  1. I don't, but I think a small amount of a good scent isn't a problem. Nothing worse than people doused in the stuff. If I can smell it as the person walks past me, it's just as bad as body odour.
  2. I think Scootaloo's disability is important. It shows the viewers that not everyone is the same, but it's completely okay. Scootaloo shows children that even if you can't do things people expect you to be able to do, you can still flourish as a person by finding things you can do well. Her whole character is built around this ideal and it's a very important lesson to teach people. We're not all the same, but that doesn't mean we're any less than anyone else. If Scootaloo were to become just like everyone else, it'd completely throw away the importance of her character to the viewer.
  3. Stores like Hot Topic are very driven by trends. A few years ago, when FiM was at an all-time high in popularity, it was a very sought after mercgandise opportunity. Now that it doesn't have as much attention and thus less sale potential, there's less incentive to create merchandise for it. It's the natural ebb and flow, and if FiM stays on this course, I wouldn't be surprised to see it remain out of Hot Topic's scope.
  4. Console exclusivity. Everything else, if managed well, is perfectly acceptable. DLC is fine, so long as it's used in the right way. An example being Super Smash Bros for WiiU/3DS. Nintendo released the game for a standard price and with a full fighter roster, and then over time had their team continue to work on the game, making new fighters and stages. The game already was in a completed and full state, and it was made very clear that the fighters were being developed post-release. So I find it completely acceptable that they put a price on the new fighters, as it means the developers were being paid. That's a good example of well-done DLC. No paywalls, no cut content. Just genuine post-release development, giving people more of what they wanted and for only a small price. But some elements have no value whatsoever. Console exclusivity has no purpose other than swaying a buyer into a certain system. It is purely an agreement between publishers as a way to secure money. A good example is Sunset Overdrive, for Xbox One. They were struggling to get funding, and companies such as Sony and even Nintendo turned them down. But Microsoft stepped in and gave them all the funding they needed, even letting them keep their creation rights to the game. But all they asked in return was for the game to be an Xbox One exclusive title, one to be there for launch. Exclusivity has no reason to exist and only serves to fuel console wars and drive up console sales.

    general media Unfunny comedians.

