Why do people hate on BlueBlood?
SOHCAHTOA replied to 100 beasts kaidou's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Because an anime is a totally valid and stable source for forming a point in an argument. I don't even know what to say about the math thing. How does that relates to anything I said? And we don't know, but it's more likely that he's simply a douche than it is that he's pretending to be a douche. Here is something for you to think about: when two people propose different things in an argument, it is up to whoever came with the extraordinary claim to prove that he is right. In our case, the ordinary claim is, "Blueblood is exactly how we see him in the show". The extraordinary claim is "Blueblood was just pretending to be a douche". It makes for a good headcanon in my opinion, but it's easier to believe that there's nothing about him other than what we saw. So, I win by default in this last argument. Anything else? -

Ok, now you're just being ridiculous. That is not stereotypes. Nobility is not a race, a religion, a sex or gender. It's a responsability. And we're not saying "he has to act like that because that's how nobles acts", we're saying "he has to act like that because it's how nobles should act". Think about it. He's a prince, he holds a position in the government. Even if he's just part of a comitee where they vote for new laws, he still has a responsability, and by what we have seen if there's one thing he's not is responsible. Would you want to live in a country with a president that's just a spoiled brat? Like North Korea? For the last time, stop comparing the two. Discord is a reality-warping chaos spirit who's a villain, Blueblood is just that douche you wouldn't invite to your birthday party, or any party for that matter, he's so obnoxious you just want to pretend he doesn't exist. Like you. Full Spectrum didn't say one needed to be gentlemanly or ladylike to be liked, he said a member of nobility should. You can't compare the Mane 6 with Fancypants, or Celestia, or Blueblood. The part about swag was a joke by him, and it was just in answer to you, who was the first to use that word. The fact that you tried attacking a joke tells me that you really are ignoring everything you see is right and attacking blindly everything you don't understand. And Spectrum is right: you won't let anyone change your mind. Everyone can see. I would have stopped in "ridiculous", but since that wasn't enough characters I decided to show you my thoughts. You know, I've never seen anyone as obnoxious as you. Most people would simply have given up by this point, but you takes the cake. Instead of giving up, you just keep ignoring every proof that you are wrong and attacking everything people say that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand, making you look more and more pathetic with each word you type. But to tell the truth, I, of all people enjoy a good debate, even agains't an adversary so pitiful as you. So, c'mon. Answer. This amuses me greatly. You'll just be giving me more opportunities to prove you wrong. EDIT: On another hand, I seem to be letting my evil genius escape. Since the thread creator doesn't seem to be able to come with a convincing argument, I suggest we lock this thread. Of course, that's mighty self-centered of me. But as long as I am allowed to come here, I'll just keep throwing wood and alcohol at the flames, and scream "WAR!". -
^ Strawberry > When someone in this game asks something that I think I can't come up with a good answer, that I have answered already, or that I think someone else can come up with a better answer, I let someone else answer, and wait until I find a better question. v When you're playing a game, do you often focus on wheter or not the other players are having fun? Or do you don't think about it?

Symbolism in MLP:FIM and hidden knowledge

XD 's cool bro. Can't wait fer more :3 Circuits... no you know what. I was gonna say that you're annoying, and that pride, even when merited, is still a flaw. But I dunno, I think I would be much of a prick if I really said that. Eh, 's jus' that you sound snob. You probably didn't meant to sound that way.- 111 replies

Why do people hate on BlueBlood?
SOHCAHTOA replied to 100 beasts kaidou's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
1) She's tomboyish. That's not acting as a Stallion. 2) Pinkie Pie acts as a child, but differently than Blueblood. Don't pretend you don't know this. 3) BECAUSE THEY'RE VILLAINS GODDANMIT!!! I've already said this once, so stop ignoring me. Discord was bad, but he was fun to watch, and we didn't actually see him do anything directly bad to anypony (such as holding them like puppets or throwing them in pits of fire, as it was implied he'd do), and no one likes King Sombra. I mean, he was an awesome villain and all, but he wasn't fun to watch. I'd say he only has more fans than Blueblood because he was more important to the plot. They're not hated because, as villains, what non-villains would be hated for, they're loved. The situation kinda flips upside down when the character is of opposite allignment. We hate Blueblood because he's not a villain, but has all the characteristics of a proper antagonist. I've said that a thousand times already, I should stop repeating myself but you don't seem to be paying attention. -

Dude. Just... don't. He understands it's just a show. We all do. He's no trying ro crack some secret code that will reveal the ark of the covenant, he's just doing this because he likes doing it. If the show producers really did make a conlang, then why not decode? And please, tell me why it's worth translating Klingon but not Equestrian? Really, that's some poor faith in bronies, and a disrespect to the show. We overthink the small parts because it's fun. Simple as that. If you don't like it, instead of telling others to stop having fun just ignore it. And please, type properly. This is not msn or facebook, typing like that only makes you look like a fool.

