gaming Favorite Sonic character!

The name pretty much explains it all. Who is your favorite character from Sonic the Hedgehog? Mine is Silver The Hedgehog! He has a cool design (btw, his hair is based on a Japanese maple leaf, not pot), he has a strong sense of justice, and I always had a thing for characters with psychokinesis. Metal Sonic and Knuckles are cool too!

I have a few but my like of a character changes on the instance:

• Tails from the games. His mechanical prowess is awesome and I'm glad they've showcased that particular aspect of him a lot in recent games.
• Sonic from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Unlike most of his iterations he's actually responsible and mature while having the comedic flair for personality. I also like him in the comics for much the same reason. Some of my favorite storylines are ones involving Sonic finding it difficult to adjust to normal society after the return of King Acorn.
• Knuckles in the Adventure games specifically. I like Knuckles in general but I loved how he wasn't so prone to naivete and violence in those games as he is in others. He stays calm and collected and just goes about doing his job as the Guardian of the Master Emerald.
• Princess Sally in the comics. The SatAM version of her is okay but is nothing compared to her depth in the comics. Never the type to leave everything to Sonic like most characters she's held a top spot on my fave character list for a looooong time.
• Antoine in SatAM Sonic. Just cuz he's utterly hilarious. I do like how in the comics he got somewhat serious after he worked through his misguided love for Sally and started to fall for Bunny.
• MacHopper in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He was funny AND as daring as Sonic. On top of all that he really knew what he was doing. He's the badass bounty hunter type of character who just gets shit done.
• Eggman. I like pretty much everything pre-Unleashed era. When they started turning him into a character for goofiness rather than devious plans of world pollution/destruction he got really terribad as a character. I loved him when he was more evil and contemplating rather than being on the wrong end of the slapstick all the time. Jim Cummings was my favorite voice actor for him. He did such a perfect Robotnik in SatAM.

Some of these may be a tad out of date, particularly the comic-related ones, as I've only read about the first hundred issues of the comics and a few scattered throughout the years.

I was never good at this game so I haven't played it all that much. I got to the Babylon race and couldn't get past it. I barely remember Wave now but I agree with purple. It's an awesome color. (Even if my favorite is white. )

Sonic is a pretty crappy character in most of the iterations. They don't handle him very well at all and he tends to be too much of a blank slate.

Sonic. Only when he's written well though. He's got a sense of adventure and freedom and doesn't like to hold himself down anywhere in particular. He can be rather friendly and helpful, but is also a bit cocky and thinks he's the coolest thing around. He's nice, but can be rude whether by accident or because he just doesn't like to deal with certain things. He doesn't like to play by others rules, just likes to live his own life.

 

 When the writers don't know what they're doing though he just comes across as utterly boring. Like Mario, except faster and more blue.

Well, if it comes down to that, I'll choose Knuckles every time. And Blaze is a close second.

 

HOWEVER!

I think that deep down, all Sonic fans actually like Sonic himself, even if they don't realize it. He's the father of the franchise, the star of just about every game. When a new Sonic game comes out, do you really only play it for Tails, Shadow, Eggman/Robotnik, or whoever? When a cartoon is made, do you really only care about the side characters? It's almost like running into a brony/pegasister who says that they don't like Twilight or the Mane 6, only Derpy or some background pony. Yeah, they're great, but that's pretty sad if that's the only reason you watch the show. They might not even appear in the background! And you'd be missing out on something great.

 

There is nothing wrong with liking the star or main characters. Other characters are great, but the fun and enjoyment is till there and felt by lots of people.

Truthfully I love Tails, Blaze, and Rouge.

 

Tails: Well what's there to say that hasn't been already said by Tails fans? He is cute, he is one knowledgeable fox, and simply put, he is Sonic's best bud. Honestly though, I don't mind the gender bend of tails as truthfully. I personally think he would be great as a female character. One of the my key reasons is it just seems right for him, he just sometimes is awkward as a male character especially when he started being on the of the characters voiced in games. In Adventures and SATAM it made sense for his voice to be high due to him being more of a child but in the games, he is easily in his teens. Him still having a high voice in his teens make him seem more like a girl.

 

Blaze: Well there are two reasons why I enjoy Blaze as a character. Firstly, she is a cat and I love cats. Secondly, she has a senseable and logical personality. She isn't one to be in danger on her own if she knows it would be too much for her. Plus a bonus is that she is a princess and pyromancer. She isn't the typical prissy princess personality crap either, which is what I like about her. She plays along the lines of Super Mario's Princess Daisy in some way. She certainly makes a excellent addition to the Sonic Cast.

 

Rouge: Now I know what you all are thinking: "You like rouge because of her assets! Hahaha~" This is where you are wrong. Yes I will admit she was created as one of the more suggestive characters of the new gen Sonic series but she does play her role well. What I love about her is that she uses her sexuality to get what she wants, in a clean manor of course since this is still Sonic we are talking about. She isn't one to take shit from anyone either but she will be a tease to her rivals, namely Knuckles. She does her job well as a thief and treasure hunter wither it is by stealth or by action. A Fem Fatal of sorts. Her sexy appearance, as I said before, plays a role in how she gets things if she need to.

Yes, SATAM Robotnik was creepy and nightmare fuel worthy. He also was better as a villain both in voice and in his actions compared to Adventures Robotnik and with most of the sonic games late in the game. Some of the early sonic games on the Genesis made him look like a villain but not to the level of SATAM Robotnik. In Sonic CD, Robotnik was much more sinister especially with the US variety of music. I still say the Japan Final Boss theme is better for Sonic CD compared to it's american counterpart.