If your joke involves the words 'penis' or 'vagina'(or any variant) three times before the punchline, it's probably not a good joke. I don't follow comedians enough to name any, but anything crude and lacking wit is an automatic channel-switcher.
  6. Pooping. I have terrible toilet anxiety and it's just a bother and waste(get it?) of time. Thankfully, I'm hopeful for the future and can't wait for my shiny metal body that no longer requires such a function.
  7. What are some smells that you can't stand? I'm not talking about obvious stinkers like rotten foods and sewerage. But things that wouldn't bother most people, but do to you for whatever reason. For me it's microwaved cheese, especially cheap cheese. If it's all melted as part of a bigger dish(pizza for example, or reheated spaghetti), it's fine. But just plain and overpowering is a no-go. It's just like smelling warm, left out milk.
  8. I think Rarity is pretty good. She's not perfect, but she learns from her mistakes and strives to be a good pony. I also feel like it's a little unfair to strike her out on such few things and so early in the series. She, like all the Mane 6(except Fluttershy, I dunno why they keep toying with her character) have shown great character development over the years. She's really become the Element of Generosity.
  9. I don't. I always check. It's one of those paranoias of mine.
  10. Switch has plenty of potential to succeed. They're targeting a better audience, they've got better hardware, and they have much more third party support. They're also doing much better on the level of marketing. The WiiU was a great console. It felt and looked nice, and it had great games. But it fell because of issues such as poor launch support, long wait times for new games, and a terribly little amount of marketing. These, coupled with the console's own limited hardware(it worked amazingly enough, as Smash Bros and Wind Waker HD are stunning) scaring away all third-party support, ended up bringing the console to its knees. It didn't have the developer support, nor the consumer attention, to succeed. If the Switch is to be a good console, it needs to fox these issues. Thankfully, it seems to be doing just that. Their 'gimmick' is something that is useful and interesting, but not necessary or hindering to the standard style of gaming. They have made sure to target a good set of demographics, looking to appeal to many rather than one in particular. Their marketing is starting off strong and should sky-rocket come January. And finally, they have a HUGE amount of third-party support. Developers from all over the globe are putting their chips in. Particularly important ones such as Bethesda and Ubisoft. This shows promise as many big companies are often quite fussy about their platforms. So if market-leading developers and publishers are playing, then there must be some promise. All-in-all, it shows a lot of promise. Only question now is if they can keep the ball rolling. Personally though, I'm already set to preorder.
  11. It's a hard question to answer. You'd have to define multiple things beforehand. How intelligent is the AI? What are its main functions and capabilities? Does it have any set defined purpose already? How connected is it to the real world? All of these are very important to know, especially the question of intelligence. What are living things, but simply highly advanced machines? We take in fuel, and turn it into actions. All living beings are just exceptionally complex machines. Every element of the body can be reduced to the simple concept of action-reaction. Arguably the least mechanical element of our being is our conciousness, but even then it's really just because we've yet to fully understand amd define it.
  12. Slytherin, and I feel like the Slytherin abuse is a little unfair here. ;_; The Slytherin house isn't just where all the bad people go. The house represents pride and ambition. The desire to use magic for success and power, to achieve your personal goals. While it attracts plenty of sour folks, this is only the fallout of the house's true personality. It's not that the Slytherin house makes bad people, just that bad people often have similar traits. In the Potterverse, Merlin the Magician came from Slytherin and he's certainly not a bad guy.
  13. Luna was a straightforward villain. She was an obstacle for the main characters to overcome. Elsa however was an accidental antagonist. She wasn't something for Anna to overcome, rather she was a loving sister who needed help. So, while Nightmare Moon is the bigger threat(an active evil), Elsa's situation was more intimate for the viewer. The actual struggle being between the relationship between sisters. Consider Nightmare Moon as a separate character to Luna. She was the sister of Celestia in name only, and this callousness makes the emotional connection between them and the viewer much less significant.
  14. Not at all. The idea that we need to naturally cater to everyone, is inherently flawed. There is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate any form of holiday. It's mind-boggling how people seem to think that in order to appeal to the most people, they need to remove as much personality from a thing as possible. Personally I think they should have MORE thematic holidays described. That's how you'd best appeal to a wider variety of people. I'm not Christian, nor do I care much for Christmas(except for that delicious Christmas Ham), and yet I loved the Hearthswarming episodes and think we need more episodes that delve into those sorts of grandiose musical and fantasy themes.
  15. That could work out nicely. I think the best approach would be to consider 'less is more'. You don't want too many details muddying up the overall model. The focuspoint being the pretty hair, you want it to really be able to stand out.
  16. The models themselves are quite fine and pretty. Some light indentations on the trike's skull might look good. Making more light indentations down their backs to imitate scales would be a nice option too. As they are, they're a smidge plain. However I think this will be best solved by slightly tweaking the models themselves, rather than adding sticker details(like the eyes). I love the simple pastel models with shiny hair and too many sticker details will probably make it too tacky.
  17. That's seriously impressive. You have quite a good hand for sculpting. I love the idea of 'glamoursaurs' and these are already looking like they have a lot of potential. The blue one is my favourite, and the white one probably needs a bit of tweaking so there isn't so much hair on the ground and it appears more balanced(if the hair naturally curved back over the body, it should fix this problem). I love the models themselves and can't wait to see if you make any other dinosaurs. Perhaps consider some more interesting hair formations(down the blue raptor's spine, fanning out from under the triceratop's skull, etc). All in all, they look very cool. I'd love to have that blue raptor.
  18. Did you mold these dinosaurs yourself?
  19. Microsoft is definitely trying to bridge the gap between their console market and their PC market(a good thing imo). I think things like this are just fallout from the ultimatr goal of wanting to become the biggest home theatre system provider. A smart move to keep up with the ever evolving technology world.
  20. You're still misunderstood, and at this point I'm starting to think it's a lost cause. You're looking at tiny little differences as proof of the overall movie being completely unlike the show. Yes, the music and animation will be much higher budget. But this is only because they now have the freedom to do so, which was harder on the TV show. This is pretty common in animation. The music is still headed by Daniel Ingram, and will still feel like MLPFiM, only more grandiose. The animation is in the same boat. Ultimately, it'll still be clearly MLPFiM in design traits. This time they're just able to use a better medium, and put more time into it, so that we get an overall smoother and prettier animation and visual design. But it's going to still share most visual traits with the franchise. In fact, for product recognition, it's really important that they do keep the similarities and feeling. The screenwriting is still being done by Meghan McCarthy, with Rita Hsaio as a co-writer(most likely for their experience in working with feature length films). The animation's director is exactly the same person. He recently even stepped down as director of the show, to work full-time on the movie. So, again. Thematically, the show is still going to be MLPFiM at heart. It will look prettier and sound prettier, but it will still feel like MLPFiM. All of these little differences don't mean that we're going to see radical changes in the franchise's formula and design.
  21. Nothing. It's a TV show, just like anything else. The best way to convince them is to just tell them you think it's good, and suggest they watch an episode to just give it a try. If they're the kind of person to scoff at it and ignore it, they're not going to actively choose to watch anything related to it. I don't have any interest in Game of Thrones, and a person could throw all manners of parodies/fan works at me(the former generally needs knowledge about the source anyway), and I would still not feel inclined to watch it.
  22. I wonder if if I check back in another six months, there'll be less political hubris littering the forum.

  23. Ultimately, forums are at the mercy of their community. A community becomes what it is because of the people involved in it. It's impossible to truly police a populated forum, without becoming a forum that would be considered unappealingly strict. There's no such thing as an optimal community that befits everyone and really you just need to find a forum that suits your personal preferences. Communities are subjective when it comes to finding out what works, and usually what works is the result of the community's long time evolution. So,the forums you mighr consider bad, likely work perfectly fine for all those who've chosen to stick around on it.