Why do people hate on BlueBlood?

As of Magic Duel, Trixie seems to be getting the hang of this humility thing... in her own boastful way. And I like the comparison with Kuzco. Yeah, I guess they do have a lot of things in common. But Kuzco is so hammy and so damn fun to watch. The show writers did their best to make Blueblood unlikable. -
So... awesome! VBDSOUIGBSOFJISDHBGNOIHBVBAILGUGIBBERISHFVMA.BVWSKHF.WSE BFVHVLRGBCJHF This is so epic awesome! You're awesome dude! I wish I could help, but I'm no cryptographer. But you're doing an awesome work, keep at it! Also, I'm a little surprised. Not that you are doing this, just that it took someone so long to try to decode the symbols that appear in the first shot of the first episode. I mean, The Legend Of Zelda fans cracked the Skyward Sword Hylian so fast, one would think us bronies would have done it faster. And that's what I love about the brony community: there's people of all kinds here. For every sport, there is a brony athlete, for every science a brony scientist, for every art a brony artist. Which is why, if the fandom is together, we can do anything. And I think we can discard the poster to the Talent Show as an animator being lazy. It doesn't mean the symbols are gibberish. One last thing: a language made for a piece of fiction is called a constructed language, or conlang for short. People who make conlangs are called conlangers, like Marc Okrand (Klingon) and Paul Frommer (Na'vi). EDIT: This. I agree completely. Although we're not sure yet if it is just gibberish, so you should keep trying to decode it Although it seems to be so little material to help you decode it. Gibberish or not, maybe you should just make a language.

Why do people hate on BlueBlood?
SOHCAHTOA replied to 100 beasts kaidou's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Because they're villains, and, to quote TV Tropes, Evil Is Cool. And Blueblood wasn't even evil. Everyone loves the bad guys. Forget the bad things they did and focus on the personality: Discord is what everyone wishes they could be (capable of doing whatever they wanted, or simply doing things that seem to not make sense) Nightmare Moon isn't much, but let's remember that she doesn't has any fans. There are Luna fans, and then there are Luna fans that like Nightmare Moon's appearance, but Nightmare Moon doesn't has any true fanbase. On the other hand, Prince Charmless bad actions were very forgettable (he wasn't being evil. From the worst point of view, he was being rude) but unlike the other two he doesn't has a captivating personality that makes people like him. He's rude, annoying, and worst of all, thinks he's behavior is completely normal and should be tolerated by others. As I view it, there's nothing wrong with not having any manners, as long as you acknowledge that you have no manners. But I'm not saying he's a terrible character. The problem is that he was only in a few scenes of a single episode. I think he'd have lots more fans if his personality was just expanded upon, if he just appeared again in a new episode. Really, he doesn't even ned to become a better character, we just need more characterization to like him. So what he's a snob stuck-up, if he appears in any episode as an antagonist he'd be cool. Like Trixie. If Snips and Snails hadn't waken the Ursa, she'd have been just an egocentric showpony, and she'd have as many fans as Blueblood. But because we get to see more of her personality, as consequences of having to face the Ursa Minor, she becomes likable. To summarize, we dislike Prince Blueblood because (ironically enough) he was just a tool for the plot to move on, rather than a full fledged character. If we saw more of him we'd like him (I think I, at least, would). Ending thought: Discord did have a reason for what he did: for teh lulz. King Sombra on the other hand was pure evil. -

