  1. All I can say is..... um....ok. Really though. I can understand why people would be so dedicated to the show (I should understand, I feel my lifeblood flows with it. One with the force....) But a religion....I personally would find it entertaining. You know, like the hyper-evangelical Christians I seem to bump into every other day in my country. There would be some intimidation factor, seeing how devoted they are....... But the stories after would be rofl-quality stuff for me. But of course, I do not, in any way, wish to trample over anyone's beliefs.I would just find their efforts to convert people and the preachings entertaining.
  2. Heya, just thought of some random things to ask, so I thought I would just ask for your opinions on them. - Is it better to actively seek out other bronies, or just wear that Fluttershy shirt (Dont fight over this) until you find someone out there? - Does simply being a brony seem to reduce the amount of hostile reactions to situations for you? - Are other bronies more favourable to talk to in certain situations? If so, then what situations would you prefer talking to a brony than anyone else you trust/know?
  3. Hey guys. I was looking to ask a simple question to the people here. Its about being a brony, and do think before saying. Do you think that its the mystery and the excitement for simple things is what is a driving force behind being a brony? Case in point: Some people, after trying their utmost best diving into the fandom and figuring out everything eventually lost their taste and become retracted again. Whereas, some people who are still waiting for that opportunity to talk to that brony they see on the train every week have some sense of excitement. What do you guys think?
  4. I have been reading and looking in detail at the answers given, and I thank you all for your responses. I would say it is quite insightful. It is quite heartening that a lot of faith is present in fandoms it seems. Its also quite nice to see people take this in an intelligent manner, along with being emotional and ethical as well. This, along with a few other views into other fandoms, seems to show that there is a higher proportion of people who want a change to current societal systems, along with a lot stronger opinions on the matter. Its quite a heartening view of things.
  5. Well, its nice you think that way, and i totally respect that. But the people losing hope, have good reason. This world is a lot more messed up than people would think. I should know. I lived trying to design things, to progress towards the future. Its only when one reached high enough to poke above the clouds, do you see the tornado on the horizon. That scares people. And its not that bronies are better than anyone else. There are always good people and bad people anywhere, and people who want to make a difference. I came here because its my....spiritual home in essence, and people here wont judge me for trying to do something insane like this. Basically, there is richness everywhere, but we all rather go for the mines we know are richer first, especially one so close to home. Also, I would like to ask, what to you, is keeping us together?
  6. Well, just to answer your little side note, I do have a reason for asking. Id probably just allay everyone's concerns as well. See, well.....I am a brony who chose to try and do things that are great. Things that would make a difference. I developed things for defence, work in environmental science, the lot of it. But I eventually realized that the things I was doing would not help at all. Not one bit. Why? Well, with a world in this state, all my work would end up going to feed that big hungry monster we call a society. In the end, no matter how brilliant, we are all just pawns in a game. So I endeavoured to make a difference. To make this world a better place. Where else to draw inspiration from than the brony fandom? Some of you, in both threads, said that there is a hope for a better society. I decided not to hope. But to do. Im using my assorted works and projects to allow me into that machine, to make a few tweaks, one that will make a difference. But of course, I want to find the essence of what makes a brony, or in fact any fandom tick. It seems like the place most people gather, at least intellectually nowadays. So what I want to do is to learn about the people. Find out what makes a good world, and what are people willing to do to get that. Lots of people out there are lost causes. Sucked into the mindset of society. No creativity, no freedom, locked into a belief of "manliness" and other stereotypes. Pointless to go treasure hunting there. Thus, im here, finding out about what makes a change. I want nothing more out of making a change than to live in a world like Equestria. Or more like it, in any case. What do you think? Is it worth it, is this what people want? I mean the beliefs of one person is not one of all.
  7. Well, just to clarify the point of the question is: when in this situation, ordered to do something you know goes against all the values you have as a brony, will you do it for your country? Also, I mentioned you searched him for weapons, thats why you know he is a brony and that he is unarmed. You specifically searched him. You know.
