it to get cheaper.

Like, don't underestimate my power man.

Just get an external hard drive. Nowadays they can be pretty cheap and most people are usually expected to have one

Also why don't we have an Ethernet port?

Probably because most people nowadays go wireless. Not a justified excuse though

We is the controller awkward(the pro pad has the two analog sticks on top

The gamepad is actually pretty confortable, haven't tried the pro-controller

Talked about a few of problems you mentioned

I think the Wii U is pretty underrated so far, as it probably has the best library of the 3 consoles imo(though mostly because nowadays you can get 95% of 3rd party multiplats on the PC, and the PS4/Xbone don't have many great exclusives imo)

I am tired of Ratchet and Clank because after Deadlocked it got boring. The Future Trilogy is still great though. I have a PC and my card needs updating. But I only want Arkham Knight. So gaming is kind of odd for me at the moment. The Wii does have the most exclusives I want to play though.

*OBJECTION!*

Its worth the price, the graphics are better than you think, If you have wifi available, use it bitch, The pro pad is like that because its more confortable than it thinks, In MK8 you get a Super Horn , It allows you to destroy the blue shell, And i dont think the

PS4 is better.

Let me just put up a video that sums up about the cons of Wii U just like the Virtual Boy (if you have ever heard of it)

So... got any problems, troubles, conundrums, or any other sort of issues, major or minor, that I as a good friend could help you solve?

Well, you listed games you'd love to play, and with that, I don't really understand any objections to the system beyond that. Consoles are made to play games. That's all that really matters.

As for the ethernet port concern, I actually have mine hooked up by ethernet cable, using a cheap USB adapter I bought at a local store. I'm just glad it has any option in that regard, because I can't play my 3DS online at all.

I think you're focusing too much on the hardware. I picked it up for $270 a while back and thought it was worth every penny. I have no delusions of it being a powerhouse compared to the other consoles or the PC, but it's got games I actually want to play.

I don't see much point in a powerful console if there's not many games I'm going to play on it. There are more economical paperweights if that's what you're looking for.

Not saying the PS4 or One are bad, just the library needs to expand a bit before I'll plunk down cash on em.

The virtual boy is the exact opposite of the wii u.

Don't object me, object Game Theorist. And I kinda agree with their theory...

You want the system.

You've found at least 4-5 games on it (potentially more since you'd be more likely to look at other games in it's library once you actually own it)

I fail to see why you wouldn't just jump on it. If you're worried about the price point, trade crap in and/or wait for a sale. In the end whatever price you pay for it will undoubtedly be worth the hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of hours you get out of it.

With the controller, you'll get used to using it if you play with it enough. And the data storage? It's unlikely that you'll ever need more than 32GB for the types of data and games they will have available. If they needed more space, they would have made more space on the console. The price is most likely due to the bigass Wii-U Pad if nothing else.

I've played the Wii U. Its a nice console, but I would never drop $200+ dollars on it. The controller sucks, hardware sucks, and I feel that the first party games aren't enough to make up for the lesser amount of third party games.

Having that said, you seem to want the console regardless. My advice is, make a list of pros and coins for the PS4 and Wii U. Fairly simple, but effective. It just comes down to the fact that you should get the console you feel you will be happy with for a while.

Well, I'd say do not get Wii U, unless you feel the price is worth the few exclusives you want to play. Or alternatively it might be good if you have a lot of parties in your home, because that's one thing the often-awkward controls and games are really good for. But you know, if you like the controller and the... experience it offers, it might be worth it, I just know I don't enjoy it.

As far as general or traditional gaming goes tho as well as most of the big titles, you'll do much better with PS4/Xbone I would say. Also, if you wait a bit more, I think Wii U will drop in price a bit sooner rather than later, so that might be something to think about.

your paying mostly for the wiiu so if you took away the pad it would be much cheaper there pretty much giving you a wii and a tablet that connects to the wii but personally I would buy iy for the games or get a ps4 and a wiiu

I really do not like the Wii U, it's slow, some games are jerky and pretty much inferior in every way compared to other modern consoles. I think that's probably why it's not even regarded as a serious competitor in the current 'console war'.

I know there are some great games coming out for it, and if you intend to buy a lot of Ninendo's own games for it, you should probably consider buying it. Because they know how to properly make games for the system. Other games? I would stick to other consoles. I've been really disappointed with the Wii U so far.

You should try it, instead of listening to the punks that told you that BS.

Its a great console.

If you think its inferior, then you have no clue what your missing out. The Games arent as jerky as you think.

No lag when you play Super mario 3D world, Super Mario World plays Flawlessly, And Wii games run like silk!

Its worth the 300$ price tag.

The controller fits into your hand well, and the gamepad's touchscreen is responsive.

The hardware is a great piece of kit. No lag, unless if your playing a shitty game like EM2.

I think you might be wrong about thinking what I did or didn't do. :P

But this is why i said I don't enjoy it, meaning me, personally, not saying it's objectively bad, even tho the controllers are traditionally a bit odd. The fact I never really liked majority of Nintendo's games doesn't help either. As far as my opinion about consoles goes, PS4, not having many doubts there.

I agree with you, don't get me wrong. Nintendo's own games such as Super Mario 3D world run very well on the system and are great games, no question.

However the real problem I have is with the third-party games I played on the system. Batman: Arkham City comes to mind, which had noticeable lag and frameskip in cutscenes, among other issues not seen in the Xbox/PS ports. Like I said, if you're thinking of getting a Wii U to enjoy Nintendo's own games, then it's probably a good purchase for you.

There's just not very many of them for me to think a £240 price-tag was worthwhile. Third-party games are better bought and enjoyed to the fullest on another console, tbh.

If you were to get a Wii U, get one this summer. It'll allow you to get some of the better games that were released and give you time to play them before the new Smash Bros. is released this fall. Also if Nintendo announces a new Star Fox you'll already have a Wii U for the game. If it comes out on the Wii U, it could be a 3DS exclusive.

Also the only games I have on my Wii U are exclusives, Donkey Kong, Wind Waker HD, Luigi and Mario U, NintendoLand, Pikmin 3 and 3D World.

I know I have been off the topic for a bit. But I want to say thanks for the input. Here are my main gripes from buying it

Storage is lacking

The Wii Pad sucks. I also need to drop $50 on a pro controller that is an upside down Dual shock

I shouldn't need to buy a third party USB wifi adapter. Nintendo should have made a competent wifi part

$300 is too much in my situation, since I'm going to bronycon

Kingdom Hearts III is not going on the Wii U(The X1 and PS4 are not off the hook either. I'm disappointed that KH3 is not going to be on the PC.. There's no excuse)

So yes there are games I want to play. But there are third party games on the PC I can get for a dirt cheap price. Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Star Fox are the main sellers for me. The 3D Maro games and Zelda games have lost their flavor.