Why do people hate on BlueBlood?
SOHCAHTOA replied to 100 beasts kaidou's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Simple. He's an ass. Ok, all your points are at least mildly valid. But there are some things... First of all, wheter he was nobility or not is no excuse. No one should be that bad. Second, consider that he is the unique in his douchebaggery. No one is quite as douche as him. Not even Upper Crust and Jet Setter were this bad. But finally, what I think is the reason people seem to hate him the most for is the fact that he seems to be completely unaware that what he does is wrong. You can just shrug off generic douches for being bad people, but when someone is bad and they don't know that... I don't know about other people, but there's nothing I hate more than people who don't understand why what they're doing is wrong. One should know the difference between good and wrong, even if mildly so. But Blueblood doesn't see good or bad, he sees "good for me" and "bad for me". He sees everyone that is not himself as simple tools and toys. Thoughs on this: * A fanfic showing Blueblood learning proper manners would be awesome. * "Tools and Toys" sounds like it would be an awesome villain song. -
Things you took a while to realize about FIM?
SOHCAHTOA replied to Zygen's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Hmm... to tell the truth there never was anything I took too much time to figure it out. While I've never did any research on the subject, I already had enough superficial knowledge about horses to understand why the place was called Equestria, and everything else I've learned way before formally joining the fandom, when I'd just look at MLP:FIM memes online. It was then that I learned the characters names, the concept of a "background pony", and many other things. I guess something that could count is why Canterlot is named that way. I understand Fillydelphia, Manehatten, and Ponyville is obvious, but is Canterlot named after some horse based pun or anything? Because I still haven't figured it out. All I know is that it sounds like Camelot. -
^ Well, just a little :3 but only in real life, where I'm more of a Cloud Cuckoolander Deadpan Snarker. I don't know what I am online, but definetely not that. > Well, I'd hardly call Cherry Jubilee a background pony, but seeing as she only made a single appearance in a single scene of a single episode, I'd say she counts for what I wanted. v Are you drastically different in real life compared to how you act online?

Do you wear your heart on your shirt?
SOHCAHTOA replied to Lightning Fluttershy's topic in General Discussion
I used to be very bottled up. I was shy and had no friends. Eventually, I just told myself "screw this. Reputation is for those who have friends" and just started splurting whatever came out of my mind. So I've basically became my class freakshow, just doing random things for shits 'n' giggles. Nowadays I do have a few friends, but I still just say whatever comes to mind because people are used to me being weird, and just don't take me seriously if I say or do something I normally wouldn't say. No one took me seriously when I said MLP was a good show D: I'm also a short fuse, so I have a hard time NOT answering to something I dislike, and this bad temper of mine has already made me say many things I regret.- 85 replies

Immediately when I started reading what you were saying, I remembered the Tv Tropes page Everyone Is Jesus In The Purgatory. But then, you started making sense. SO, congratulations on saying somethings that's actually meaningful sorry if it doesn't mean much to you, but it's the first time I see someone doing what you just did on the internet. Also, I think the main problem I'm having with this poem is that I'm simple-minded. While I am very creative, I tend to reserve my imagination to original things, and when I'm appreciating some form of work of art (books, paintings, tv shows, poems, music) I really only know what I see/hear. Which is why I tend to find works with ambiguous interpretations disappointing. But that's just me being incapable of paying attention to something and thinking at the same time.

^ Oh oh, let's see.... Blossomforth! She's cool :3 > I like Blossomforth. I also like how she started as a toy but then appeared in the show. But mainly, I like the contrast between her mane colors. v What's your favorite background pony that doesn't has a huge fanbase? (So, no Lyra, no Time Turner... you get the gist).

Oh ok. I guess you accomplished what you wanted... for a matter of fact, I think you did it too well. We are given next to no information about the characters or their motivations. That's like calling someone, and when they ask "what" answering "nevermind". That was too good, it's really a shame there's nothing more. But I can undertand what you wanted to do, and I have to say you've done it perfectly. Also, I preferred your old avatar. Also, have you posted any other poems before on this site? Because if you did, I'd like to read them EDIT: ... Did you change your avatar again? In such short notice?

Cool! Very nice. I was a little disappointed because it was quite inconclusive, but I wouldn't want it to be comclusive if it wasn't good. And you can make it a story! Make various poems, each telling a part of the story, and each in a different style! Of course, that's just an idea. I understand that it was quite hard for you to make that, and it would take a lot of your time to do this, not only on thinking how would the poems go and what rhymes to make, but also on creating a story. Anyway, that was just an idea. Your poem is awesome! EDIT: Also, not gonna lie, first though on my head when I read the title of the thread (Him), I though it referred to the PPG villain XD When I read the other word (poem) though, I thought "no, it couldn't be Him".