  8. Um....I did mention he lost his weapon....soo....
  9. Hi there, this is another topic based off another topic I just made, Im doing this to keep the responses seperate, but if this is not good, I guess I'll just combine them. Do read the initial post here to find out what's going on. http://mlpforums.com/topic/104829-what-does-this-mean-to-you/ But basically, I am polling around, looking at the fandom and its people. Why this topic is separate is due to the fact the questions I would put here are a little more......hard to answer. You dont have to answer if you dont like it. The other topic has (or will have) nicer question(s). Well, still reading? Ok, thank you so much....... (1)First question, this will be one of loyalty, and its not as easy as you might think. With this world today being in turmoil, it may one day trigger a war. We are all part of different nations, all over the world. And I am pretty sure if a war does break out, we would most likely be conscripted into the army. Here comes the difficult part of the question. While on duty, you come across a soldier from the opposing army. He/She is a conscript, like you. He is Unarmed, having lost their weapon. Looking round the person, you realise its another conscripted brony. However, your officer gives you the order that the person is an enemy soldier, and must be shot. What would you do, and why?
  10. I only have famous quotes to answer this. About the haters: "Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn." Alfred, The Dark Knight About the response of bronies to the hate: "War does not determine who is right- only who is left." Bertrand Russell (I could have sworn it was Homer.... The poet, not the Simpson) Cant have said it better.
  11. Well, it does help if you explain why you chose the particular word to describe it. Why this word? Why not some other word?
  12. Hello Everyone. I....Im putting this post up in order to find out some key things about the fandom and its people. Im hoping there will be a good response for this, it would be helpful. Why im doing this? Well.....its ambitious and none of you would believe me if I said so. Might even say its impossible, but I wouldnt like to go into that type of argument, so let's leave it at that. I would most likely post a set of topics, one after another, and I would be asking anyone to respond to it. It doesnt matter who you are, if your a brony, I would like to know your response to this. But just one thing. Please take your answer seriously, the results from this may come into use later on. I will say so what it will be used for, when the time comes. Sorry for the cryptic nature of things, its just so I wont have to explain over and over or cause a big fuss. But if you guys want me to, then I will. *EDIT* I will keep adding more questions, so as to not flood the topics board. They will come as soon as I get a understanding of the responses to the previous one. Sorry, but do number your responses. I will number my questions. Also, if you feel like it, another topic with more question(s). But do keep in mind, they will be harder and a little more uncomfortable to answer. http://mlpforums.com/topic/104848-hard-questions-of-us-all/ (1)For this, I would like to ask a simple question. The title says it all really. What does this fandom, and its people, mean to you? Please sum it up into a single word, then you can explain why you chose that particular word to describe the fandom. Thank you all so much for reading.
  13. For me, its more a community thing. The people surrounding the show are quite the people who you really want to be with. Sure, some may be otaku to the moon and back, and some just cant help but show you are a brony to the rest of the world. But in the end, its a small group, a place away from the backstabbing and cruel world outside. Its a community where one can identify another in a train or the streets. It.......a bit reminds me of a military brotherhood. Like a marine who says any other marine is his brother, and can easily tell each other apart from a crowd even having never met before, its kinda like the same thing. In spite of all the other human species has to throw at you, it seems that there is always a place to run to. This fandom.
  14. Well...um. Hats off to doing such a thing, gotta be really brave or really ignorant. But TBH, there are a lot more annoying and pathetic things human beings do in a public restaurant. Like getting into a fight over the counter queue. Or taking all the napkins or straws. I've seen those plenty of times. But then again, some people would not like to contend with rabid fans of any sort. Its not just bronies, its any fandom whose members do such a thing. But I wouldnt get too bent out of shape over this. Most would just say, "insane fans" and walk off. Cause if you want to react to this badly, then you clearly have not read the Emergency Manual to Surviving Fandoms. Or in fact, any manual on emergency survival concerning humans. So yeah. Dont agree with it, but dont flip out.
  15. Ah.....Well, my idea is simply meant to coordinate brony performances all over the globe. It is also meant to come up with a schedule for people who are participating to help, and dont have any ideas of their own. Of course it would be themed around music and dance, but there is nothing wrong with speeches or any other idea(just so long as it does not stress the law, or bores people to sleep) But the way the plans are laid out means there is a ton of space for collaboration and flexibility. So I would be more than happy to work with you and accept your ideas as well. This is also why I just wanted to document what willingness, ideas and skill-set, the may be some people like you who would have their own strong ideas that cannot be mixed up in the mess of a project discussion. But it would be nice to know what your idea actually is. Dont get me wrong, I never doubted your abilities and wisdom. What I intend to say is that this project will need people like you, who have a wealth of experience.
  16. Really? Do tell me of your ideas, and for documentation's sake, I will need to ask you the questions in the first post so I know who wants to do what. Those were: Country of residence and its UTC (basically its timezone) (Relevant)Skills possessed Willingness and capability to shoulder responsibility at International, Regional, National, and City levels.
  17. Oh...wonderful! It would be great if you knew a lot of bronies. In fact, as a side note, to people wanting to help, also recommend your friends to come help too(Dont put them here on their behalf and blame me)
  18. Just to tell you guys, Its fine you are not 16 yet, so long as you turn 16 this year, you can help. And Scootalove, you dont have to spend every waking hour on this, you can just help in little scatterings, there are places for that in the plan. So now you know, willing to help?
  19. Hello there people. I have been planning a rather ambitious project for a while now, and I think its time I started looking for help. Before you all start, no, its not some mumbo-jumbo project with a huge team already. Its just me. I have been hoping to carry out a sort of synchronised brony street performance all over the world. Its meant to serve a huge variety of purposes, from helping bullied and harassed people(and raising awareness for them) to being plain awesome. The obligation is helping is that you must be willing to spend some time to work on the project, and is able to keep to deadlines and is at least 16 years old(legal requirements of being an organizer; don't want any legal trouble now) And of course, must understand English, and would be helpful if you knew the local language too. However I cannot do this alone. This is why I am asking for any people who would be interested in helping organize such a thing to post on this thread their; Country of residence and its UTC (basically its timezone) (Relevant)Skills possessed Willingness and capability to shoulder responsibility at International, Regional, National, and City levels. I know I may not have that many resources, but every project has to start somewhere. Might as well here. If you need something clarified, send a PM to me. Would like to keep this thread clear. Also, if you dont like the idea and may think its crazy/stupid just dont post here, please. We are all nice people, are we not? But I would need to know what people think, so also post your thoughts on it here. Just dont get abusive. Thank you to all people who are willing to help. *edit* Just to let you all know, it is just a short version, I am not doing this on a whim, it is months in the planning already. *Edit (Again) You just need to be turning 16 this year at the least, I do not think the planning will require you to be 16 until December. Also, its Ok if you do not have a lot of free time, you can help too! The plans do call for some people to just aid as and when they can, not everyone needs to make it their life goal. *update* Ok, I am really hoping more people will take notice. It is an interesting project, and I do hope people will see it in this way too. Remember, this is also to help others in need. A performance it might be, but people who have undergone tough emotional times will know how much a single idea can spark hope in someone. We all know so many times where people are bullied, assaulted, fired and abused because they are bronies. If you really want to give this increasingly crazy world a good slap in the face, this is the way to do it, not by running down the street in protest, but in bringing the world to a show. To demonstrate the values we embody in a Equestrian way. If you truly care for others in this fandom, we need to put aside our fears and shadows, and step into the light, so bronies all over can see why they should be proud. No more of cases of bronies driven to suicide, with a recent one being Michael Morones. Do we really want to stand by idly while these people suffer, and only stepping in when its too late? I think not. We should stand as a beacon for them, and send a message to all of them. Instead of saying, "oh, we bronies know how its like to be disliked by everyone," Let us SHOW them what we mean, in the way they know best. And if we look stupid, so what? Instead of a world of sadness, some silliness will help the 1 million who take their lives each year to see something funny in the world again. Think about it, we should be doing something for all these people, brony or not. Think, we can literally save a million people. a million lives. Is that not worth your time and effort, and some guts to perform? Come on people, let us do this!
  20. Actually, with what you guys added, I just had a new thought on magic in Equestria...... I would agree magic is prevalent, but in different forms for the different races. All of the races have a certain capability to tap into their energy which is prevalent in all of Equestria. But of course they will need some level of control of their magic, and since it is available everywhere, anyone is capable of taking more than their fair share, so to speak. So if somepony chooses to absorb a little more magic than needed.....like Luna....... It corrupts. As is said in Animal Farm from George Orwell, "Power Corrupts. Total Power Corrupts Totally." So that pony will enjoy the omnipotent feel of power, and will want more....see where this is going? Which is why such training is needed on ponies, especially unicorns, who are more than capable of obtaining more than enough power for their own use. So in essence, Equestria is techincally as unstable as our world, as an Doomsday capability rests with those who are capable of taking a lot of magic out of the system. Actually, with that thought, it seems like its similar to our world, just a better version of it. I mean, look at it. Some people with the capability to affect all beings on that planet, yet they choose to harmonise instead of threatening to fry each other like we do....Makes you think a little about MLP and world politics, hm? Also, I think why darkness is on the other end of the spectrum is explainable by something in our world. What happens when something as bright as a star collapses under its own energy? It can become a black hole. Brightness and Giving. Darkness and Taking. See the connection there...? Another headcanon; This theory explains the class system in Equestria. Unicorns are the most capable of using pure magic to destroy, so have the most bargaining power. Pegasi are only able to channel excess power into physical violence, and are one step below.(Probably backed up by the fact they are a warrior race....) Earth Ponies seem only able to direct it at developing things, and so are least capable of threatening using magic.
  21. Thank you all. I was really not expecting anyone to get what I was saying(or did you?). But yeah, a theory is a theory, fun and confusion in all.
  22. Dont mind me putting my two bits about magic in Equestria. (Gonna be REALLY sciency here. Sorry. Habit when you are a scientist. Really sorry if I confound you. Lotta Particle Physics entering equation....) Well, I think that magic is simply a condensation of energy harmonics in Equestria. What basically I mean is that I would treat magic in the same class as energy. It is contained within every being and object, and the condensed powers each race has is simply their race's adaptation to harmonise the ever-present energy. Let's start with Pegasi. I would say they are just as heavy as any regular pony, but their wings would not be there for the thrust. I would say it is somewhat like a way to make air particles behave in a more solid manner, by manipulating the quantum fields surrounding each particle, which would allow the pegasus to fly and walk on what is essentially water vapour. This is backed up by the fact they are able to retain the clouds into structures, which gives a further impression that magic is simply particle structuring. As for the Unicorns, I would relate their telekinesis to magnetic alignment. All particles are able to magnetically align at the quantum level, which basically means anything is potentially magnetisable, and real scientists have proven that. So I would say the Unicorn horns are their method of particle alignment and manipulation. And since they are able to affect each individual particle and alter its structure, they would be able to reform particles into another using only what sub-atomic particles are present. Essentially alchemy. Using the air particles to reform into a beard for example. Or altering a mane's refractive capability to change its colour. As for the Elements of harmony, I would link to a catalytic version of a magnetic field. What I say it is that in Equestria, the world's entropy is towards order, which is opposite to our world, where the entropy is tending towards disorder. So I would say that the Elements are a reset button on all of the matter in Equestria, pushing them towards their entropic equilibrium, which is order. Chaos I would say is simply the amplification of the random nature of particles in general, allowing them to change this way and that at no coherent fashion. But Discord uses the Unicorn style of magic to start the chaos, manipulating the surroundings to a disordered state, and ordering it into what he wants/needs at times. Congratulations if you understood all that. You are brilliant. Again, really sorry if I made some of your brains melt/explode for the complex theories.
  23. Oooh... Time to share my thoughts. I understand what some people here are saying, but the fact is that we who have the thick-skins are those who have seen all the crap the world threw, so we dont give a damn. But for the new members of the herd, they are rather new to this level of assault and abuse, or are somewhat like Fluttershy (I should know how it feels) that they simply do not know how to manage. I take the side that some strong arguments should be kept on hand. Not to shove down people's faces, but to be ready. Its like how the army runs. We are not in any major war, but exercises and tactics are shared for the day it does happen. For each of the new guys. In this fandom, there will be a time eventually where you need to stand against judgement and hate with pride(Strange it never happened to me yet, for a 2 and a half years brony. Hmm.) Its would be nice to just offer them some level of help. Now for the arguments. Firstly. Since when did associating with a show for girls make you "gay"? Is this not a demonstration of my human right to free speech? Is it strength to admit a truth or to hide behind false courage? Was the definition of masculinity originally about strength? Does open hatred do anything for either person? Would it not be better to respect differences? Short and simple set of questions to make the person see the huge holes in their argument.
  24. Time to break the silence, and step into the light....

Spent most of my time in forums, or anywhere for that matter, sitting silently in the dark and letting the world go round. I better move on, and start interacting with people. Cant hide forever.

  25. If this was illegal? Then it shall be time to stitch things together......a community to organize.......and a liberation standard...and a speech.
